Dance On, Yay or Nay!

The whole song sounds like a bunch of samples put together, almost pop meets Public Enemy. Very weird, but in a great way. Evil lyrics. Killer bass. Fantastic use of rythem. Not really a traditional song, but it is unique in that Prince way that only he can do.

Yayyyyyyyy

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Yay, and it was cool to find it on a rehearsal boot live with lyrics, unlike the tour version.

Hells Yeah!

One of my all time favourite P songs to drum to.

You're not listening, if you think it's a bunch of samples. And it's traditional for Prince, when you put things like "Tambourine", and "Something In The Water" next to it.

Mos Def, pronoun, is a rapper.

Mos def, adjective, stands for "most definitely."

Thumbs up.
I did a mash up of Dance On vs Dance 4 Me. 2nd favorite behind Black Sweat/Kiss.

Great big yay.

Back in the day, this was the song I'd thrust at people who mistakenly believed that Prince was 'wimpy'.

Always loved that track. The sampling on Dance on is sort of a template for Batman.

most skippable track on that album. half-baked mess that never congeals into music, for me.

Great song. I was surprised when Lovesexy came out, that two of my friends that did not really care for Prince really liked Dance On!

nah, I just never felt like the funk came together on this one. it's a little overly busy trying to disguise the fact that it never really finds a groove.

I might like the backing track better with some different lyrics or a different vocal delivery. not sure. it's just never done anything for me.

Used to be filler for me until I actually paid attention to how the percussion is laid out. Very intricate and complex. Also each iteration is completely different in arrangement. Def a Yay and now one of my favorite tracks on the album.
