Old-Skool Cut of the Day (1/6/04): Heatwave, "Central Heating"

duh-nuh-duh-nuh-duh-dut-dut...da-duh-nuh-duh-nuh-duh-dut-dut...

i love the intro to this song! been havin this cut stuck in my head since last night...i also have a promo t-shirt for the central heating album, i bought it for $7 at some vintage clothing store here in mpls. now all i need to do is get a hold of the actual album (that, and too hot to handle).

testify if you know this one! peace!

Oh Dansa,I LOVE that song!! The entire 'Central Heating' album is da bomb. It's surprisingly more laid-back than 'Too Hot To Handle',with more midtempo and slower tracks, but there's not a bad song anywhere on it.

From this album,I also dig "Happiness Togetherness",the funky "Send Out For Sunshine" and the haunting, dreamy "Star Of A Story" (which George Benson covered a few years later).

You ain't never lied. 'Star Of A Story' may be the best Heatwave song ever...

My turn to TESTIFY, HCFS!

Got 'em both on VINYL! Some time ago, I also went out and picked up Too Hot To Handle on cd!! Favorite cuts on Central Heating are "Star of the Story" and "Grooveline"! Favorite cuts on Too Hot to Handle... well, it's a tie between "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" and "Super Soul Sista"! I even have Heatwave's less popular 3rd Album "Candles", but there wasn't much on there that was very memorable.

I was a die-hard! Those were da days!

I gotta find the other Heatwave albums! The only ones I have are the first two ('Too Hot To Handle' and 'Central Heating') plus a few compilations.I like alot of their early-80s singles...

"Posin Til Closin"
"Gangsters Of The Groove"
"The Big Guns"
"Where Did I Go Wrong?"

did you guys ever read their biography at allmusic.com? Man,they had alot of tragedy and drama in their lives sad
