Uncredited Janet sample in "If"

This has been irking me for years and I have to get it off of my chest. I listen to a lot of music and "If" is one of favorite Janet jams. I have an old KDAY 1580 AM "Often Imitated Vol. 1" compilation CD and it includes a track produced by Full Force called "Bang Zoom (Let's Go Go)" by the Real Roxanne. "If" has interpolations of this song in the breakdown along with The Supremes' "Someday We'll Be Together" -- although the former was never credited in the song's liner notes.

I want you guys to listen to the Real Roxanne's original version and then listen to the dramatic breakdown in "If" and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Not trying to diss my girl or Jam & Lewis, just want to point out this uncredited sample as a little tid bit of rare knowledge to all the Janet listeners there. Plus, "Bang Zoom (Let's Go Go)" is the JAM and it deserves more recognition.

I love that song, it deserves a thread.. dancing jig

I love the part where Full Force drop in the Billy Squier "Big Beat" drums (made famous on their Roxanne beats) then she giggles "Sorry.. lol Wrong Beat!"

"Bang Zoom (Let's Go Go) is the g*ttd*mn jam. The first minute of the song will have you breaking your neck. The beat is funky as hell. Love those DC go-go drums! Roxanne was jammin' towards the 2-minute mark when she was like:

"...driftin' on a memory, Full Force is in the place to be with Hit and me, soon you will see, na na na...that I'm rockin' just for you (JUST FOR YOUUU), 'cause I'm rockin' (ROCKIN') and I love you, too...and it's true! Word. So..."

That is the jam, I said it before and I'll say it again! I'm surprise hip hop historians and 80s urban music connoisseurs have not praised this track.

They do! It's just sort of "underground".

Yeah, Rhythm Nation 1814 has no sample credits but, hey do you have a copy of Design of a Decade, SassyBritches?

Design of a Decade DOES say...

Contains a sample of "Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Again)", written by Sylvester Stewart.

Sly doesn't become a co-writer of the song though, which I think he should be! Probably a different agreement though.

btw, nice avatar SassyBritches drool

Jam & Lewis also ripped off a Joni guitar moment from California on Janets Someone To Call My Lover...
