NORAH JONES Well 2004 is Starting out Very good at least for Artists that I like. With New CDS on the way from lots of my fav artists and some special favorites from the past. This year is the 20th Anniversary of 1984, my personal favorite year of music, dont get me rolling on all those names and songs. But I have good vibes about 2004, but if U guys like NORAH get ready for this new CD "feels like home", her label is LOW-KEYING it with promotion and all that, they are taking the same approach as before, just let the music speak, probably no videos right away, and very little interviews and stuff, but a tour of EUROPE is starting very soon and USA to begin in JUNE, the CD will feature 13 tracks, 6 written by NORAH, the rest by her band a few covers of rarely heard songs. I know everyone will be expecting this CD to do what the last one did, but its not going to happen, so dont even compare them, like NORAH said if we sell 100,000 I would be surprised. Well, I'll be one of those 100,000...she's got a great, wholesome voice and MUCH talent on the keys. Looking forward to it!  Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind. | |

Well, I'll be one of those 100,000...she's got a great, wholesome voice and MUCH talent on the keys. Looking forward to it! Me too!! Norah's approach is much like DAVE MATTHEWS, I mean no one thought DAVE would catch on and then he did and now he's still the same guy, doing what he wants to do, not becoming a sales person for his music, just doing what he does and if people catch on...then cool...if they dont...oh well. Norah Jones bores me, I won't so bad to like her, but after I bought her album, I took it back the next day

I can't take Norah Jones. Her album puts me to sleep. It's perfect music for the AC/background music crowd, but it ain't art to me.

she's soon boring and all the tv ad etc are stupids she has released only one album mostly of covers what will she do next?... there are others talented female singers who don't have any promo at all.. | |

What Norah Jones does isn't for everybody (as with any artist).
But, that said, she does her thing very well. I just finished watching my tape of that 2002 NBC special on Elvis, "Elvis Lives." Norah, her bassist, drummer and guitarist performed a wonderfully mellow cover of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" I don't even like Elvis songs, but I loved their treatment of that song. Adam Levy's guitar solo was fluid like water. I can't wait for the next album. | |

I'll still give it a chance, Norah is of outstanding effort and ability in her chosen genre of music, very natural vocals. I find her voice, style and songs to be Unique and True. | |

There will be the inevitable backlash with Norah. I think it will be smart if he company sticks to the plan and does a low-key release. No hype, no hubbub, that way if it 'flops' like John Mayer's last effort, it won't be as visible. And of course it will "flop" compared to her 1st album. That was a complete fluke. I like Norah, but she became an unlikely sensation in the past years. 80% of the people who bought that 1st album will move on to the next sensation. Then she can hunker down and carve out the career she really wants. | |

Exactly, but this why it kills me that people still cant except PRINCE and his decrease in sales. I mean everyone has that BIG album in their career, some have 2 or 3 but it all comes back to reality when people go follow the next trend. Not that I think NORAH or PRINCE are TRENDS but alot of people bought NORAH because everyone else had it, and alot of People bought PURPLE RAIN because everyone else did. So all artists have it, I mean heres a few to name some, JAGGED LITTLE PILL, GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD, CRACKED REAR VIEW MIRROR, CRAZY SEXY COOL,etc...But its more about what u do after and how u adapt to not being the COOL TREND at the moment and how U further your art. tell you what I was the last person to purchase but I love the vocals.
Audiophiles will love it for a beautiful mix. love what her and Andre did... just a few lines no headlines on the sticker w/ NORAH JONES IN BOLD>>> very cool... second track is superb on her first disc. Music is the best... | |

norah jones' debut was very tracy chapman's third for fourth release..
a nice listen but nothing wonderful..."dont know why" was the best of the lot? errr... that being said, the album was a nice listen...but, nothing to scream bout... why liz wright wasnt ordained as hip as norah is beyond me..her album is light years better... ohhh... www.lizzwright.net check it out!! I seen her on BET doing an Aretha Franklin song on a tribute show & was captured by her voice.I also got to hear a song of hers with a nice beat mixed with it. I didnt pay much attention to her at 1st,now I do.

I'm hoping Norah shakes the shy, stoic performances that marked her first release and that she distributes some of the soul and fire she did on the Peter Malnick (sp?) "New York" release. Didn't even sound like the same Norah, at times. | |

Norah Jones is still overhyped. Producer Craig Street made her debut what it was. She pales in comparsion to Alana Davis -- who should receive the accolades and acclaim that Jones' is running to the bank with. Just check out Alana's first two records (paying attention to the songwriting and the instrumentation) and you'll see that Norah is lackluster in comparison. | |

I really liked the last CD but got burnt out from overexposure. I'm excited to see how he advances from here. | |

I am really looking forward to Norahs' new album. I got a gift cert. for christmas at HMV and that's what I will be buying with it. I think she is fabulous and a true talent. She didn't have to take off her clothes or dress like a skank to sell 8 million copies of her debut album. She has a voice like an angel and I can't wait to hear her new music. | |
