Bee Gees remasters.

I've heard that Universal plan on remastering the Bee Gees back catalogue sometime later this year. About freakin' time, too! I must say I'm chuffed tho'. Last word was that it wouldn't be until 2005!! I hope there are some unreleased gems added to them and full lyrics also.

So that's the Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush (although hers were due out in '99!!!) that are all getting the remastered treatment this year. Now, how about The Beatles and Prince!

Kate Bush edit.

What albums are they gonna re-master? I hope it's these...

'Main Course' (1975)
'Children Of The World' (1976)
'Spirits Having Flown' (1979)

and while they're at it,why not just go ahead and finally release the 1973 'A Kick In The Head...' album, which has never been offically released (it's been circulating as a bootleg for years though).

I think these are all due:

Bee Gees First ('67)
Horizontal ('68 )
Idea ('68 )
Odessa ('69)
Cucumber Castle ('70)
2 Years On ('71)
Trafalgar ('71)
To Whom It May Concern ('72)
Life In A Tin Can ('73)
Mr Natural ('74)
Main Course ('75)
Children Of The World ('76)
Spirits Having Flown ('79)
Living Eyes ('81)
E.S.P. ('87)
One ('89)
High Civilization ('91)
Size Isn't Everything ('93)

I don't know about A Kick In The Head. I know the brothers weren't fussed about it but I've heard most of the tracks and it's a stronger set than some of their other early '70's albums so I don't see why not.

Just sometime later this year. That's all I've heard. And I hope they don't get delayed. As the Bee Gees are the second biggest selling band they should've had the remastered treatment a long while ago!

Agreed. What did you think of the 'Saturday Night Fever' CD remaster from a few years ago (mid-90s,I think)? They were able to put all 17 songs on one CD this time. But wouldn't it be cool if they added a second disc, containing alternate versions,12" versions, outtakes plus the other songs that appear in the movie but not on the soundtrack?

I've never owned Saturday Night Fever on CD. boxed

As all their contributions were on the box set I just didn't get around to buying it. If it is also remastered with alternate takes and unreleased songs then I guess I'll add it to my list.

missing word edit.

I really hope the 1981 "Living Eyes" will be one of the title remastered.
The original CD is out of print from many years and the few copies I saw for sale on the web are really overpriced.
A real shame because IMO it's a very good album.

It sure is. Paradise, Don't Fall In Love With Me, I Still Love You, Wildflower & Nothing Could Be Good are among their loveliest ballads.

I've never heard the 'Living Eyes' album!! I do remember when it came out in 1981.It was their follow-up to the hugely successful 'Spirits Having Flown' so there was alot of anticipation and hype.I recall seeing the video for the title track,it featured the brothers singing in a roomful of kids.I wanna hear the rest of this album!!

There's very little falsetto on this album. I guess it was a knee-jerk reaction to the criticism of their late '70's sound. It's mostly ballads as well. In fact there is not a single dance tune on the whole album! The up-beat stuff is standard pop and not too great. But it's definately worth it for the ballads.
