Cuz the woman have been a heavy drug/alcohol-addict back in the day. How did she mentain 2 keep her SAME strong singing voice?

Whitney, Mariah(alcohol) and Mary didn't mentain their vocals' strength like she did even tho they went through similar stuff. How?

IMO she hasn't. She just bellows a lot now and doesn't really worry about hitting any notes. I'm sure I'll be flamed for that statement but listen to her live and tell me it isn't the truth.

Cause she big.

Chaka have the same powerful shit going on, the only thang is her voice went a lil' raspier(which is good in my opinion).

But back 2 the topic, alot of vocalists are trying 2 hold up with their vocal abilities like she did even tho they're going through like I said *negative changes* and still can't be the same?

Hey, tone and power -- to me -- are two different things. She had a lighter feel, IMHO, on the old cuts. it was sweeter than today's sound, which got kind of harsh to me during the '80s. Don't get me wrong -- she can still blow. But, she lost a shade of sugar in the past 20 years (which is probably to be expected, given her longevity).
