I bought a compilation CD cuz this was on it, only to find out the beginning, where he's talking, wasn't on there. I was so pissed off. I have loved this song every since the fiest time I heard it.

You are right, it was the Cameosis album. I actually like that version better. But when you talk Cameo slow jams, we have to start with Sparkle and work back from there.

There is a compilation CD with BOTH on there, ya know?! I'll try to find the title of it for you since I have it!

Nice choice, Handclaps..

Like you, I prefer the "original" version of this song; the 2nd version, which appeared on "Cameosis" was too "chatty" at the beginning of the song! I was like "SHUT UP, already- get to the verses!"

I like the 1st version better because it sounds.. "darker", maybe more.. "isolated"..
& I like the bassline after the main singing part of the song, & Wayne Cooper just goes off during his "background solo" while Larry (I presume) talks over the last part of the song. Yeah, the 1st version is much better. I wonder what motivated them to do a "remake" of an already good song?

I haven't heard that many other Cameo "slow jams"..
"Sparke" is okay to me, I really like "We're going out tonight" but that's not really a "ballad"
I'll see you tonight..

YOU ARE SO RIGHT on this, Handclaps! that yakking at the beginning of version2 seems to go on for 20 minutes!

I know that things change, people change.. but this hurts..
No- this long-winded pointless spoken intro SUCKS.
I'll see you tonight..

Cameo has a lot of great slow jams. It has always been one of their strengths as a group IMO. Other cool Cameo slow jams:

Better Days (Feel Me - 80)
I Care For You (Cameosis - 80)
Don't Say It's Over (In The Face Of Funk - 94)
Feel Me (Feel Me - 80)
I Never Knew (Knights of the Soundtable 81)

In my opinion, Wayne Cooper had the most beautiful falsetto I have EVER heard to this day. This cut is/was one of my favorite slow jams of all time. Good choice. Whatever version you like better, there's no denying that it is an EXCELLENT song. And Wayne was INCREDIBLE. No one can hold a candle to that boy. (R.I.P.)
