You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Son of Albert is hilarious! It's like songs that didn't make the Top Gun soundtrack.

No Jay, he was not shit. George was a very talented song writer with a magnificant voice and he was also a wonderful performer with a terrific sense of humour. His lyrics are meaningful, personal and very thought-provoking.

Throughout the 80s - Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 he was amazing basically his prime but after that? He wasn't the same anymore and he had a rough time throughout the 90s.

I like George,he is a great singer and good enough to play instruments on record(yeah that synth on Everything She Wants is all him) unlike Michael Jackson who put false credits on records.

But what bothers me about him it's he was such a Diva.He presented his struggle with being gay as

a really serious problem. You have people who work 3 jobs a day to support their family and here is this super rich pop star complaining all the time how terrible and hard life is.

He was much better in the 90s when the focus was on music.

George's music sounded great as long as he had bass player from Wham supplying the low end

Yes, George had personal issues, no doubt about that, but that didn't take away from his talent. Of course, this is my personal opinion, but to say he was shit, is just plain wrong. You should watch his live dvd from London. One of the best I've ever watched and I've seen it about 25 times now. Never get tired of it.

His songwriting and voice did not have a rough time in the nineties, it just got less pop.

I never do these list and I'm not doing this one but since he doesn't come up much here very often I'll say he had an awesome voice and his lyrical content had some serious substance.

I don’t shop for physical copies of music often that’s why, but if I go into a wrecka stow in the future and happen to see it, I’ll get it!

Sorry I just realized you didn’t reply to me, but yeah

His estate needs to get it together and release some of his final projects. I'd love to hear any album that was connected to "White Light" which is a great song that I bump to this day.

His career did, especially him and his record label.

The 80s - 1990 were his golden years.

Four of the songs made it out, though. And why Vol. 2 was shelved is something only known to GM.

It's not really an album, it's kind of a cut-down version of The Final, which was the name of the compilation Wham! released everywhere except the USA. The Final was also the name of accompanying live shows at the time.

I recognise that it's considered the third Wham! album in the USA but i'm not sure how much say George had in it at the time. I'm not against it, I do have a copy, but it's a bit of a strange listen with a remix of Wham Rap and a live track on there.

Any LP is an album. The contents of it does not matter. Like I mentioned in another thread, the E.T. Storybook by Michael Jackson is an album. A Greatest Hits/Best Of is an album, a remix album is an album.

rolleyes

Up next in pedantic opinions: "pop music just means it's popular."

Ok, what words do you use to differentiate between a selection of musical tracks, arranged by the artist, and a selection of sound effects on vinyl, and why do you think people could not work out what's being talked about using context?

I don't. I just said an album is an album. Which is why I put the E.T. Storybook & Blood On The Dance Floor on the Michael Jackson album list. "Album" does not mean music. It's a record that is played on a turntable or a tape or a CD, whether it's music, stand up comedy, poetry, children's stories, sound effects, speeches, Christmas songs, or whatever. It can be live or a compilation like K-Tel or Time-Life. They give out Grammys for best spoken word album.
