John legend is so overrated

Is it just me or does he get too much props? I think he’s so boring, anyone else feel that way?

its not just you, but he's not overrated...alotta people dont like him for some reason...ive been a fan since he first showed up in 2003 on Kanye West first album, on the bootleg version of "Homecoming" (not the wack lp version with Chris Martin and the different beat)...he's my favorite male singer right now...i LOVE his new album...and my 14 year old son looks JUST like him, so maybe im biased 😎...

I have to agree... In 2010, I was looking forward to seeing him open for Sade during her tour after really liking his song "Ordinary People" but the audience wasn't even half full for his set and he looked bored and was boring the whole time. Even though he had some women fanatics yelling for him, he didn't seem ro appreciate them... The real killjoy was when an older over weight woman "won" the chance to get serenaded by him on stage... Well, ole John could hardly hide the smirk on his face and laugh in his voice when he handed her a rose and she started dancing on the stage... The only other person in my section in the balcony--an old man--fell asleep and started snoring loudly... razz lol

On the other hand, not a single seat was empty when Sade took the stage and it was a performance to remember. Her ten years are up...and it's time for a new album!!! nod

CoolMF

Not a big fan but definately wouldn't call him "overrated". The dude's singing, piano skills, and songwriting are pretty top notch but, unfortunately, not my cup of tea.

Funny story! lol I probably would have fallen asleep too, and it seems he doesn’t appreciate his only fans

Burt Blackaract.......as I like 2 call him is a talented dude. I think his music is a bit off center though.

If u can find his music when he used his real name...u would see just how good he really was. That was some good material.

I've never understood this "overrated" business...Who's rating and what have they done to be the authority?

Don't care about Mr Legend's wife or his life but he's got a few tunes that work for me.

Do I celebrate his entire catalog? Definitely not but that's becoming less and less these days with artists.

"Burt Blackaract"..LOL...it all makes sense now...i love Burt Bacharach's music too...as a singer and songwriter...especially the stuff he did for the great Dionne Warwick and The Carpenters....he made some legendary, complex arrangements...it would be amazing to hear John Legend do some Bacharach joints..."Alfie", or "Close To You", or "I Say A Little Prayer For You" etc.

He’s too much of a cookie-cutter simpleton to take artistic risks like that

He is definitely talented but after his first album he became so middle of the road. A nice exception was his colloboration with The Roots.

Only can take him in small doses. Don't particularly care for that grit he sings with in his voice.

He has a few songs in his catalog I like. I still wouldn't call him overrated. He's talented.

Not feeding any troll, nor do I know the reason for you calling this poster a troll, but I do think that John Legend is full of hate, in which he himself has shown over and over again. From what I've seen of him, he doesn't seem like a nice person, but that's just my opinion.

Prince.org

where the awful sounding no-talent David Bowie, is hailed as an artistic genius and talent...while the far more talented singer, John Legend, is ridiculed as "overrated" and "full of hate"... funny

I would say Prince.org is right and you are not.

I really liked Ordinairy People but IMHO Legend never reached that level again. I am also in the camp who thinks John is quite boring and MOR. Although I don't like all of his work, Bowie to me was a far more exciting artist on an artistic level.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
