John Legend closed out the second night of the Democratic National Convention with a heartfelt rendition of his song, “Never Break,” though everyone’s hearts had already been stolen by a (likely cold) plate of beachside calamari earlier in the evening. Tracee Ellis Ross, who emceed throughout the night, introduced Legend’s performance, which of course included a piano. “The song is about love, hope and resilience, and I think we could all use some of that right now,” Legend said of the track, which is off his newest album, Bigger Love. The 2020 DNC performers have so far included Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, and Billy Porter, who undoubtedly stole the show with a truly superlative cape. The convention continues tomorrow with performances from Billie Eilish and Jennifer Hudson. You can catch up on last night’s events here.

I liked Phil Collins.

Even ?uestlove laughed when someone on OkayPlayer said they did not like John Legend's "folger blend soul" when The Roots backed him on the album sold at Starbucks.

I liken John's voice closer to a Barry Manilow than Phil Collins. I bet if John recorded an album of Showtunes, it would do very well for him. He has that kind of voice. I can see him in a top hat and dancing around with a cane.

When you are handpicked by the "agenda" to represent your "people" you automatically become a puppet of the industry. not to say hes a bad person or all but as soon as he was picked, he was on every TV show, every award show show and gained national attention worldwide in such a matter of time. This is a mark of a puppet. Its no different in politics and sports as well. Yes he;'s talented however he does not have the hits to support his popularity. To put it in a better perspective, think of John Legend as the modern day Lionel Richie. He's the peoples choice if you will.
