Good thing Twitter doesn't have a door, it would definitely hit her on the ass on the way out.

That picture is more smoke and mirrors than an RJ Reynolds funhouse. Besides, her calf is as big as a Toyota, and I've never had a fetish for cars.

Fat shaming. How thoughtful of you.

Or perhaps, just stating sarcastically, what he/she really think, in which of course in our pc world that we currently live in, that's no longer allowed.

Nah. It just used to go unchallenged when OPPOSING views didn't have a platform.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Interesting thread.
For those saying Prince was more appropriate, did it on stage...you are missing my original point.
When Prince did it, it was a publicity stunt. Whether during Dirty Mind, or at the American Music Awards or most famously the "Get Off" MTV award.
What Lizzo did is a publicity stunt...plain and simple..and a very effective one because it got people talking. That was done in October(I think) and we are still talking about it. By its very nature you have to push the envelope with publicity stunts. She cannot do what Prince did 20 to 30 years ago...she has to be more outrageous. Hence in the middle of a basketball game.

Good to know that fat shaming is still in vogue in 2020. Heavyset ppl etc are the one group that people are allowed to ridicule and shame etc. with no consequences. PPl are awful. "Climb in my fur."

Humans have been shit since biblical times....and when you put your business on social media, expect to get ridiculed. So you either grow a pair or stay off that shit.

People come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Stop hatin on Lizzo just because she is a full sized woman.

It would have definitely been an issue if she were a size zero. She showed her open ass at a sporting event with children present. It SHOULD be an issue. Just because she "represents" a segment of the population, it doesn't give her free reign to do whatever and go unchecked. She did some hoe shit and got called out on it. The fat shaming was extra and uncalled for to the extent that it was but if she had sat her ass in her seat, no one would have said anything other than "Is that Lizzo?" "Cool" and so on. Inste4ad, she decided to be a spectacle, operating under the "all exposure is good exposure" premise and got taught a lesson. Hope she learns from it.
Anyone else, male or female, would have been ejected from the arena. Her celebrity status was the only thing that saved her from the same fate.

Sounds like something Prince would sing. "We're not hitchhiking anymore!....we're riding!!"

Again, people come in all shapes and sizes. We don't know if there is a underlying medical problem. She's a full sized woman and she's beautiful. Just because she's not a size 0 doesn't mean she isn't beautiful.

The NHS is under tremendous pressure due to creeping privatisation and years of deliberate underfunding for ideological reasons. This is a matter of public record.
The NHS is there for anyone who needs it. It is irrelevant whether they are overweight, underweight, smokers, non-smokers, white, black, drivers, cyclists, horse-riders, surfers, alcoholics, mothers, fathers, old 'uns, young 'uns... in short, it is for anyone and everyone, irrespective of whether they are at a higher risk of specific issues or not.
It's the whole point of the NHS.
Singling out a single section of society and then blaming them for the underfunding of the NHS is straight out of the Tory/Daily Mail playbook.

But you are not a doctor in a one-to-one consultation with this woman, so you therefore should not use medical terminolgy to decribe the physical appearence of someone when you already know that they would prefer to be called something else.
As for your second point, yes of fucking course I would encourage and attempt to boost the confidence of someone who may be having weight issues, whichever end of the scale they were at.

There are many reasons why someone could be overweight/underweight - it may not be as simple as someone 'choosing' to have weight issues.
The vast majority of people in the UK will need support from the NHS at some point whatever size they are. If you want to start witholding NHS care to certain individuals because of their lifestyle no-one would ever get treatment.
A woman who chooses to get pregnant will inevitably need support from the NHS. Are you saying they should be denied access to maternity care because of their lifestyle choice? Are you saying some black women should not be offered maternal care due to her offspring possibly having a higher than average chance of accesssing the NHS at some point in the future with Sickle cell issues?
Or how about smokers/drinkers/meat eaters? Or someone choosing to live next to a busy road? Or someone who likes salty snacks? Or someone who chooses to drive/cycle/walk/run/play/excercise...
All these activities - and pretty much every other activity you can think of - can result in short term and/or long term injuries/conditions that will require NHS support.
I prefer to let people live their own lives without judgement, and support them should they ever need me to offer it.
