Interesting observation. The last 3 albums have definitely been catchy and 'poppy' and she was accused of chasing trends and 'trying to be young'. On this album, she's gone deeper and has substance over melody or catchiness... she can't win!

Thank you so much for that post, I was wondering why it sounded odd and it was my only criticism of the whole album and I felt the vocals at the start spoilt the song, but now I understand why it was deliberately recorded that way, it makes sense. Such an amazing album !!

One thing I forgot to add - I brought the Deluxe version with "the book" as I wanted the 3 bonus tracks - but for $48 Aussie Dollars - it sure was expensive for what you got and I nearly feel off my chair when I took delivery of it. The "book" is only a CD Jewel Case size, the photos are not that great in it and the middle of the " book" has staples in the middle of her face!! It is not really a book at all. The CDs are housed in either ends of the "book" in a cardboard slot, which means that they can get scratched getting them in and out (and of course being cardboard can tear). I have removed the CDs and put in a double CD Jewel Case to protect them from damage. The Deluxe is not worth paying the extra money for if you are wanting the book - and I think the 3 bonus tracks were right to be left off the main album (as they are more dance tracks in comparison) but the album itself is fantastic - just I did feel the Deluxe was overpriced and it left me feeling a little exploited by the Music Company to pay so much more for so little in return. I know nobody made me buy it, but when you read the description online it did say "book" - this is more like a booklet that would normally be included with a jewel case in the "old days" I think? But the album content itself is astounding, even if the Deluxe Packaging is a let down.

I also have that 2-CD Deluxe Edition.I mainly bought it just to get the 3 bonus tracks.

me too, I brought for the 3 bonus tracks - but still they work out at $10 Aussie dollars per track - it was a big jump in price from the standard to the deluxe that is for sure. But the album is an incredible piece of creative art, I am loving it.
