In an earlier post, I said that MJ, the artist, is just fading away and how it's been such a long time since a discussion about him revolved around new music. In my mind, I was contrasting the MJ situation with Prince fandom and how they have been able to continue enjoying his artistry and the new music without any kind of drama and his star continues to grow in death and how it's just unfortunate for MJ fans. Some understood it as let's just focus on the music and forget the guy's piccadillos. That wasn't it.

I don't condone child abuse or any kind for that matter. I'm in the camp of those who believe that there's a good chance MJ was a child-molester and that his lifestyle and behavior fed those suspicions. At the same time, all his accusers have been up to some shady shit at one point or another. Going back to 93, we have Evan's recorded phone call and the grifters in 05 and now these guys with this whole repressed memory shit. I just don't get it. I'm willing to admit that maybe the thought of having to disown the artist I've been a fan of for 20-odd years is something I struggle with. But for me both sides are suspicious.

Now there's things I'm ignorant about, like somebody said that they had found MJ sperm in one of those nude photo books. What's the source of this? Is this incontrovertible? Cause if so, it lends credence to the accusations. Also, I haven't seen the new documentary and I'm unwilling to dismiss it as a scam, but since I live in Cuba the chances of watching it are pretty slim. Those of you who have seen it: does this documentary present any experts breaking down what happened to them at a psychological level? Is it scientifically substantiated? Are any dissenters featured?

One of the things I've always resented about MJ and was suspicious of was MJ's lack of vehemence when the question was put to him if he was a child molester. Remember the Ed Bradley interview when Brad asked him if the accusations were true and he said no I would never hurt a child? Those kinds of equivocal answers left him open to interpretation. In light of the bits of testimony I've read put forth by these guys, I wonder if he was trying to convince himself that what he was doing wasn't harming anyone.

At the end of the day, the world has always been divided between people who have always believed that MJ was a pedophile, those who are reasonably suspicious, those who try to explain everything away and those who have blind faith in MJ's innocence. I venture to say that this will not change. Somebody said that there was the impossibility of a clincher that finally convinces everybody and ends the argument, so what is this going to mean?

his music is going through a surge if what i'm reading is true. he's not going anywhere, he was that potent an artist, he may go through up and downs but newer generations will look back and realize that there was something special about the guy, he was that great and singular. Personally, i haven't changed anything in my mind since this story came out, i haven't gotten to see the docu but I think I have a good idea of what it is, a 4 hour, overdone thing telling of how sneaky and nasty michael was, over and over again. the boys look sincere but that doesn't mean much, they are still asking for money as if michael didn't give them enough, didn't the one boy say he bought them a house or something? Hate to be crass but most kids who get molested don't get shit but the trauma, and the fact is, they are still after money even though they haven't had much luck yet so i think they are pushing for that still no matter what they say.

i love dl but no one has given mike passes beyone 1990, even before the pedo stories people had some reservations about the man. you'd have to go all the way back to 82-84 to get to the time when everyone loved him. those times were great, sometimes i look back at footage and sometimes find it hard to believe it's even the same guy

That could easily describe the artist formerly known as that this site is made for...

certainly, sometimes i wonder what prince's career would have been like without a michael, first off, michael pulled the entire business out of aa slump and second, he created a need for rivals, prince and springsteen fit the bill. I love all three because that's just the kind of artist i am, people usually tease me way more for springsteen than they ever have about Michael or Prince.

Untrue. No evidence of that kind has ever been found.

Does this documentary present any experts breaking down what happened to them at a psychological level?

No.

Is it scientifically substantiated?

No.

hug Oh, man. I am so sorry this happened to you, but thank you for this post. It kind of drives home the whole insidious nature of these kinds of abuses and from what I have read many victims say the same thing - that they not only admired their abusers but that they made them feel special and adored --- but really, the victims were just too young to know that what they were actually experiencing was abuse. 'Neverland' will strike a chord with you as they basically express very similar feelings.

[Edited 3/8/19 17:06pm]

Indeed. The documentary was tough to watch with the graphic details of the abuse and more so for those watching who are also victims of child sexual abuse. I, too, am sorry for what happened to you and appreciate your sharing your story.

Thanks for your responses..

I have now watched part 1 and part 2

AND Oprahs interview..

Tough to watch..

I understand why Oprah took this on and also why she chose to do so with an audience of Victims..

You cant fool someone who has gone through the same experience...

A couple of things are clear to me

1)Michael Jackson was a Phaedophile and he groomed to whole world into

believing that for HiM to sleep with little boys was normal.

He was adamant that it was a loving thing to do...and to this day

despite everything there are people who will defend him

The people who are challenging this documentary could not have watched it all the way through..

Everything is laid out and really leaves no room for questions...

2) Its clear that for people who have experienced sexual abuse the path to healing from it BEGINS with telling the story...I myself can attest to that....by Telling...a person who has endured sexual abuse unburdens themself from the guilt and pressure they feel.

Sexual predators are excellent at making the victim feel responsible.

I feel very compassionate for Michael,

who knows what went on in his past that he didnt dare reveal...

The pain he carried from that must have been really bad...

and as with all Victims, relief comes from either revealing secrets and thus unburdening themselves

OR perpetuating the same kind of abuse upon others.

Michael chose the latter...

and I feel so sorry for him, and the people whose lives he ruined...

One thing is for sure..

There will be others who come forward...

This documentary was very beautifully done,

and will no doubt give the others strength and courage..

We will never know for sure as only Michael could confess it, but from seeing the documentary I am pretty convinced.

Michael admitted sleeping with children alone in his bed in the Bashir interview, that is not normal bahaviour and should never have happened, so that's enough of a wrong doing in my book, without the further allegations of this documentary, which are more believable based on the facts Michael admitted.

Right, people who have been abused themselves know whether someone is telling the truth or lying. Only them.

Wow. And another fool fell for it.

So, any one who has been abused and doesn't talk about it, will abuse someone themselves. Just wow.

I agree with your final statement 100%

However, your comment 'another fool who fell for it' implies that you feel morally and intellectually superior to anyone who believes differently to yourself on the matter, and that those who do believe differently should be insulted. I fail to see how that approach benefits anyone on either side of the argument.

Surely it is neither foolish nor wrong to have reasonable doubts, whilst at the same time not believing it to be beyond a reasonable doubt.

Well. When somebody falls for a 4 hour movie consisting of onesided, uncontested storytelling and after that concludes that there is no question that someone is a pedophile, overlooking all the inconsistencies that put everything in doubt, then that is foolish. That person is not talking about reasonable doubt here.

in thinking of this, i can't help but think of all the stories, big and small that conflict with each other that i read about in great men, (malcolm x, elvis, Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee) so many books, so many people so many axes to grind. The last major book about Malcolm x had some stupid shit in it about some supposed homosexual experiences, about him cheating on his wife, it was pretty much a hackjob done by a desperate author who needed money. the only things I came away changing my mind about was that Malcolm's wife had cuckolded him, there were letters from corraborating that, it was surprising but I had to accept that, Betty Shabazz did seem domineering too but I just would never peg Malcolm for being dominated by any woman. She did though, threatened him with cheating, and did it, chastised him with being bad in bed, just all kinds of mindfuckery. that was true, the rest of that piece of shit book? I didn't really believe or disbelieve any of it.

There will be others who come forward...

This documentary was very beautifully done,

and will no doubt give the others strength and courage..

Right, people who have been abused themselves know whether someone is telling the truth or lying. Only them.

Wow. And another fool fell for it.

So, any one who has been abused and doesn't talk about it, will abuse someone themselves. Just wow.

I went in with an open mind....I fell for nothing...

I rationalised rather than emotionalised...

The rational behind Oprah previewing to a group of abused people is NOT that they are the only ones who could distinguish a lie from the truth...

but rather...

They are the ones who would immediately sense any hint of unauthenticity since they know EXACTLY what sexual abuse feels like and what behaviours are likely to follow as consequence.

If you have NOT been sexually abused you simply DO.NOT.KNOW !!

and Yes...its a documented fact that people who have been abused are more likely to go on an abuse if they have never admitted to the abuse which equates to seeking help...

Its very clear to me that you have NOT Watched the documentary in its entirety....

This thread is just like a reminder of all the hoopla on this site and other ones, before and after MJ passed. Too bad it is currently the most active thread on a Prince site next to the R. Kelly debacle. disbelief

How are you with accepting that maybe we will never, can never, know the truth?

Maybe implies that there is some hope that we will... The more people speak out (for or against Michael) the more chance there is to find out. If people keep silent, it doesn't help of course.

Well there's always hope but I don't have my fingers crossed on a definitive answer ever being agreed upon. I was at a wedding over the weekend and the one Michael Jackson tune played by the DJ did not go down well.

There really is such mass hysteria regarding this documentary right now. It's sad that we can't even question the legitimacy of their claims without being labelled a pedophile apologist. I'm not even a huge MJ fan but I have an open mind enough to look at both sides. The majority of people are taking this documentary at face value without even researching MJ's side of things.
