R.I.P. Chris Cornell of Soundgarden & Audioslavel dead at 52

http://www.drfunkenberry.com/2017/05/17/breaking-soundgarden-audioslave-lead-singer-chris-cornell-dead-at-52/

Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden & Audioslave has died at the age of 52. Cornell’s rep confirmed the musician died late Wednesday night.

The only report we have right now is that the death was “sudden & unexpected” and his wife and family are in shock. The family will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine cause of death and they ask for privacy right now.

Story developing.-DocFB

Diagnosis: Here is Chris covering PRINCE’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” a couple years ago.

Horrible, horrible news. Chris was one of my favorite singers, and Soundgarden were one of my favorite bands. Right about now there's lot of grieving people out there.

Kurt, Layne, and now Chris...

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

So young and such a great voice. Wood, Staley and now Cornell. This is depressing.

I was shocked to see this in the headlines this morning. So sad. I am not a huge Soundgarden fan however, they were a huge part of the whole grunge era. He was very talented and had a unique voice. I think he was struggling with depression. He had quit drinking and drugs, so obviously something was going on in his life to make him do this. He was so young, just 52 years old. My God, what is going on??

He struggled with depression. Depression and drugs, not a good mix. Sad to see these talented souls who have so much going for them, but depression and drugs takes hold. This sucks!!

It's such a juxtaposition to being on stage and performing hours before, then being in a state that causes one to act out by hurting themselves.

Hutchence suffered from depression coupled with alcohol & drug abuse. He had called his manager and said "I've fucking had enough", and died sometime shortly after that. I wonder if anyone heard from Chris before he decided to end his life so violently.

I don't suffer from depression, and I don't really drink; I've never done drugs. I can't fully understand what someone goes through with depression, but I fully recognize it's severity and control on someone's life and thought process.

Prince’s music is the soundtrack to the soulful and beautiful universe he created, and we have all been privileged to be part of that amazing world.

I performed his song "Nothing Compares 2 U" for the first time a couple months ago. It has a timeless relevance for me and practically everyone I know.

Sadly, now his own lyrics in this song could not be more relevant than at this moment, and I sing them now in reverence as I pay tribute to this unequaled artist who has given all of our lives so much inspiration and made the world so much more interesting.

We will miss you Prince!!!

And we will miss you, Chris. rose RIP

I know what you mean! I think performing and being on-stage gives a person an incredible "high". And, if you combine that with drugs/alcohol, and depression; it's not gonna end well.

.

You probably know that Hutchence was in a custody battle with his daughter, Tiger Lily (child with Paula Yates). Hutch had spoken to Bob Geldolf the night before he died and he was very upset. I think Geldof drove him mad!! There jury is still out on his cause of death. He loved his daughter more than anything and I just don't think he would have comitted suicide, but that's another story.

Like Michael Hutchence. sad

There is still some debate about what Michael was doing. The tour that he and INXS were on at that time was being viewed as a comeback/greatest hits tour, new label, but some close to him say he was so into his solo recording that this was going to be the end of him and the band. The other angle was a sex act gone wrong, a book on auto erotic asphyxiation was found in the room and he was naked with a belt around his neck on the back of a door which because of the weight broke and he fell on the floor and the maid in the hotel found him. It was ruled a suicide because of the drugs and such in his body and his depression but he too was filmed that afternoon laughing it up in the studio and then having dinner with his dad .

I don't know what to think about the sex act thing. His bandmates dispute that. He was very depressed with the custody battle he was having with Bob Geldof at the time. None of it makes any sense because he had dinner with his Dad the night before, like you said. And, he was awaiting the courts decision about his daughter the following day. I saw his rehearsal the day before he died, and he looked fine. But, one never knows, do they?

No I agree Michael is for a mystery, he hid it well those days, he looked up but who knows, at the time his dad said a few years later in hindsight I should have seen he was hiding things and putting on an act that he was fine, but he was talking about the album, a part in From Dusk TIll Dawn which he was cast for with his dad and manager to go a total 180 and take his life because of that judgement something more had to be going on in his mind and holding on to more.

He apparently was found in the bathroom with something around his neck, so either suicide or possible accident during autoerotic asphyxiation
