You probably know that Hutchence was in a custody battle with his daughter, Tiger Lily (child with Paula Yates). Hutch had spoken to Bob Geldolf the night before he died and he was very upset. I think Geldof drove him mad!! There jury is still out on his cause of death. He loved his daughter more than anything and I just don't think he would have comitted suicide, but that's another story.

I don't know what to think about the sex act thing. His bandmates dispute that. He was very depressed with the custody battle he was having with Bob Geldof at the time. None of it makes any sense because he had dinner with his Dad the night before, like you said. And, he was awaiting the courts decision about his daughter the following day. I saw his rehearsal the day before he died, and he looked fine. But, one never knows, do they?

No I agree Michael is for a mystery, he hid it well those days, he looked up but who knows, at the time his dad said a few years later in hindsight I should have seen he was hiding things and putting on an act that he was fine, but he was talking about the album, a part in From Dusk TIll Dawn which he was cast for with his dad and manager to go a total 180 and take his life because of that judgement something more had to be going on in his mind and holding on to more.

.

Michael was dealing with a lot. He was such a sweet soul and did not deserve the cards he was dealt. I still miss him, to this day. Such a tragic loss that shouldn't have happened. We just never know what someone is dealing with on the inside. God rest his soul. heart

Depression, combined with drugs never ends well.

.

Not sure if drugs were involved, but he had a history of addiction.

- Yes, but I said it because sometimes people cant understand how a person who had a lovely family, or whatever, could take his/her own life. Some of them (not you, of course) often call these people egotistical ("He has 3 children. Didnt he think about them?") but the situation seems to be so hard that a person almost has no choice.

,

In some cases, like Kurt Cobain, who always looked depressed, we understand more and could feel it coming. But some years ago, a brazilian artist went to a dinner with his wife and some friends. When they got home, he locked himself in the studio and committed suicide. And nobody who was with him in the restaurant said they noticed anything strange about him. Same thing about Cornell. His wife said he didnt show any sign he would do it.

This fucking sucks. For me, Chris Cornell (along with my other favorite Layne Staley) was one of rock's greatest vocalists. I couldn't get enough of his music, whether it was Soundgarden or Audioslave.

Horribly sad and shocking news. Easily the greatest rock singer of our times and a truly incredible songwriter. Grateful for all the awesome music he blessed us with. Sad that someone so awesome and loved must have been in so much pain that they felt they had to kill themselves. He's with God now.

AND WHY IN THE WORLD IS THIS NOT A STICKY????? ABSOLUTLEY RIDICULOUS.

Woke to this sad news this morning. Can't even wrap my head around it yet, being on tour again and all, happily married (according to his tweets a few days ago), kids. RIP Chris. Damn.

I think this has hit me harder than any other celebrity or musician death in my lifetime. There was a stretch of time when I was obsessed with Soundgarden and the music those guys made (with Chris obviously having a very large role in writing their music/lyrics) has influenced me quite a bit as a musician. Luckily I was able to see them live 3 times when they toured for the King Animal album. I'll always cherish those memories and the beautiful music Chris made throughout his lifetime. R.I.P.

I'm in Detroit where it happened so the news cycle is different. I guess it hasn't gotten out that his wife called a bandmate to check on him as they'd had an argument during which she hung up on him

Not sure if drugs were involved, but he had a history of addiction.

He did have an off-and-on history with substance abuse, yet his worst days were as a teenager, but he said music saved him and got him sober. In fact Soundgarden was known to be a teetotaling band compared to their contemporaries like Nirvana and Alice in Chains. He did relapse with painkillers and alcohol around 2000 when he had some type of injury and was also going through an ugly divorce, but he cleaned himself up again. However, he admitted to suffering from clinical depression ever since his teen years, so this makes his death all the more tragic.

Gosh, I don’t want to write a ‘book’ but Clinical Depression is a level of depression that is not easily described; it’s more than a bad day, it’s finding yourself in a deep dark hole where any life joy is eaten away by this monster (the disease) and there is seemingly no way out. In fact, many who do resort to suicide appear at peace and in some cases happy, in the days prior to death, as they have made their decision and are fianally at peace knowing their pain will end. This is another disease (in addition to addiction) which is so misunderstood and is tears families apart.
.
So much more education is needed. Drug use is a form of self medicating, the depressed person does not know or realize that real treatment is available, and does not realize that it is not weakness to accept help. In addition, the person has to be convinced there is something to live for which is a difficult task even when the person has a loving family, is otherwise healthy and all the money they need. Clinical depression much of the time does not go away… one always has to be on the lookout for symptoms and take action when warning signs first appear in a relapse situation or when current medication is not adequate any longer. I am not a professional, just someone who has seen the effects of clinical depression and what it does to families first hand. If I’ve stated anything wrong, someone please correct me.
.
I am so sorry for this man’s suffering and send my condolences to his friends and family. Such a loss. RIP Chris.

I don't have words yet, probably never will. I've dealt with death both tangible and peripheral a lot in the last few years and I just don't know that I have anything left to say about it. Here's this. Surprised it hasn't been posted yet.

Summer nights and long warm days
Are stolen as the old moon falls
My mirror shows another face
Another place to hide it all
Another place to hide it all

And I'm lost behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
Dreams have never made my bed

And I'm lost behind
The words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Now I wanna fly above the storm
But you can't grow feathers in the rain
And the naked floor is cold as hell
This naked floor reminds me
Oh the naked floor reminds me

And I'm lost behind
Words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

If I should be short on words
And long on things to say
Could you crawl into my world
And take me worlds away?
Should I be beside myself
And not even stay

And I'm lost behind
Words I'll never find
And I'm left behind
As seasons roll on by

Greatest rock singer of his generation in my opinion. Soundgarden was one of the great bands. I like the Audioslave stuff too. I looked at Chris Cornell as being the next Robert Plant. I am shocked and saddened by this news. Rest in peace Chris.
