Anyone else disappointed in JT?

No I didn't watch it.

Yes it's petty.

But....just 3 months after Justin Timberlake declared Prince was the ultimate...he shows up on the Teen Choice Awards and thanks all the greats who inspired him...Michael Jackson, Stevie, Aretha, etc. quotes Ali...but nary a peep on our man.

Of course it's meaningless in the big scheme but it just bothers me.

He's gone three months and, for some, it's like he's gone.

I didn't hear about that until now, but I have been disappointed with TV (cable) for the same reason. That reminds me. There is one show coming up on tv I will top-post about.

JT's style immulates MJ. I doubt he listened to much Prince as a kid. I think he was probably saying who honestly inspired him. He respected Prince and knew his significance in music, but may not have been inspired by him.

Pfft. He's blatantly ripped off Prince along with Stevie and MJ. I know very little about JT outside the big hits and even I can tell that.

That said, they had minor beef, n'est-ce-pas? And maybe he thinks it's gauche to name-drop Prince so soon after his passing now that everyone is driving around blasting The Very Best of...

JT is no instrumentalist, and I appreciate his purposeful, non-name dropping.

Respectful.

That being said, they both had/have exceptional comedic gifts, in addition to certain musical gifts and long-term stardom aspects in common as well.

Timing is everything, just sayin'. Wait for it.....

Oh really? This was his Instagram post after P died:

It was Raspberry Beret. I was 4 years old. Yes, 4. I remember that I instantly loved it. "Mommy, who is that singing?" Seems weird but it's true. More than a "once in a lifetime" artist... Just a ONCE IN FOREVER ARTIST. I'm still in shock as I write this and I feel this overwhelming grief. But, we should all turn away from that and HONOR this musician that changed all of our lives, our perspectives, our feeling, our whole being. From another planet? Probably. Royalty, for sure. Us worthy..? Laughable. They say don't meet your idols... That they let you down. But, some of my greatest, funniest (yes, he was hilarious), and most prolific encounters and conversations about music came from the moments that I spent with him. It would be silly to say that he has inspired our music... It's beyond that. He's somewhere within every song I've ever written. I am sad, but I will smile when I think of every second that I had the fortune of being in his company. We have lost our greatest living musician. But his music will never die. Prince, NOTHING COMPARES... #RIPPrince

When you say someone else is within every song you've ever written I think it's only natural to assume this person was an inspiration to you. JT's statement after MJ's passing didn't seem quite as heartfelt as this one obviously he was closed to MJ and honestly I think his music is closer to MJ's than P's.

JT is super fake because JT has mentioned Prince inspired him as well over the years. At one point, he mentioned Prince as an inspiration more so than MJ especially during the MJ trial. confused On Future/Sexx album that album's sound is completely inspired by Prince. JT has never mentioned Aretha Franklin as an influence so not sure why he mentioned her in his speech. Sometimes these stars just name drop certain names to be politically correct but one thing is for sure JT is the ultimate culture vulture and is beyond overrated.

I don't listen to his music.
I don't care what he says.
He could say that Prince is the
biggest influence on his music & life &
he cries everyday because he misses
Prince so much & I still wouldn't be
interested in his music or his thoughts.
He is a Pat Boone.
So no I'm not disappointed in JT.

Maybe he just forgot? It was apperently how he felt that moment. Who are we to say what somebody said in his speech? Its about what you feel about prince, not what others feel or not feel.

He better not give any credit to Prince after releasing that piece of garbage pop mess, "Can't Stop The Feeling" or whatever the fuck generic ass title he gave it.

Timberlake's touring band from the SexyBack era was the NPG, but I think it was Timbaland who was influenced by Prince and brought that angle in.

There are better reasons to drag JT than for not name-dropping Prince at something as meaningless as the Teen Choice Awards. Besides, aside from FutureSex/Lovesounds, JT has shown more inspiration from Michael than anybody else.

Alot of the disappointment towards JT is because of the way he treated Janet over the Superbowl backlash. He also likes to jump on bandwagons when its convenient to him.....and when the chips are down he is like a ghost. Plus alot of peope still remember the Prince diss in Give It to Me. The bottom line is some just don't like the phony vibes from JT. However, I still like some of his songs, and he was pretty good in The Social Network (2010).

Like I said, there are better reasons to drag him than this incident. Granted, you can include this in the "phony" category but it's lower on the list than what he did to Janet, for instance.

This thread is exactly what is wrong with the world . . .

And as usual, the same people who hate Justin Timberlake the most are the ones who are
doing the most posting. There's something wrong with the Org and with people in the inter-
net sphere, to be exact, where we love tear people down - gleefully. I bet some of y'all in
this thread couldn't wait to get in here and lambaste this dude.

Do you think Prince, "our man," would approve of all the negativity in this forum regarding
Justin Timberlake? Yeah, there was Prince's quip about "sexy back" but he wasn't tearing
Justin Timberlake to pieces; it was good natured. Jeezus; if you hate Justin Timberlake so
much, why even bother posting in Justin Timberlake threads? I know why: you get a morbid
kick outta beating this dude up because he's not what you want him to be.

"He's fake"

"He sounds like a squirrel"
"He'll be forgotten"
"Who cares what he thinks?"
"His music is poop"

Guess what? All of us are fake sometimes. When we sing, most of us absolutely suck. Most
of us will be forgotten when we pass away. And the world does not give a fuck what we think.
But boy, oh boy, we love to get together and belittle people trying to do their thing.

You guys are something else; sometimes, me included. And I should probably stop defending
this dude and stop coming in these negative threads that are really just too much. Have fun.
I forgot to add:

Love is heaven sent . . .

. . . it's glamorous.
