I don't know. I just figured that since Smith gave Petty a co-writing credit after Smith was informed his chorus was a note-for-note reproduction of Petty's "I Won't Back Down" chorus that Petty would be listed in the credits.

I sometimes think Kanye has great thing's to say. And i even laughed at his ''ima rush the stage'' moment last night. But his quotes about artistery could actually ring true. If it wasn't about a manufactored pop start. You gotta take a huge huge L on this keezy.

The Grammy people said the other day that they would not list Petty and Jeff Lynne as writers on "Stay With Me" for award purposes..WHY, I do not know...

Events like these make me hate Beyonce more. Her fans are insane and utter pathetic (Kanye included) and it keeps taking away from her music. I tried.. TRIED HARD to like her album. And it's not a bad album by any means. But her fans overrate her to an extent of GOD like proportions. Is it illegal to not like Beyawnce now? i better get out of America lol

Didn't you see that SNL skit last year, about how you HAD to love Beyonce, or ELSE !

What little I hear of her album did not paricularly impress me. "Drunk in Love" and "Flawless" have no real melodies. I prefer her older stuff, at least there were real SONGS and not endless droning or "beats"

I know, right? I didn't even notice what she was wearing till I got the text.

But according to John Legend it was Bey who approached him to sing the song.

Not only was that a foul thing to do but she literally butchered the song. If you listen to Leidisi or Mahalia, it's no contest.

What bothers me is that the media is actually praising that performance....they cannot be serious.

I wonder who will finally have the guts to call this mess out?

[Edited 2/9/15 13:01pm]

I think it was all about imagery and popularity, especially nowadays.

Maybe she was reacting to what Huckabee said about her but that was not the way to go about it. SMH.

It is scary that the music industry is trying to make beyonce the end all be all of music. nuts We have reached a new low here. People feel that entitled that they need to run and take the mic from artists who have been making artistic music since the 1980's????? Really Kanye? nuts

Kanye needs a therapist disbelief

THIS X10000

And i mean it when i say her gay fans. I'm gay... so it's not bashing. But her gay fans are half the reason eek if you say you don't like Beyonce you're dead. I've been called racial slurs because i don't like her music. I've also been told ''your momma should have aborted you'' because i didn't think Her last album was GODLY.

I've also been called a woman hater lol cause at my job they played her cd non stop for 2 week's. I asked if we could listen to something else. And they said ''fuck you! you must be intimindated by feminist and being flawless bitch''

rolleyes Buddha & Jesus take the wheel.

Her stans also need help nuts

I have NEVER understood a group of people that go so hard for a woman that would not spit on them if they were on fire! Whats funny is Beyonce indirectly jokes about how dumb her stans are but like sheep they continue to support her. I be damn if I put money in someone's pocket who don't give a damn about me Her stans are dumb, irrational, ignorant and are very immature. They worship Beyonce like she is God. They are a really sad lost bunch disbelief

Totally agree. I have no idea why she feels the need to oversing when she naturally has a decent voice. But the moment she goes on and on with completely unnecesary and excessive runs she just ruins the song. Mahalia's version is just perfect, not too much, not too little. Ledisi's version is clean and precise, a little less soul than Mahalia, but its perfect for her voice. Beyonce's version, I dont even want to hear it again.

Change it one more time..

I can't help wondering what her problem is. She is a good entertainer with a decent voice but she was out of her element here.

Leidisi could have used the exposure and what Bey did was foul and unnecessary...very disappointed in her.

A music critic on TV tonight just labelled Beyonce's album as a modern pop masterpiece.

And many are going in on how she was robbed by Beck.

Even Beck himself felt Beyonce was going to win.

Is this the biggest grammy "upset" since Esperanza Spalding beat Justin Bieber?

Do people REALLY think that Beyonce album is a masterpiece?

A MASTERPIECE???

i really dont get the hype over this album, i think people made themselves love it because they bought it unheard. when i heard about all these critics drooling over it i thought 'wow beyonce must have finally decided to make some real songs and not the silly girls in the hood anthems she's been known for', then i heard that drunk in love song and was like wtf is this, and thats the best song on the album. then she has like 7 songwriters on each song and about 15 producers on the album...but this is what kanye feel is great artistry while he disrespects beck, who writes and produces his own music.

No, only her sheeple. Other than that, its all about her popularity. You're supposed to like her and her music because it sold well, had a big first single and she's popular. Beck is right, that usually equals to AOTY. Sometimes they go the obscure route or the old geezer route with a veteran act.

-

I'm sure if it hits the fan enough where the dissent becomes a national story, she and her great PR team will issue a statement, offer a gesture towards Ledisi to try to make up for it, or post a picture on Instagram that supposed to reflect her apologies towards Ledisi and her fans. Afterall we can't let the cat out of the bag that she really believes that "this my shit." They've done a decent job in hiding her ego and selfishness from the general public.

-

If they try to stick with "the Grammys made me do it." That won't hold water thanks to John Legend spoiling that excuse on the red carpet.

This went right over the viewers heads:

During the middle of his performance, Williams and his backup dancers on stage — many outfitted in black hoodies — paused. Instead of singing, they allowed their hands to speak for themselves in a tribute to the #BlackLivesMatter movement that emerged last year to protest the killings of unarmed black Americans.

Source: Mediaite via CBS

The significance of the black hoodies and the "hands up" motion cannot be understated. Both images have been unmistakably synonymous with the broader movement against the killings of unarmed black people at the hands of police officers and vigilantes. The hoodies originally emerged as a form of protest following the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012 and the eventual acquittal of his killer, George Zimmerman. The "hands up" came immediately following the death of Michael Brown in August 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri, by a police officer

Shirley Manson's Open Letter to Kanye lol

Dear Kanye West,

It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry.

You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.

You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.

In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.

Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.

You are making yourself look like a complete twat.

Ps.I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own.

I watch Giuliana on E! News every night. Its really frightening to see her, or anyone else for that matter, so bone-skinny. But I remember when she was on E! one night and she announced she had, I think, breast cancer and she couldn't have a baby naturally, so that's probably why she looks like that. She and her husband Bill Rancic (who is foine as hell) had a surrogate and had their son the cutie-pie Duke Rancic. Yeah, TV makes people look bigger but when you see the reality like this its truly shocking.

The whole tone of the Grammys was different this year. It was tastefully done. It was family friendly, and a better influence for our youth - most of it! Perhaps they sent a memo! Maybe they toned down certain things because the President was going to speak? The music was great, real musicians on stage that can play instruments, and mixed old with the new! Loved it! Gospel too! Very impressive!

Did you even notice the attire - very toned down - most of it! smile

I really enjoyed the musicianship! Annie Lennox - WOW - so many great performances!
