Very happy with the album. I'm enjoying both the new versions and the old ones. This album seems to be getting great reviews overall from critics and music fans from everything I've been reading. Fave song has to be "Loving You" (new version) and "A Place With No Name" (original) but there isn't a bad song on here although I'm not crazy about the reworked version of "Do You Know Where Your a Children Are?". The original is far superior. Other than that, no complaints from me. Well done.

Loving the album and missing MJ right now.

I must say his voice really shines on this album. I've always thought he had one of the best and most unique voices around. On this album, it's really front and center.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I have no idea what you're talking about here as usual. Talking in circles once again.

There's no circus going on. FOR ONCE! which is rare when it comes to Michael. Yes the album is about making a profit of course if that's what you're alluding too. Of course this is a business and the estate and SONY will continue to make a profit. In the estate's case, I'm pretty sure MJ would want that since any money made by the MJ estate benefits Katherine and MJ's kids.

Anyhow, if some "fans" like yourself don't want to buy the album or aren't interested that's fine but it is silly imo to dismiss the project as being a "circus". I'm pretty sure you haven't even listened to the album.

This is why I don't get when people on this site say that MJ fans always love everything he does or worships everything he does. Clearly that's not the case. MJ fans complain about everything! The biggest complainers and most difficult fans to please after Prince fans lol. I swear.

If it was all about making a dollar only and not wanting to recognize MJ's artistry, they could've just re-released a super duper exclusive version of "Thriller" for the 5 billionth time.

They can be just like Whitney's estate and not do anything. They don't have to release any "new" MJ songs or albums or work on any MJ related projects and they could just let MJ fade away and be forgotten for good but then some fans would complain about that of course.

The point is that there's no conspiracy here. Nothing sinister going on. Please. Give me a break.

Even the included so called 'original versions' aren't good enough. Take blue gangsta - the 'original' one on the album is missing instruments. Listen to this http://m.youtube.com/watc...iqsEUMymzg and the instrumentation compared to the xscape deluxe edition version. Why didn't we get that quality in MJ solo form?

If they released this without the nonsensical rapping, then yes, it would be an interesting mix.

Been listening to this nonstop. Why don't they make this channel permanent? And they should include J5 and The Jacksons songs as well. Why MJ doesn't have a channel dedicated to him is beyond me.

I wonder if any of the BAD25 unreleased songs would have made the cut if they hadn't already been released. 'Al Capone' contemporized might have been something.

Important updates re: the MJ/JB Hologram performance

And

Michael Jackson Hologram

Lawsuit Threatens Billboard Music Awards Performance

5/16/2014 7:13 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0516-alki-mj-hologram2
A hologram performance by Michael Jackson -- the main event at Sunday's Billboard Music Awards -- could be put to sleep before it even hits the stage ... thanks to a last-minute lawsuit.

Alki David -- who says he controls the rights to the hologram technology -- filed suit late Thursday against the Michael Jackson Estate, MJ's production company and Dick Clark Productions ... to stop them from showing a hologram of Michael using David's technology.

According to the suit -- obtained by TMZ -- a life-size, projected 3D image of Michael will showcase a never-before-released Jackson song, "Slave to the Rhythm."

The MJ spectacle is similar to the Tupac Shakur hologram at the 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival ... which David claims was based on the same technology.

David says if Billboard goes ahead with the Jackson performance Sunday ... it will destroy his plans for a similar, high-profile holographic MJ performance. He wants a judge to stop it ... STAT.

Howard Weitzman, the lawyer for the MJ Estate, tells TMZ, "This is another Alki David stunt, no different than his claiming that Brandon Howard was Michael Jackson's son. It is ludicrous ... and the show goes on."

Well you did say the album was "never meant to recognize Michael". Just wondering what you meant by that exactly. From the way you talk, it sounds like you have some behind the scenes info or something.

Timbo mentions it on the documentary. I've only noticed it at the beginnning after he mentioned it. It's not supposed to be like that, i'm amazed that couldn't be fixed. But like Timbaland, i don't think it's all that bad. You got a good ear for spotting it though.

It was a DAT from around 1985 and who knows how it's been stored all these years. Yes, i noticed this right away but it only makes the song feel more nostalgic. Was this worked on with John Barnes? Barnes is still alive, I believe. I'd like to know more about the work Jackson and Barnes did in the mid 80's. Wonder if there is a way to contact Barnes and get some info.

Who is this Joe Vogel dude? Is he just a guy who is a big fan that wrote a book about unreleased stuff? I was wondering why he was included in the linear notes of Xscape and why he got to hear the album before it came out. Why doesn't this guy try to contact the likes of Barnes, Bottrell, etc. and get some real info. Was Loving You even included in his book as being unreleased?

He's the author of Man In The Music which came out a couple of years back.

I have no connection with Joe Vogel, but I would say without hesitation that this book is the single best book on the MUSICAL ART of Michael Jackson I have ever come across, and that any fan who love's Jackson's music and wants to know more about the story of his adult career through his music (which is the only thing that truly matters imo), then do get hold of this book cool .

Pretty much the only in depth study of the man's work, unfortunately. Still I agree, indeed a good book.

Yeah, it's pretty solid, only a couple of factual errors that i can't recall right now. Seems very well researched.

I was thinking about some of the tracks that had been included on Bad25 and The Ultimate Collection. 'I'm so Blue' is one that may have gone unnoticed on Bad25 (not by fans necessarily). That is a beautiful track and could have fitted well into this project.

'We've had enough' would have been another interesting one to have been re-worked

I can see another project like 'Xscape' somewhere down the line. Apart from perhaps the Black Keys crying foul, it's been a very positive response. People seemingly don't want or are prepared to let him go. That's a fact. biggrin

There's a fair bit of new interview material combined with dissections of old (and often grossly unfair) album reviews and some info taken from the gearslutz website. The most insightful contribution comes from Vogel himself with his assessment of Jackson's work, the cultural climate of the times and the impact the albums, songs, performances and videos had on the world of entertainment.

A book certainly worthy of your attention.
