I needed this. Thanks. Added: Sorry, Prince--Dave blows you away with this song... Dave, as usual, has dual meanings behind the song--but the song itself its great and so is the video with Tilda--hot and sexy... And so is David--with what work he has done... Pretty cool to see this much video footage of him. It's a nice video on its own right.
The song? I'll have to give it a few more listens. I like the production (somewhat reminiscent of Reality, Lodger etc.), but I'm not so sure about the melody and David's singing. Sort of the same thing as with the previous single.

this is one of the strangest videos I've seen recently.

The video has kinda the same idea as "Thursday's Child" from "Hours..." did, but he's just 10+ years older in it and it's more comical.

Good to hear more form his new CD. I like it - very good song. The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Good stuff. "Climb in my fur."

I still don't like it, I'm not sayin' it's bad , but it sounds like the standard pop/rock song that Bowie has occasionally released since 1993
not weird/eerie/overproduced enough
I hope the rest of the albums is more like Where Are We Now...

About a million times better than the first single, but I still don't find it mindblowing........ as for Prince comparisons, sorry, Screwdriver blows this away. |

I respect all opinions, man, but i had to laugh at that. Screwdriver is atrocious. Nothing artistic or fun about it, just a bad Grunge wannabe song with the most embarrassing catchphrase of the year.
David Bowie is DESTROYING Prince artistically this year and i much prefer Prince. I'm just not blind. It's telling because i'm usually so Prince positive.
Prince is being laughable with his new stuff and new statements (billboard interview) despite being refreshingly active.
Prince ain't cutting it with his new releases, they're beneath him. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream

There are tons of subtleties in the production, I dont know about the rest of you but I wouldnt call it bland rock sounds, though if you dont like, the review I read said it was one of the weaker songs. Still the lyrics are fantastic and it sounds inspired and new (espcially compared to a certain other....), not just a retread, and certainly better than most of the period of 1993-Heathen. Bowie managed to deliver big with Heathen and I'm thinking he will do it again.

Prince is taking more artistic risks by pushing a song like "Screwdriver" than David does with this one.
Not everyone here feels that the song doesn't have anything artistic or fun about it. You're in the minority with those comments.

I like the intro in the video. I wonder if it will be on the final album release as well. It would be cool if a David Bowie record would have that type of segments on it (a bit doomy, meandering, kinda like some of the stuff on 1.Outside just done with rock band instrumentation)

I have never been able to get into Bowie's music and it took three listens before I got into this one. Nice tune. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

the intro is from a bonus song on the album called "Plan". learned this from this review
