what are your thoughts on Andre3000?

Andre3000 is my favorite male artist... EVER!... but what do you think of him? How would you rate him as an artist, singer, rapper, etc.? Do you like his music?

I used to be a huge Andre fan some years back, but nowadays I aint feeling him that much, I think he kinda lost himself. I was just watching Outkasts (racist some would say, I think it was just stupid of Andre to make fun of pow wow & native americans like that, even tho he claims native ancestry and the song was some type of tribute) performance of Hey Ya at the Grammys in the early 00s and it's so funny how crazy he looked lol. But I think he's a talented artist and in his best years he was really different and thought outside the box, a very talented rapper who made a great combo with Big Boi (who doesn't get that much praise from people). I love that he learned how to play the guitar in his later years and is always trying to bring something new. I do like his music very much smile

I really like him as a rapper, back to the days of Players Ball and Elevators. Fiyah!!! cool

As a singer, lol, not so much. wink I do LOVE Prototype, but wish Prince was singing it instead. lol razz

It will be interesting to see how he's going to do in this Jimi Hendrix movie.

He's my favorite rapper and was one of the most promising artists of the 21st century for me. I think most of OutKast's albums are great in fact from ATLiens and on I think they're all classics (excluding the soundtrack album) with Stankonia being their masterpiece. But it's been disappointing for me because besides some excellent featured on performance Andre 3000 hasn't being doing like a solo album or a new OutKast album. Whenever he does decide to release something, I will listen to them immediately!

I doubt the movie will be good, when there won't be any Jimi music in it.

/ he Popdust Files: Andre 3000, Biopics, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Upcoming Soundtracks

There will be Andre 3000 music in All Is By My Side, his upcoming Jimi Hendrix biopic. Normally, this is very good news. (Have you listened to the Idlewild soundtrack lately? Or, really, anything Andre’s done last year?) It’d be even better news for a lot of people to hear Andre cover Hendrix songs. Sadly for them, this is not the case, as Experience Hendrix LLC, in charge of the Hendrix estate, turned him down.

Andre’s getting around this by performing songs that Hendrix covered, such as:

The Beatles – “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (Hendrix performed this in London, with Beatles members present)
Elvis – “Hound Dog”
Chip Taylor – “Wild Thing”
Muddy Waters – “Mannish Boy”
Curtis Knight and the Squires – “Future Trip,” “Driving Sound”

According to Rolling Stone, the Hendrix estate isn’t too happy. The following spokesperson quote may or may not lead to a changing of mind–you don’t invoke Abraham Lincoln if you’re not trying to be persuasive–although whether it’ll be the biopic’s or the estate’s change of mind remains to be seen.

one of the DA GAWDS of hip-hop.

Andre not only brougth a southern twang but on albums like Aqemini he brought some prog rock type style and made it hip-hop.

I don't use the word a lot but i do think he is a hip-hop genius.

Andre is a good pick to play Hendricks but Marlon Wayans would have been a good pick as well...

Where has Andre been hiding all this time? It's bad when these Artists/groups have their run then vanish....

I can do without his acting but as a rapper he's one of the best. He, Nas, and Big Daddy Kane are my personal favorites. If I had to choose one I'd probably go with Andre due to his creativity and originality. Outkast is the best rap duo by far-- sorry EPMD. They had two great rappers and an equally good production group behind them.
