Wow, I've seen pics from the same event but never this one. I seriously ask myself what people back then thought about MJ having such an uneven skin tone? It's always been a curiosity of mine and I always ask my mom whos an MJ fan and she just tells me, she didn't care about it. But I wonder what the media and his close friends thought? Did it never occur to friends he might have a skin condition? When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace -Jimi Hendrix

Ehm, someone sent me this video on youtube and it's creepy to watch because I feel like this shouldn't be posted online since she's still only 14 and should have a private life, but anyways people were saying how this was some kind of proof that MJ was alive (which ofc I dont believe) because they talk to a person called Michael who has a voice similar to MJ... It starts at 8:30 , what do you guys think ? lol...

You're mom just sounds like a very cool person! Idk, maybe it might have been that certain lighting that really brought out the unevenness of the skin tone in that picture. I doubt the makeup was that noticeable all the time for people around him to notice. But even if they noticed something knowing how shy and sensitive MJ was I bet they just didn't want to bring it up. Maybe that's one of the reasons why Michael didn't want to get too close to anyone because once you do they'll start asking questions and just want to get to know you better and I feel like he never really wanted that..

Thanks at least for that! "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Nothing was wrong with MJs skin back then. This is clearly in the Off the Wall era. Michael stated his skin started changing in 1983-84 which is the later , "Thriller" era. Once Michael came of age, he started wearing a lot of makeup and doing a lot of cosmetic surgery, way before his skin started changing. To All the Haters on the Internet

But Michael started to wear make-up maybe around Thriller era, but rather after We are the World during Bad. I don't remember him wearing make-up during any of the OTW or Thriller videos for example. Huh? Look at the picture we are referring to. That is clearly Off the Wall era. He is wearing make up. So too is Rick James, by the way. And believe me, I was a kid during the Thriller period. MJ was wearing make-up, including in the Videos. Everybody wears makeup for films/videos or do you think MJ just grew a lot of facial hair for the "Thriller" video (Smile, I am being facetious, no need to respond to that last comment.) Well, yeah of course, but not make-up like he did for Bad. Like really strong make-up. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. Well MJ said it first started during the OTW ~ Thriller era in an interview (Oprah). We don't know when exactly he discovered the first white patch on his skin or where on his body, or when he was officially diagnosed with vitiligo, etc. You're right everyone wears makeup but I'm interested in finding out when approximately his skin disorder started to become noticeable to the point he had to use makeup to cover it and just thought that lousy blending of makeup really stood out in that picture. You don't think he started having vitiligo around 83 just because his skin color started becoming lighter during that time right? [Edited 3/14/13 14:26pm]

MJ was wearing makeup LONG before Off The Wall. Think about the man's line of work folks lol. Now as far as concealing his vitiligo & lupus blotches, that started around the late 70s ('77-'78).

No..that is far too early. By your timeline that would mean that MJ had bloches during the Truimph tour (1981) and that is simply not the case. I can sincerly say that all those pics we have seen on the Internet showing blotches during that period and earlier are fake. There were no blotches in the magazines or pics of that era, and there were many, many pictures, several not retouched at all. Several with MJ without his shirt on. I went back and looked at the video of MJ with Oprah, MJ first says after Thriller, then he says "Thriller, Off the Wall." Which is a much longer period (79-84) could be anywhere in there. The fact is the first time I can remember noticing that his skin was changing was in 1986 when he, along with Lionel Richie and the other stars were at the Grammies to pick up awards for "We are the World". I remember one girl at school saying "He is looking bleached-out, what is happening to his skin?" She was sincerely concerned. Anyway I am not going to talk anymore about MJs skin color, unless someone directly asks me to. It is too polarising an issue among fans. I would much rather focus on his music, dance and style. The things which made me a fan in the first place. To me the saddest consequence of MJs changing appearance was that eventually people stoped remembering what had made him so popular in the first place...his brilliant and singular talent.

Being that we are talking about MJ, many of the billions of photos taken of him are doctored. Yes, i agree with that. BUT, there are quite a few that aren't. MJ did have a circular blotch around his right eye that went back as far as 1977. In many photos post-1977, that blotch can still be seen with concealer. It is most prominent in some photos during the making of the "Thriller" short where MJ is having his "zombie" latex makeup removed from his face. By 1986, he was wearing "stage" makeup, so the change in his skin tone was obvious to pretty much everyone. As far as blotches on the rest of his body during the early years, I can't and won't speculate.

I have a hardcover picture book of the Victory tour and in one shot, he has a white blotch on his wrist, the one where he's holding his microphone. And this was years before I read anything online about him wearing the glove to hide patches, so please don't even think about throwing that shit in my face

Michael Jackson’s family are seeking £26billion in compensation from tour promoters AEG Live after the death of the singer. The Jackson’s are demanding the record settlement in a ‘wrongful death’ lawsuit. According to reports the star’s children Prince, 16, Paris, 14, and 10-year-old Blanket, along with his 82-year-old mother Katherine, believe Jackson was left sleepless because of pressure he faced from the entertainment giants ahead of the start of his This Is It comeback tour. In the end the 50-year-old overdosed on surgical anaesthetic two weeks before the show. TMZ also claim the family believe the hiring of Jackson’s jailed doctor Conrad Murray and the failure to supervise the treatment was negligent. Prince Michael is expected to testify at the Los Angeles trial concerning a conversation he allegedly had with his father about the concert promoter. Michael’s mum Katherine and his children are claiming £6.6billion to make up for his lost future earnings and a further £19.8billion in other damages. The court case with AEG, organisers behind the comeback concerts at London’s O2 arena, begins next month. Website TMZ claims AEG have hit back, calling the £26billion compensation amount ‘preposterous.’ Jackson’s kids (L-R Blanket, Prince, Paris) believe AEG failed to supervise Conrad Murray (Picture: File) They allegedly believe the Billie Jean singer’s career was on a downward spiral after he was accused, but cleared, of molesting a boy. Earlier this month a judge ruled there was sufficient evidence to warrant a jury trial. Jackson’s lawyer Kevin Boyle said after the ruling: ‘The truth about what happened to Michael, which AEG has tried to keep hidden from the public since the day Michael died, is finally emerging. ‘We look forward to the trial where the rest of the story will come to light.’ Jackson died aged 50, at his house in Los Angeles just weeks before the concerts were due to start. It’s since been ruled he was given a fatal dose of anaesthetic Propofol by his personal doctor, Conrad Murray who was jailed for four years last year for involuntary manslaughter. The use of Propofol is restricted to hospital operating theatres but Murray agreed to inject the star so he could sleep. At the time, he was said to be exhausted while rehearsing for the 50 concerts that were booked in London.

We watched him sweat his make-up off....there were no spots back then. He was cute As f*ck though!!!!! [Edited 3/18/13 7:51am] **************************************************

I wondered too if it was lighting or a patch when I first saw it, but I sure did a double take cause it was not something I'd seen online for once. I know with vitiligo, they usually start from corners or insides and then spread so a random blotch like that would be very rare, but it is pretty light if you ask me. There is lighting on him all over that particular picture, but I don't think those have anything to do with patches but the hand really sticks out
And wonderful book isn't it? I love the Victory tour cause clips of it on tv are my first mj memory. And hell yeah he was cute as fuck, I was going through the book again after so long when finding the picture and ooohing and aaahing [Edited 3/18/13 7:56am]

He did have spots though and his Billie Jean glove during the victory tour is proof of that because why would he put on makeup on his hands? lol... Doesn't make sense unless you are trying to hide something and you don't get acne on your hands as far as I know lol...

What do they say in these moments?
15:26 - "Let's ??? the choreography in the most bizarre places."
18:05 - Right after "gotta cue them" as he stamps his foot?
18:32 - "I am sure we're gonna see things that I should have done in that shot ??? I shouldn't let them go."
Just trying my luck again.
