The Fantastic Mr Gaz Coombes
I went to an outstanding show last night to see Gaz Coombes who was special guest for The Stereophonics. Gaz was the front man of British group Supergrass before they broke up in 2010. This year he has released his debut solo album Here Come The Bombs & I freaking LOVE it! If you've ever liked the sound of Supergrass then defo check out his solo album.
I'm still on a high from how unbelievably good he was last night! He completely blew me away with his performance which touched rock, pop, electro, dance, disco & even a touch of funk! Highlight was when he broke down & extended the last song Break the Silence. Gaz was funkin' it up like mad on his crazy electro box of tricks/come funk box & the mega drummer (Laurence Colbert from Ride) performed an incredible drum solo that broke in2 a latin beat & had me doing a little salsa whilst squashed in the front row! All coming together with such sexy rock & roll that shook me to the core! What a climax!
Here's a little taste of Mr Gaz Coombes. I'm sure you'll like as much as I do ...

I loved Supergrass but I still haven't heard the Hotrats album. I didn't even know that he had a solo album out. | |

Sorry, don't mean to bump... but this is great news!
Gaz Coombes makes it to number 1 for best album of 2012 at Stereoboard.com for his debut Here Come the Bombs, ahead of Norah Jones, Paul Wellar, Muse, Mumford & Sons, & Deftones.
'There have been some true revolutions in music the past year. Despite the decline in sales of the guitar band, bands across the globe are still penning some truly remarkable music using a cacophony of different styles, techniques and influences to evolve and refine their sound. Some of the acts featured here have been around for a small eternity, but still managed to release a record in the last twelve months that could, quite possibly, change your life. Some of them have hit the charts running. Some of them you may never have heard of. But I promise you, if you have interest in music, real music, you should go out and obtain a copy of all of these because not doing so means you miss out.'
