Michael wasn't influenced by Jackie Wilson.he was influenced by large group of artists like Diana Ross,Marvin Gaye,Sly Stone ,even Prince.i have a strong feeling that ever since Michael spoted Prince he was always checking what Prince was doing,he looked at Prince as a rival but at the same time he admired Prince and was a Prince fan.But i can't say that a man who mimmed his live act a large part of his career is the greatest front man.at least ten people deserve to be on that spot before Michael. Ppl like Robert Plant,Freddie are up for the title but they all are small kids compared to Mick Jagger.Mick is the one who set standard how a frontman should act.he influenced every frontman just like Hendrix indluenced every electric gfuitar player

Freddie INSPIrEd mike tremendously. You can see a cLEAR difference in mikes performance style between the DESTINY tour and the TRIUmPH tour in 1979-1981 when mike started hanging with queen. A lot of the posing and fist in the air mike got from Freddie. I'm not even a queen fan but I know that. Surprised that wasn't brought up

Like others already pointed out, I also can't agree with Freddie being a tremendous inspiration of Michael's. MJ hung out with the Stones, Aerosmith too during that era too and they were also famous for those signature rock musician attitude / poses you're talking about. So I think it's more accurate to say MJ incorporated certain things from rock musicians into his performance (still, very minor influence compared to Fred Astaire, James Brown), not solely from Freddie.

Sorry but this is not true.

Michael said Jackie was one of his influenes out his mouth numerous of times, it was even depicted in the The Jacksons and American Dream lol lol and he even honored one of his grammy wins to Jackie Wilson in 1984 that year he won 8 grammys and insisted that was one of his influences

Ive never heard him site Prince as an influence although he admired him

Michael mimed pretty much nothing til the BAD tour. You heard the J5 'live at the forum' album? He had it even then, a fucking kid. Owning. Never mind growing up, through to the Triumph and Victory tours. To disregard him like you have is just plain wrong.

He was an outstanding performer.

I saw Queen on their Hot Space tour in '82, Freddie was on par with Michael, no doubt. In terms of controlling an audience, these two had the greatest stage presence beyond anyone else. It wasn't possible to get bored watching them.

.

Haha Elmer you're so funny.Queen were the band with biggest balls in popular music.they had the balls to go where no other band could or would.they also were big music innovators.Queen invented Speed metal (Stone Cold Crazy) trash metal (Ogre Battle) opera rock and along the way they had excursion in every popular genre of the music with success. Every band member wrote big hits for the band.amazing band and i can go on but i advice you to stop talking shit and try to see and hear what Queen are before you talk shit Elmer

Freddie was one of the greatest singers for sure. Is he well known in America as he is around the world? I'm not sure if Queen's among the best selling bands in America, nor if their classic albums went at least platinum in the US. If so, very unfair.

That's just inaccurate. Michael was definitely influenced by Jackie Wilson. I know there's not many videos showing Jackie doing his thing but if you compare, Michael is more close to Jackie than Prince, Jagger and Mercury.

Really Elmer? Man, have you never heard the first three albums? And then on to the next few. Night at the Opera, Day at the Races, News of the World. Incredible musicianship and such wide versatility. If only other bands had members so competent.

And the guitar on Sheer Heart Attack (the song not the album). Yeah, very hummable.

It depends on how big that influence was... it's there but it's not that massive imho. And I saw your post after I posted what I posted so my apologies on that.
