Exactly. And anyone claiming that this or the other is the best or greatest is just plain ridiculous. To claim "one of the greatest"... fair enough, but to claim one as the greatest is just childish bs.
It's not ridiculus and its not childish.
Your obvious offence at something so trivial is childish. |

Freddie INSPIrEd mike tremendously. You can see a cLEAR difference in mikes performance style between the DESTINY tour and the TRIUmPH tour in 1979-1981 when mike started hanging with queen. A lot of the posing and fist in the air mike got from Freddie.
I'm not even a queen fan but I know that. Surprised that wasn't brought up |

Thank you. I wanted to write that I think Freddie one of Michael's biggest influences when it comes to live shows, but I changed my mind. Michael attended many shows Queen in the late 70's - early 80's ... + Freddie was quite androgynous in the 70s ... I think this is also have some impact on MJ |

You probably are right but to say that Freddie had a MAJOR influence on his stage performance is a big exaggeration. Most of Michaels influence in that area came from James Brown, Jackie Wilson.
And Michael was doing the hand movement and expressions when he was 10/12 is a possibility Freddie did influence him but to make it so cut in dry that Michael copied Freddie is straight BULLSHIT ... sorry |

Also some of the hand movements Mike did he got that from James... especially when James stopped his band or had his band hit on his mark. Compare Get on the Good Foot to live performances of, say, Beat It for instance. I think Freddie (and Robert Plant) inspired the "rock god" movements he would do at the end of his performances though. |

And I never denied your claim but you implied that Freddie was his number one inspiration and that isnt true. Michael did alot of hand gestures, facial expressions, etc when he was little and even Jackie Wilson did alot of flamoyant things like singing while laying on the stage, etc you make it seem like Freddie was the ONLY one that did that when there were performers before him that did the same thing |

You know good and dag on well if nobody knew who Jackie Wilson or James Brown was and that same person read your post they would think Freddie Mercy invented the sun and the moon and was everything to MJ as far as inspiration based on your first post. |

Offended? Why should I be offended? I'm a big Freddie Mercury fan as well, so that accusation is ridiculous as well... just like this whole discussion. There is no set criteria for excellence. There is no set criteria for something like being the greatest showman, as Timmy already said, it's only opinion and personal preference. It's the same bs as saying this or that is the greatest song or album or movie. It's all subjective at the end of the day. But what do you know... you revealed yourself to be a child as well recently, so probably childish bs is dead serious to you. |

But Freddie has not influenced Michael ALOT... THATS THE POINT IM TRYING TO MAKE TO YOU and that particular post did come off like Freddie was Michaels main influence and my reading comprehension is just fine. Your post was heavily biased toward Freddie being Michaels main influence.
And if that is not what you meant maybe you should edit your post because saying that Freddie has influenced Michael ALOT is insisting that is his main influence. James Brown influenced Michael ALOT not Freddie. |

That is why I do not understand how someone can say Freddie Mercury or Mick Jagger had a MAJOR influence on MJ.
MJ's MAJOR influences was James Brown and Jackie Wilson but of course he had other influences but I wouldnt necessarily call them major.
I also alot of the things people are claiming Freddie inspired Michael with James Brown and Jackie were already doing. |

Performances MJ-child (teenager) and MJ-adult were quite different types. Yes, Michael, in the early years was much more influenced by Jackie and James.
but I do not care - in performances MJ 80's and 90's I see more Freddie, although at this time MJ was already self-sufficient and created trends.

Because its not there
MJ was doing inspired James Brown like moves in BAD, Dangerous and even History tours that NEVER changed as he grew older as an adult. From the way he handled the microphone and alot of the flamboyant stuff was inspired by Jackie Wilson, who did alot of laying on the floor while singing and jumping up and down [Edited 11/8/12 15:37pm] |
