yes rihanna and Gaga are basically this generations Janet and Madonna, although I think janet still has another chapter left in her musical career to go, a comeback of some sort.

I was been disrespectful just honest. I should probably start a new thread about why certain people always hate 'the new beyonce is like the eifel tower to some people, they couldn't stand the sight of it at first, called it 'modern trash' couldn't escape seeing it ever where they turned, but with time became an icon

Why aren't you complaining about people trashing hair metal on another thread? I like some hair metal, but if they don't, then they don't. Beyonce isn't the only person that people talk about badly. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well she obviously did it because of the whole convention thing with Eastwood and to make a statement, even though most the population has forgotten the whole thing already. TO ME she is dumb to do this, i mean i dont like Romney or the way that side thinks, but there are alot that i co-exist with that i dont identify with, shit i listen to Prince and i dont believe any of his bible stuff. I mean im sure many of us have that old old person somewhere in our family that is just not "there" in thinking or OLD SCHOOL with their views, but you still visit them and put up the front. Fact is that Beyonce co-exists with ALOT worse people, and quite frankly MANY that are criminals in their own way, Eastwood's politics really were pretty un-known and un-cared about till this. Its not like he is preaching on tv about his views daily. SO she passed up a chance to work with possibly one of the 10 best directors ever, he is gonna KILL with a version of Star Is Born, unlike other LAME remakes he is at least from that era and knows how it should be, and RESPECTS movies to do it right. Bad move Beyonce, but im guessing someone pushed you to make this decision "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

All I stated was my opinion she is only person who could be a modern striesand which is obviously what they want for thisvfilm! a singing star! there is musical soundtrack attached to this movie so clearly the musical element is strong in this version then someone threw a brick upside my head for stating an opinion

What a blast from the past. Definitely the schmalziest of the three, but I love schmaltz. Soul Alive was right though, that the best part of it was when Kris Kristofferson died. That and of course Babs in that nightclub with her group The Oreos That damn Kris Kristofferson is scrumptious in this movie though ...I promise y'all straight no chaser the way he looked and dressed in this movie looked exactly like my first hsuband (the fashion photographer). Now I remember why I really married that fool
The quality of these are crappy but a fun watch if you like behind the scenes docs:

Good point
While I think Beyonce was an awful pick and would not have done the role justice... if she had of done this it would have been more draw/popularity for the movie and obviously for her as well and while she would have been bad in it, it overall would have been a good career move for her..
So that was the real reason why she dropped out of this? Thats such a petty reason.
Beyonce and Jay Z kill me with always trying to do things like this to make themselves more important than what they really are. If that is Clints personal views what does that have to do with him as a director or the whole movie project especially if this has been something they have been planning for what...3 or 4 years now? Beyonce has always striked me as one who only cares about HER image and how something makes HER look. She doesnt really care about friendships, promises, deals etc especially if it means her image will be tarnish likewise she only does and say things that will make her look more favorable.... just phoney to me overall.

actually it shows a great deal of loyalty to her friends, her political beliefs, which indicates an honest artist/person a fake person would 'shut up' and ride this train to the oscars! how bad does she want a Oscar? she turned that opputunity down by going with her 'beliefs that's if what we are speculating is the actual reason

So you have to put somebody else down (Duran Duran, Madonna, Debbie Gibson) to prop Beyonce up? 2 wrongs don't make a right. That's no better than people saying "so and so" is better than somebody else because they sold more, had more hits, can write songs, play more instruments, etc. It's music, there to entertain and make people happy. It's not a popularity contest, or for music snob "real music" thinking. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

What does HIS political views have to do with the movie though? and that doesnt necessarily mean she is a honest person. It appears she is not doing it right now because of the public comments Clint made about his political stance. Doing the movie doesnt mean she is supporting that, its just a movie and he is the director, its a rather judgemental reason to not want to do it anymore.

you see I didn't say Duran Duran and Madonna are bad, I said they are like beyonce which you translated as 'bad because you think beyonce is bad. (I think you all hate her because she isvwhat she is) but if she made her debut in this film, you would all think 'a star is born'
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You sat here and insisted that she was qualified to play in this movie and then insisted that you have never seen her act So how can you say people are hating on her when most of the people here who are making these opinions have exactly seen her act in a movie?
What does Duran Duran and Madonna have to do with the fact that Beyonce cant act?
Do us ALL a favor, STFU | |

The Obamas are her friends, Clint dissed barrack now we are only assuming but if its true that's a very 'non show business thing to do. turns out maybe B's soul ain't for sale!

you need to take seat. this is a singing role! think Whitney in bodyguard!!! Clint wants the star to produce a whole soundtrack you think Clint isn't aware of her acting range?? you really think 'you know better than Clint Eastwid what his movie needs? stfu

I dont agree with that either but if that his personal political views than that is his opinion. Many celebrities have openly spoke out on there political views even Madonna. Its perfectly naturally being there is an election going on. It has nothing to do with saling her soul which Beyonce did along time ago.
Clint was not trying to make anybody believe his views, he just expressed it and I dont see how that has anything to do with the movie.

Requirements for this role is an 'exceptional and talented singing starlet Beyonce would come to mind for alot of non bitter jealous people Esparanza or Janelle Monae would be perfect to 'debut to the masses via this movie and soundttack
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Clint Eastwood is trying to find celebs for roles in the movie that is going to be a big draw to get people to watch the movie. I highly doubt he had her in mind because she is a Oscar worthy actress He knows she is a popular star that will bring in ratings but that doesnt reflect her acting skills and talent.
And you really need to sit down with your immature dumb none making sense posts especially when you have insisted you have never seen her act but want to foolishly insist she is qualified to play in this movie.... do you know how ridiculous and childish you sound?

I didn't say anything about Beyonce at all, pro or con. If you look at my comments I mentioned Nirvana, Sondra Locke, A Christmas Carol, and Jesus Christ. All I said was not all younger people have heard of Beyonce & Michael Jackson. I have 3 Destiny Child albums, a few of their maxi singles, and one of Beyonce's solo albums. I also have some solo albums by LeToya Luckett & Michelle Williams. I don't put people down, that's not my thing. I like the Monkees, which many people don't take seriously at all. You're just reading things that are not there, because you think there is some big conspiracy against Beyonce. I mentioned that people here said bad things about Madonna and hair metal, but you said nothing about that. Vainandy makes fun of Whitney Houston and most rap music made after the Kurtis Blow/Sugarhill Gang era all the time. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
