Well that's what money and a powerful father gets you. thumbs up! I can think of many young, modern singers who kill her in the voice department hands down, but they don't have the backing she did and does. The fact that she is an icon now just shows me how low the public's tastes have fallen. Anyway, I liked Bouncy when she was with Destiny's Child. But after the way she treated her 'friends' and the way she discarded those whose voices were better until it was just Beyonce and no one else...I actually 'heard' her and wasn't impressed.

She is a so so singer and a horrible actress. Nowhere near the caliber of Streisand or Garland. She copies others' styles and videos. She is not original. But who cares? lol

Fact is that Beyonce co-exists with ALOT worse people, and quite frankly MANY that are criminals in their own way, Eastwood's politics really were pretty un-known and un-cared about till this. Its not like he is preaching on tv about his views daily. SO she passed up a chance to work with possibly one of the 10 best directors ever, he is gonna KILL with a version of Star Is Born, unlike other LAME remakes he is at least from that era and knows how it should be, and RESPECTS movies to do it right. Bad move Beyonce, but im guessing someone pushed you to make this decision

Good point

While I think Beyonce was an awful pick and would not have done the role justice... if she had of done this it would have been more draw/popularity for the movie and obviously for her as well and while she would have been bad in it, it overall would have been a good career move for her..

So that was the real reason why she dropped out of this? Thats such a petty reason.

Beyonce and Jay Z kill me with always trying to do things like this to make themselves more important than what they really are. If that is Clints personal views what does that have to do with him as a director or the whole movie project especially if this has been something they have been planning for what...3 or 4 years now? Beyonce has always striked me as one who only cares about HER image and how something makes HER look. She doesnt really care about friendships, promises, deals etc especially if it means her image will be tarnish likewise she only does and say things that will make her look more favorable.... just phoney to me overall.

Agreed...

icon

noun

  1. A person or thing that is the best example of a certain profession or some doing.

Jennifer Hudson can blow Bey away. Therefore, Bey is not an icon.

Yeah 4 or 5 times... it's ridiculous at this point. No one can compete with the Judy version, which wasn't even the original anyway.

I saw some out takes from the Judy version during the scene where she was dressed for a performance, talking about her husband's downward spiral- it was so intense eek , and then the director yells "take!", & she just jumped up and went merrily along like she didn't just drag us into that emotional tornado with her: that level of acting chops damn near scared the shit out of me---I didn't know whether to be astonished at what she could pull out of herself then turn off, or be mad because as soon as it was a "take", she just snapped out of the zone like she was changing the color of her socks and left it right there where she had been sitting, and meanwhile I'm still stuck looking at the TV not knowing WTF to do with my emotions! mad lol

This is the full version of the scene "How do you count the days?" aka "Love isn't enough"...just imagine her stopping dead center in the middle of this and just ready have a cigarette or something- They coulda passed her some salt& vinegar potato chips and she could start eating them right there like nothing happened 2 minutes before when she was crying lol

[Edited 10/12/12 10:15am]

Wow. Thanks for posting the video Ottensen. That was powerful...and honest. Beyonce's no-acting self could never pull off a scene like this. They really need to do away with plans for remaking this movie anyways.

Her father had personal business connections even before Beyonce got a record deal with DC and he also was on the voting comittee with the grammys. I highly doubt if her father was not a music industry insider she would have gotten that extra push and marketing. Her father had ALOT to do with her success and how she was marketed. Also, her solo albums have not sold a whole lot contary to popular opinion.

There aren't even any rumors that differences in politics are why she dropped out, yet you jump to that conclusion as if you were personally there when discussions went on.

Because Lord knows it's not like she has a busy career or a schedule packed with other plans to contend. rolleyes

What connections? Dude worked for Xerox (or Kinko's, or whatever) when he was starting to manage DC. Yes, he was ruthless and a pusher, but it's his determination combined with smarts that got DC and Beyonce to where they are. Can you prove that he had connections, like Aaliyah's uncle running Blackground Records? Can you also prove that her solo records have actually sold less? And why didn't B'Day sweep up the Grammys when her father was on the committee?

Matthew had alot of music connections in the industry which is how he was able to get that deal with Beyonce and DC and hook them with the best producers. And he did screw over alot of the members. I am not calling him the Master connection expert but that did play a role in there success as well as for Beyonce. And although B-day might not have sweept the grammys she still won grammys for it. The only time she was ever nominated and didnt win anything was last year at the grammys.

Kelly Rowland and other singers were also manage by Matthew and they didnt get the same marketing and special treatment as Beyonce

Of course... but that wasnt my point.

Joe wasnt manipulating the grammys to give Michael more grammys than what he should have been getting either. He EARNED those grammys. Everything with Michael was earned. Matthew specifically invested in Beyonce and didnt invest in the group as a whole. He made it so it was all about her even when DC was popular, she was the certain of attention... although Michael stood out in J5 it was never designed like that. Joe made sure all his sons got a equal opportunity and even included the sisters... MAJOR difference.

Nobody is hating... your the one bringing up irrelevant shit tojustify the original topic which is about Beyonce poor acting abilities and skills. This discussion has nothing to do with that.

2) Everyone is NOT on the grammy voting committee... alot of different areas of the industry is represented but its absurd to imply every single person that works in the music industry is in it.

3) Joe Jackson started out as a up and coming musician doing small venues nothing major and didnt have a record deal that doesnt equate to being in the "mainstream industry" itself because he was a steel factory worker as he found that his children had talent he researched and worked hard to find ways to expose his children like getting them gigs in nighclubs, talent shows etc.... it wasnt like Matthew who already was working in the industry itself.

4) So I guess Erykah Badu, Chrisette Michelle, Jazmine Sulivan, etc dont have alot of grammys because there no talent heffas? rolleyes and they exactly have ALOT more talent than Beyonce has in her pinky finger but I guess since she is not popular that means they all suck...

No!
don't you dare try and act like Joe was less connected than Matthew.

They both were basically 'nobodys' to the industry before they broke thier acts/kids.

Mat sold his family home to launch his daughters

its was talent , good timing , luck and hard work not nepotism that got them where they are

I never denied that he was not her manager and his role in her success. In fact I have been insisting that is why Beyonce is/was successful..while you have been insisting the opposite by making it seem like Beyonce on her own is popular because she is Beyonce...

Your comparisions are a little off.

I would not dare to compare her to someone like MJ or Whitney because Beyonce does not have MJ or Whitney talent. Her talent can be easily duplicated and there are better singers with that being said thanks to her fathers determination and the way he pushed her in how she was marketed helped her become successful.

I'm not even going to go there with you about Whitney because she is irrelevant to this conversation.

Did you not read my earlier post? NOBODY is going to help you out when you try to defend Beyonce on this website. These stan wars are so goddamn annoying. I get it, you like Beyonce. There's NOTING wrong with liking Beyonce. She has a couple songs I like, but I'm by no means a fan of hers.

Just know that EVERY time her name is brought up here 99% of the posts will be negative. NOTHING you say will change that, so stop it okay? If you can't stand the bashing of your favorite artist the org is not for you.

People bashed Whitney up until the day she died (a couple still do), but now it doesn't even bother me. You can't convince people to change their mind, especially through a computer screen.

Goodnight to you sir/madam.
