wow, hadn't thought about it but i think i agree that as albums, RN IS more influential but Control more timeless. Control set her up perfectly for RN, she had the world's attention when it came out. She was arguably at her peak. I didn't know it charted singles in three separate calendar years! I only recently got RN on cd and upon listening, it does sound quintessentially 90s and dated, but yet my memories from this era with the vids, etc. are transcendent. No one can do covered up in black sexier than Janet!

THIS times a million!!! She became so boring once she took off most of her clothes and became all sex-kitten - album after album bored

Black is definitely her signature color. I agree that she does all-black sexier than just about anyone, even when she throws a bit of color into the mix, like in this pic with Gene Kelly and Shirley Temple

I would argue that 'Come back to me', 'lonely', 'Escapade' and 'Love will never do' are timeless

If LWND was released today with the same video - it wouldn't be out of place.
