Janet to relaunch the up close & personal tour? When we interviewed Pop icon Janet Jackson back in May, she alluded to her musical comeback being in the most infantile of stages. However, new Tweets from her longtime choreographer and creative director Gil Duldulao suggest the diva may have been somewhat modest about the status of the project. See what we mean after the jump…
Writing on Twitter today, Duldulao wrote… With “Dunk” of course being the nickname Jackson famously garnered from her famous brother Michael, there’s little doubt as to who Gil was referring to. What does remain a mystery, though, is what exactly Janet is to set to begin rehearsals for. A re-boot of her Number Ones tour? A new music video? Something entirely different? Who knows. Although, we’re uber rooting for it to center on a new music project.

So I guess he's still "in". I think she could really use some new blood in her camp. She's obviously comfortable with Gil but maybe that's a problem. Sometimes we need people that can stretch us and challenge us to grow.
I wish her well though. | |

Several websites are going nuts over those recent Gil/Janet tweets. Something is brewing...not sure what though... "Get up off that grey line"

I agree.... I really wish she fire him and had fired him. To me, he seems to be holding Janet back and none of his dances are really eye popping or creative. Very bland.
I havent been impressed with none of his choreographies except Rock Wit U video and that was only the floor stuff.
My dream is that she returns to Tina but of course that is never going to happen.

Up close & personal enough to snatch a phone out of your hand and attempt to kidnap you?

something is definitely up. this is especially true after the "let's do this" tweet she sent out yesterday. she needs to put out something new before anything though.

The tour is relaunching. In March when rumors swirled about her joining the X Factor, she denied and said it wouldn't be possible [to be a judge on the show] due to her previous commitments to finish up her tour this Summer.

That's not entirely true. A4U was a success.

How beautiful does Janet look in that photo?

i guessi f u knew your janet history u would know shawnetta herd was the main cheographer during that period not gil he was aprt of the team but shawneetta was running shit then

Additionally, Gil was associate choreographer along with the head choreographer - Shawnette.

it still wasnt all that after tina left tina brought janet class and style and exposed her 2 so many more elements now since gil been at the helm everything is dark gothic drag queen

Yeah. I agree.
I still enjoyed A4U choregraphy, and obviously the choreography before Tina was promoted (Control & RN). Tina was the best though. [Edited 8/10/12 10:53am]

I'm also tired of Gil's drag choreography. Janet should get Paula back. I'd even settle for Miss Boom Kat LaurieAnn [Edited 8/10/12 11:19am]

I completely disagree.

Paula was a beast. Janet fans dont like to give her her credit but she was behind alot of the iconic choregraphy Janet did.

Paula gave Janet some fresh and sharp moves. Gil is so tired. Watching him dance with Janet now, he seems so out of breath and Janet seems to keep him around just to be a good friend

But Gil should definitely go. [Edited 8/10/12 11:38am]

Paula Abdul is a trained dancer, (tap, ballet, jazz etc) Im sure if Janet was interested Paula would be more than happy to help her with her choregraphy. Janet has peaked as far as her dancing skills are concerned. So whether she keeps gil or not its not going to make that much of a difference. She should focus on artistically improving her music.

I agree.
But all of Janet's choreography has been far above the standard of every other music artist. I can think of no other artist that has matched the consistancy and innovation of her dance routines (apart from Michael obviously).

I would just love for her to get locked in a studio with Jam & Lewis and not come out until the funk stanks up the room so bad that they all gotta come running out that mafucka! Hey, a man can still dream can't he?
Na, on a serious note. Although I'd love to see her reconnect with them for some funky dance shit, I also wouldn't mind her hooking up with someone new on the production end. Someone with a fresh sound that hasn't been raped to death yet on the radio.
Likewise, she could use to have some lucky newcomer in the dance world (or not) to be her new choreographer.
Hey maybe Tina could recommend someone!

Make Me and Rock Wit U werent that good and the ONLY thing I liked about Rock Wit U was the floor work...... thats it.
The last impressive choregraphies were with Tina.
As far as Im concerned she should never stop dancing unless health prevents her but based on what I saw on that last tour she didnt seem to have the energy to do the dance routines full out.. not to mention she hardly even danced and she mimed the concerts..... that isnt good. If your going to mime at least be doing the dance routines full out.

I disagree. She has continued to be better than her contemporaries throughout her career which is itself impressive.
But yeah. Her last tour was pretty appalling, even for her age. But none of us are shy to artists miming and cutting back on their dancing once they are past their peak (Michael, Britney etc), especially now that even the young ones are doing so aswell. [Edited 8/10/12 12:05pm]

You love to bring up Michael as to justify Janet and I was waiting for you to since you have a deep seeded problem with him.
Michael did his choregraphies FULL OUT on all the songs that had choregraphies including free styles although he did mime later on.
There was NO EXCUSE for Janet to mime her last tour and not dance like she did. The miming would not have been bad if she was at least dancing and not standing in the middle of the stage jumping up and down.

There is never any execuse for any artist to mime, even if they are older or addicted to drugs or whatever the case.
If you really want to discuss HIStory (or even Dangerous), we can, but I was just using him as an example. I can't think of any other artist that fits the example apart from MJ, Janet & Britney (Although the latter took it to a whole other level) - can you? [Edited 8/10/12 12:23pm]
