Sly- Stand

If no one else is going to say it I will. "Sex Machine," all thirteen minutes and forty-eight seconds of it, is the definition of filler. Is anyone honestly going to claim that it is a classic?

It's my favorite song on the album. And I forgot all about that album, but I'll add it to my list.

I've never heard a Sly Stone album. I mostly only know the hits.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

OK, I'll try again. How do you feel about "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey?" That's a pretty boring and monotonous song. For me those are two reasons why Stand is far from a perfect album.

I forgot about that one. Yeah, I don't love that song. I can see how someone wouldn't like "Sex Machine", too, but I like lengthy instrumentals (N.E.W.S. might be my favorite Prince album), so that's why I like that song.

I have the song on a tape, but not his album. Are you talking about the Brave New Hope remix album above? I have that one.

I don't know if you've seen this video from 1974, but I posted it in the early footage thread: prince.org/msg/8/381530

At least one person mentioned There's a Riot Goin' On. I think I have found a "weak" song on that album too. The title track is terrible! razz

Nice video. Yeah Brand New Hope remixs. There are 2 different ones each one has bonus songs and different remixes. One has 7 songs and the other has 9 songs. Baby You're Mine EP(with a nice see through cover) also has some remixes.

I think "Rumours" is the ONLY cd I've ever heard with no bad songs on it. I remember the first time I played it all the way through I was confused because I was expecting to have to skip something and that never happened...

There are really not that many for me, I always tend to find a couple of songs that I don't enjoy as much. Especially on those 50+ minutes albums in the post-80s era when everyone jumped on the bandwagon to fill a whole CD.

I can only think of:
