I haven't actually heard CO yet, but I kind of agree with most of this even based on Ultra Nostalgia. It's because I love the concept so much that I'm going to expect the music to keep up
It's a little gloomy, a little samey-samey and a little bit pretentious radiohead (as someone mentioned). Swim Good still haunts my world, because the gloom feels real, and Novocane is just freaky fun (and still a little bit sad) but that Colplay cover? Pass. Pryamids didn't really grab me on first listen. Definitely will pick this album up though, and give it an open listen.

I really like this album.
But I can see why some people might not be sold yet. His live performances seem good though, and remember this is only his second album and proper first album. When I think of old school artist development and how A&R used to pick talent they felt would grow I think of Frank Ocean.
I can only imagine what his next album will be like.

People on this site are too quick too judge music. They pop in the CD on the first day and listen to then form an opinion and relegate it to the circular file if it's not engaging them from start to finish. Some music is meant to grow on you. Not every song is going to wow you on the first note. Relax and try to enjoy a CD instead of dissecting it like a lab rat. Artist who make CDs that hold you from beginning to end are rare and not every artist is going to be able to pull that off. In 2 years this CD will be lauded on this site(if Prince hasn't shut it down by then). When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Had a great time at the show. I'm a lil pissed that he changed the opening song from Prince's When You Were Mine to Sade's By Your Side but they were playing Prince prior to start time.. Dude sounds just as good live..

So good that one reviewer quoted audience feedback that they thought he was lip syncing.
