This is the album that confirmed that she was pretty much over music or coming up with creative ideas or themes. The whole thing is a complete retread of the previous two.

And it just got worse from there. Hope she digs herself out of that hole with whatever she does next.

Definitly Janets last successful era. Personally, dont think this follow up tops Velvet Rope but their were a few cuts that SHOULD have been singles. When We OOO is my favorite from the album, Come on Get Up, You Aint Right.... I remember her songs ALWAYS being on the radio.. I was like 8 or 9 lol

She was SO skinny .....

[Edited 4/25/12 12:20pm]

Yeah! that's what i was saying. i was 9 & remember doesn't matter, all for you & someone to call my lover ALL THE DAMN TIME lol

As for son of a gun... yeah i heard it was top 40 hit. But i only heard it a few times on BET lol

She also had that song with beenie man confused wtf happened to him lol i Guess he went with Shaggy and is in hiding.

Feel it boy music that was the cut with Beenie and I dont know what happened to dude, good question lol I vividly remember radio wearing out someone to call my lover...lol

I liked Shaggy.. Janet also did a cut with him.

There were several unreleased songs from this era, some of them produced by The Neptunes:

"Boyz" (reportedly the song that eventually went to Britney Spears)

"Ecstasy"

"Bang Bang"

"New Beginning"

"Who" was a bonus track on the Japanese edition of All For You. It features Janet doing some speed-talking (almost rapping, similar to what she did on "If" and "Trust A Try")

"Get up off that grey line"

Wow it's been 11 years! I remember so much about the era including seeing her during interview promo and going for the tour in summer, and I turned 18. I was finishing up high school, working on university applications, high off invincible era, sad about 9-11 and aaliyah, my parents were going through crap that I tried to block out and I was in my own world feeling so inspired by mj and janet.

I loved the All For You album at first but then got bored with it as more albums came out that year and I found myself listening to her older stuff and other artists older music more. I thought All For You and STCML were good singles choices and was really happy they went to #1 though I also felt she was not giving her all this era though she looked better and happier than ever and the performing at the tour made up for it. I too like many thought the album was disjointed, especially with it being slow in the middle and then fast again, and I thought swearing on the album was so unnecessary sometimes and just ruined the flow of a song like love scene or better days. Was disappointed Trust a Try wasn't a single like she told TRL it would be after A4U, and I know Come On Get Up mixes were released in Japan and pulled, I've heard them on YouTube. STMCL mixes were the BEST of this era, OMG, especially the Hex Hector and Velvet Mix. I blame Mariah for the promotion of this album stopping cause of the big payout, the era would have lasted into summer 2002 for sure with Janet having one or two more big hits. And years later after it's release, I think All For You and Discipline are the better janet albums of this decade, it aged better than the other stuff of that time though she had some elements of it in the music and remixes.

Also though I always knew she was sexual, I thought it was too much in this era with the moaning and some of the footage in All For You on HBO and so unecessary for someone like her who was a veteran by then with so much talent and innovation and for a few years, though I still listened to her and loved her, my level of respect had gone down for a bit and I felt odd about playing her around people, but now I just shrug her sexual tendencies off....I grew up at some point too and she herself is hot and should flaunt it! smile And realize she helped me realize my inner freak.

[Edited 4/25/12 10:20am]

nod "Trust A Try" was hot too. That would've blown up too. Whatever magic she had with Virgin, it was definitely wearing thin by the time they got around to this release.

Such an underrated song. So many sounding like it came out after the era was done, from other artists.

Someone on amazon was mad the album was being sold at Toys R Us and freaked out after giving it to their 8 year old lol I was mad at Janet a little, but now it's funny as hell, soccer mom should have done her homework first before deciding to buy it.

To my ears, "Who" is better than anything else on the album. I still can't believe they couldn't fit it onto the album proper. disbelief

Had she removed those intros, "Who" would've fit right in

Everyone talked about her abs in this era, no denying that, so gorgeous smile

I remember her on the radio often too during this era, with the new songs and older songs, ut it changed since the superbowl though. Now I barely hear her at all. It SUCKS sad

This album is quite underrated. I prefer it to janet. and it holds its own against The Velvet Rope. There are a lot of unheralded gems here.

My least favourite Janet album (apart from DS and maybe JJ).

I just remember forcing myself to like it after waiting so long after TVR - I just wasn't feeling it although I was crazy about When we ooo, the title track and feels so right.

But the tour was great and Janet never looked so good!

Loved When We Ooooh a lot, and Feels So Right was like another That's the Way Love Goes, but held it's own. Should have been a single though I'm so sure some people said it played on urban radio in 2002

I must be the only one who did not care for The Velvet Rope cd, but I appreciate how it touched alot of people. All For You was Janet's last great cd. I played this one alot. I love Someone to Call My Lover. THis song is so perfectly arranged. I also love When We OOO, Trust a Try, China Love, and All for You. I would also love Better Days if her voice wasn't so computerized.

Not the only one. I loved this CD and era soooo much and went nuts for her and was in my freshman year at high school, but most people didn't care for Janet excessively at all, which was a surprise, cause some of them liked her janet. era stuff and cared again for a bit once the era was over, starting with the Busta Rhymes duet and then the All For You singles, kinda.

I think most people go "excessive" over artists in spates of time--more so when they are younger, I think. Then, they move on to something else and come back again to those artists who left an indelible mark on them when they were younger. At least, that applies to myself, if no one else. lol

Behind Velvet Rope and Damita Jo, my favorite Janet album. She really went the opposite direction, All For You is definetly her most happy album. Even though I love the entire album here's some of my faves:

And of Course:

Probably the only song I've ever "had a little fun time" to lol

lol I agree. Virgin dropped the ball by not lengthening the promotion and releasing "Come On Get Up". "You Ain't Right" would have burned up the radio too.

They were spending too much money on Mariah's Glitter bomb to care for any other artist.

They sold this at Toys R Us?! Now, that is hilarious. But, come to think of it, they did sell some questionable shit there when my son was young. lol Not saying Janet's album was that "questioanble" compared to other stuff!

Don't know. They closed down the physical Toys T Us stores here years ago. But, yeah, back years ago, they had "cautioned" video games, some of which I bought for my son, including Mortal Combat and Grand Theft Auto I, II, III... razz lol

For like the first month or so it didn't have a sticker. I have no idea why though. Then again Velvet Rope made it under the radar, probably because of the context of the cursing.

The release with the sticker came out around the time Son of a Gun did, took off Would You Mind, censored curse words, and added a remix or two of Son of a Gun. Also, the deluxe edition of All For You with the DVD of janet. through all for you era videos was released and included the SOAG mixes. Though I liked Son of a Gun and I think the video aged well, I didn't like it as a choice at all at the time and wanted Trust a Try.

And that Janet commercial played before the show from what I remember, her hair and lips were so gorgeous!!!! I wish it aired on TV regularly.
