And who the hell are they?

Probably a bunch of young teenagers and college students whose idea of old musicians are people like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and the late Whitney Houston. Heck, even Mariah Carey is an old timer to them. You have to remember that much of the Twitterverse was born after 1990, so to them listening to Paul McCartney was like us listening to Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller, and Count Basie at that same age.

I knew who they were too, but c'mon, were you really spending your teen years listening to Prince, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Run DMC, etc., on your tape player and then think, "Hey, maybe I'll listen to some Satchmo or Duke Ellington right now?" I know I didn't.

^Well I was in band in high school so yes I can say I was listening to big band, swing, jazz, rock, etc. during my teenage years. Hell even now I could probably tell you wants going on in rap and electronia two fields of music that i have not one disc of. It doesn't take alot of time to do a basic primer on music. The Beatles are still big maybe not as big, but only fools wouldnt know this. I just cant give em slack on this.

As a teenager in the 70's and 80's I listened to radio but also my mother's album collection. Made me a Jackie Wilson fan in junior high. To me it was all music. I was just hunting for the good stuff.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Well, she did get up and started leaving the auditorium as Adele was accepting the award for Album of the Year, which was the last award of the night, so she was probably trying to beat the rush out the door to whatever afterparties were taking place after the show. The Grammys are known for having a number of huge afterparties, so she was probably on her way to one.

lol Its not like she had to go out into the parking lot and find her car and beat traffic!!!!!! lol

Not only is this just unbelievably sad to me, it goes as a testament as to why sucky music is awarded today. Kids have no idea what good music sounds like. Hell my kids are 22 and 23 and know Paul, George, Ringo and John, know the Beetles, know all types of music from all genres and eras. smh

I grew up listening to music. My mother had 78s and I begged her to play them (love Jim Danny to the Rescue).

Music was and is a intregal part of my life and I listen to it all from Billie and Mahalia to Areosmith, 3 dog night to Run DMC and Whodini growing up.

Experts say Nicki Minaj could lose fans from Grammy performance; singer couldn't care less

Nicki Min... s

http://www.foxnews.com/en...r-couldnt/

Published February 14, 2012

| FoxNews.com

has a message for critics of her controversial, Catholicism-inspired Grammy performance on Sunday night: “Stay offended. Not a single F**K is given,” she said via Twitter on Monday, in the aftermath of her widely-panned song-and-dance routine.

Alrighty then!

In an attempt to be “edgy,” Minaj performed “Roman Holiday,” a track from her forthcoming album, complete with a self-exorcism, burning flames and gibberish. However, some experts are now predicting that the overall negative reaction to her moment in the spotlight could seriously hurt album sales.

"Nicki Minaj was clearly aiming for shock value and mass PR, and she succeeded. With big ideas and shock value comes big opportunity, but also backlash," Ronn Torossian, CEO of 5WPR told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. "She has to be aware of possible alienation from some of current fans, who take religion and spiritually seriously."

Last month, Minaj announced via Twitter that her sophomore album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” would not be coming out April 3, although it was initially slated for a Valentine’s Day release. In another blow to Minaj, last week BET banned her music video for another track on the album entitled “Stupid Hoe,” with the unofficial reason being it wasn’t a good fit for television.

Minaj’s religious-mocking Grammy performance not only annoyed critics, audience members and an abundance of Twitter followers, it understandably rubbed some Catholics the wrong way.

“There are Catholic priests who are trained to perform exorcisms, and it seems plain that the time has come for NickiMinaj to make an appointment,” President of the Catholic League of America, Bill Donohue, told us. “Even worse than Minaj is The Recording Academy that runs the Grammys: they knew exactly what she was going to do and gave her the green light. I've never heard of a collective exorcism, but there is a first time for everything.”

Dan Gainor, VP of Business & Culture at the Media Research Center, also took aim at the rap star and Grammy officials.

"Bashing Catholics is 'in,' and Nicki Minaj and the Grammy’s pulled out all the stops – making fun of the Sacrament of confession, mocking exorcism and using the Catholic Church as background for a bizarre musical number,” he said. “The performance highlighted a man dressed as a priest and even included a snippet of Minaj singing “O Come All Ye Faithful,” mixed in with heavy doses of sex.”

The Recording Academy, CBS and a rep for Minaj did not respond to a request for comment

nod My son is 20 and he's been playing the Beatles' music since he was 14. He loves all their stuff. His best friend since 3rd grade loves them too. For his birthday all he wanted was a Pink Floyd t-shirt and their music. Maybe it's because I made sure he DIDN'T always listen to garbage.

I don't care about the religious backlash. I don't care about the supposed blasphemous aspect of her performance. It's more blasphemous to me that so many Catholic priests molest little boys. Her "performance" rolleyes was just garbage pure and simple. shrug She'll 'give a fuck' when she can't afford more plastic surgery. confused

My kids have listened to "garbage" but they were also surrounded by good music and know the difference. They will be the first to day no one sings anymore. They listened to classical, all the way to rap. They know all genres and artists. They will point out sampling and remakes quicker than quick.

It is sad to sit here an know there are a bunch of youngins that have no idea who Sir Paul McCartney is. Just plain sad.
