eek Do my eyes deceive me? You mean to tell me Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry didn't win a Grammy last night? Is this the first time Beyonce was nominated and didn't win a Grammy? Just curious.

Overall the show was OK.

I'm probably one of the few people who isn't overly impressed with Adele. But she did her thang last night.

The highlights of the evening for me were Jennifer Hudson and Glen Campbell! I thought he did a great job all things considered. And Jennifer was wonderful. I don't think anyone else could have done a better tribute..

Finally, I, too, think Paul McCartney is way overrated, and for so is Bruce Springstein for that matter! LOL!

I wonder why Prince never performs with any of those guys.. or has he? I think he would have been a great addition to the show..

No you aint the only one thinking that Adele was overrated. It's just overplayed and popular, that's why she's being called the greatest voice and all that. She did ok, but like always it's the same performance and same song. No different from the Brit Awards, The VMA's, concerts and stuff.

The Civil Wars were good too, sadly it was very short. Jennifer Hudson did Whitney justice with the short time that she had to rehearse. Overall it was an OK show.

First off, I didnt get to watch the whole thing cause I was in remodel mode around my house but did catch most of it.

For me it was a pretty darn good Grammys compared to the past few snooze fest years.

Highlights...

Glen Campbell rocked!!!! Good to see him still doing his thing after all these years.

Beach Boys reunion was pretty cool. It was just nice to see all (or almost all) the original guys up there together.

Adele - you go girl!!! So deserving and such a true talent. Anyone who doesnt get her needs to listen again. Loved her "I got snot coming out me nose" part during album of the year acceptance speech. Hilarious!!!

Jennifer covering Whitney - wow that was very emotional and I really enjoyed how they showed all those lost this past year at the end of the song. And did Don really get left out??? I saw LL talking about him after they cam back from commercial. I thought they were going to do a SoulTrain dance off which would have been super cool.

Foo Fighters!!!! Two performances sweetness!!! I really enjoyed the outdoor stage and Deadmau5 with the Foos was just awesome!!!!

Katy Perry - anyone notice how she pulled a Prince Grammy prank? Thinking that was her (I had my suspisions since they never turned the spotlight on her) and then her being in the box singing her new single of course from the upcoming re-release. I knew this song is a hit and she most likely will top MJ since it plays right into her divorce. Brilliant or pathetic I love me some bounce-bounce Katy! wink

Oh and did anyone notice the burning ice men on her set - they looked an awful like MJ History album cover...that would be tacky even if he was alive but I couldnt help notice the similiarities.

Taylor Swift - yeah I know most people dont like her but I do. She is genuine. I really enjoyed Civil War who opened for her and her song is cheesy but thats whats she's all about. And her surprised and gushing reaction to the standing ovation for her at the end was super cool!!!

I also really liked how once most of the perfomances were over the cameras showed the artist and crowds reaction for at least a good 30 seconds before going to commercial - good move Grammys.

Lowlights...

Gaga - what a complete wierdo and just so stupid! All these gifs of her popping her head into the camera frame and looking like a corpse are both hilarous and scary. And if she left during Adele that is just disrespectful. Now Prince doing that to U2 back in the day was very deserving but Gaga - pleasssse

Minaj - one of the worst over the top performance I have ever witnessed on the Grammys. It just dragged on and on and was just so...awful!!!

Mcartney with all the guitarists....lame. Bruce Springsteen sounded out of tune and the only guy up there that sounded good was Dave Grohl. It was a super band jam fest that just didnt ever really go anywhere.

Overall 7.5 outta 10

[Edited 2/13/12 8:33am]

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U

Completely agree.

Last week, the greatest voice was Katy Perry. The week before that, it was Lady Gaga. Now, randomly it's this one. Tomorrow it'll be somebody else.

No. She has been nominated for several (solo and with DC) that she lost out.

nod

Just a year or so ago, she was bragging as to how good "Born This Way" was but Adele came out and her album (and pretty much all others) were pushed to the side. She needs to just take it as a lesson learned and put the most she can in2 her next project.

Most of the performances were pathetic, and for them to come a day after Whitney's death.... Nicki was a complete disgrace, it disgusts me how little black girls run around mimicking this two-dollar hoe. But I guess anything for attention right? It's not funny anymore. She is an embarassment.

Carrie Underwood skipped the Pre-Grammy Party because she said she didn't find it appropriate. This ladies and gentlemen is how you act with class and is one of the reasons why I like her as a person in addition to her music.

lol Not surprised she left after that. She REALLY thought she would win it this time.

Thanks for your reply....I was aware that she's lost some before but I was more asking about walking away without winning none at all (a complete shut out) after being nominated.....

If she's been nominated before and not won any, I stand corrected then. I guess I would have to be mistaken assuming that the Grammys always nominates her if she has a project out and that she never walks away without winning something....

eek I certainly would not compare Adele's 'voice' to those two flavors of the month. Neither one of them are 'singers' IMO. Adele might not be Jennifer Hudson but she can sing! And she doesn't have to dress like RoboCop or create a Barnum & Bailey circus act to draw attention away from her "talent." Just my twocents

None of their voices are comparable or similar to me either. I was just referring to the inordinate amount of hype that has surrounded all three of them suddenly in recent years, mainly because of how supposedly "soulful" and "powerful" they all sing.

I think they intentionally left Don out because he was not known for music. They should have included him in the montage and listed him as TV Host/Founder of Soul Train, Songwriter, Co-Founder of SOLAR Records, and Producer. He did co-write hits for a few of the SOLAR Records and O'Bryan.

To be honest, her career was starting to be in trouble last year. She really don't know how to perform, she ain't got real rapping skills and Lil Wayne don't even like her output (and Lil Wayne is usually not good on judgment but that speaks volumes lol ). Plus people ain't forgot about her crazy ass on Good Morning America last, I think it was, September. lol

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Sunday's Grammy Awards telecast made sweet music in the ratings, delivering for CBS its largest audience since 1984 and beating last year's viewership by 50 percent.

More than 39.9 million viewers flocked to the broadcast, making it the second most-watched Grammys in history, according to preliminary Nielsen Co. figures released Monday. That exceeds last year's Oscars broadcast, which was seen by 37.6 million viewers.

Helping stoke interest in this year's Grammys broadcast was recording sensation Adele, who emerged as the night's big winner with six trophies. Her album, "21," was by far the year's best seller and one of its most critically acclaimed.

But the broadcast was an attention-getter not only for the awards dispensed but also for its role as a memorial to Whitney Houston, a six-time past winner. The superstar singer died unexpectedly Saturday, just hours before she was supposed to appear at a pre-Grammy gala.

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS, as expected, scored a massive 39 million viewers and a 14.1 among adults 18-49 from 8-11:30 p.m. Comparably, The Grammys built from the year-ago evening (Viewers: 26.67 million, A18-49: 10.0/27 on 2/13/11) by a whopping 12.33 million viewers and 41 percent in the demo. And this should be more than enough to beat upcoming The 84th Annual Academy Awards on February 26.

Historically, this was the second most-watched Grammys telecast of all time (behind 43.8 million viewers in 1984). Results demographically were its best among adults 18-49 since 1990, its best in adults 25-54 (16.0) since 1988, and highest in adults 18-34 (12.1) since 2001.

Here is the half-hour breakdown for the primetime portion (excluding the 11 p.m. half-hour):

The 54th Annual Grammy Awards (CBS)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 40.14 million, A18-49: 13.3/31
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 41.22 million, A18-49: 14.2/31
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 42.20 million, A18-49: 14.7/31
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 43.07 million, A18-49: 15.1/32
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 41.03 million, A18-49: 14.7/32
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 39.31 million, A18-49: 14.5/34

Comparably, dominant CBS more than doubled the three competing networks combined last night.
