MJ fans, I need your help...

I am writing a piece regarding the reaction Michael gave to only being nominated for Best R&B Vocal Performance at the 22nd Grammy Awards. I believe that this event added to the spark that lit the fire inside him to create Thriller.

I was wondering if anyone could give me anymore information (with sources) regarding his reaction. What I have so far is:

1. He did not attend the awards because of this
2. He watched at home with Katherine, Latoya and Janet
3. It was on Weds Feb 27 1980
4. After crying a lot, he said out loud "You watch. The next album I do, you just... I'll show them"
5. He was upset Off the Wall didn't win Record of the Year and he told John Branca "it can never happen again".

That's about it. Any other details you could help me out with (big or small" would be greatly appreciated, particularly events leading up to this and after.

Thank you

OTW was the best selling album ever by a black artist at the time, wouldn't hurt to throw that in. You could bring race into it and talk about this, and how MJ's perfectionism made him want to achieve even more, cause this is a feat anyone would be satisfied with (Songs in the Key of Life held the record before I think) but he wanted to sell more, reach out to audiences more, get recognized by his peers in the industry. There are examples in the Moonwalk book if you already aren't referencing it for what it was like working on Thriller and how the mixing went in the end with Michael not liking the first result. Also, it says in Moonwalk Quincy liked Beat It and I think Billie Jean, but I've heard from many that he didn't want Billie Jean on the record and Michael had to fight for it, and same with Beat It, and it paid off in the end. If you read the credits for Billie Jean in Thriller, Quincy's name is nowhere on it and that is what I throw in the faces of those who think Quincy did all of Michael's work for him.

A few interesting things I remember from Moonwalk also is MJ was so busy composing Billie Jean in his head while in his car that someone had to pull them over and say their car was on fire, and they got out on time just before it exploded. And Wanna Be Startin Somethin' was originally written during the Off The Wall era. MJ wrote a song called PYT, Quincy liked it and had a team write an all new song called PYT which was the final result. It took forever for him record Lady In My Life and had to eventually do it alone to get in the mood. His JW religion was against the Thriller video, so that's what led to the disclaimer before almost not doing it. He didn't want to do Motown 25 cause he hated overexposure from TV appearances, but Berry Gordy talked him into it and mj agreed, if he was allowed to do BJ.

Mike was lucky that I wasn´t in that room cause I would have raped him right there. Just too hot. Some of my all time favourite footage.

I'm totally going to go again if I can. I find myself feeling more enthusiastic about him again than back then, I was still so emotional from losing him.

Michael's makeup looked nice during Invincible when he did an interview, with TV guide I think. He had short hair, and a dark blue shirt with a chain and subtle makeup colours. I used to get mad at people saying he needed someone else and thought it was judgmental, but when you do makeup or beauty procedures, you are subconsciously projecting your own standards of beauty or aspects of how you make yourself look onto your clients, and maybe that's what was happening with Michael though I would think he had full control over how he wanted to look too. If he was still alive, I thnk Kevyn Aucoin would have been a great makeup artist for him cause he was so talented and worked well with people of all backgrounds and made them look simply divine. He did Janet's makeup in the 90's, also worked with LMP and Madonna, and I think he had done the Rolling Stone shoot in 91'

Its not being judgmental when the criticism is based on her work. I think being judgmental is judging before you get to know a person or in this case see a persons work as a makeup artist.

Ive never particularly cared for Karen Faye as Michaels hair stylist and makeup artist because she did not do a good job. She used alot of unflattering shades on Michael and put to much make up on him alot of times. I also think she gave more of a feminine look to Michael with certain colors she used. Even in the 80s with Thriller she did not do a good job with his jerry curl but its because she didnt have alot of experience with that hair texture. Yes, I would have GREATLY prefered a black hair stylist and make up artist because they would have had experience with Michaels hair texture and skin tone to pick better shades...

While Michael looks attractive in the Thriller video... Karen put WAY to much obvious dark make up that did not blend at all with his skin and instead made him appear darker than what he was.

At the Virgin megastore signing... that orange eyeshadow was no excuse at all...

Michael Jackson's Posthumous Tribute to Whitney

Michael Jackson's Posthumous Tribute to Whitney
By DAVID WEINER
February 16, 2012

Whitney Houston had a very close connection to Michael Jackson, and ironically the pair had even more in common with their sudden, tragic deaths at almost the same exact age.

Now, ET has obtained a copy of a tribute to Whitney by the Jackson Estate that is running in trade magazines, the Los Angeles Times and Whitney's hometown paper, the Newark Star Ledger, on Saturday, the day of her funeral.

Whitney's Eerie Interview...l Jackson

Above the image of a single, perfect rose, the ad reads simply "Whitney," then below it, "In loving memory of her majestic voice, her radiant beauty and the magic she created on stage."

Whitney's Funeral Will St...n Internet

Stick with ETonline this Saturday for complete coverage of Whitney's funeral.

I heard Michael and Whitney recorded a song together. Does anybody know if it was finished? and do you think it'll be released in the near future? I definitely think a lot of people would be interested in it, and if it's a good song, it might even be able to become a #1 hit.

I think Michael mentioned that his vitiligo started to appear in between the making of the Beat It and Thriller videos so he had to use makeup to darken the spots.

True. I was just watching Thriller and I'm looking like "Sheesh, he's so dark in this video"

He was cute as hell in that video. And Rock with you too lol

Well, my source was wikipedia, so maybe it's wrong, but citing the book "For The Record", they say..

"Days Of A Broken Hearted" Michael Jackson
