I want this. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Why is it strange to you? There's nothing weird about it to me. I'd be writing it as well. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

it's maybe strange because this is the first time I see Mj write song titles on paper , I see he always writes song lyrics on paper not song titles but it's really interesting regardless and amazing to see ...... MICHAEL JACKSON

Sometimes even musicians can forget song titles, sometimes they have to write them down so they can remember it later when it comes to recording. Of course he never wrote lyrics but that doesn't mean he always remembered his song titles lol

Not strange. They were listing the songs to see what needs what and see which songs should make the cut. Some parts, he's giving Teddy instructions to work on certain things "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

His voice is amazing on this song. When I first heard it, I thought it was from a much earlier recording, but then knew it wan't since Michael is supposed to be current recordings. Anyway, he sounds so sweet.
Ahh, I see, it was an earlier record! [Edited 11/14/11 21:36pm]

A lot of MJ's songs were recorded years before being officially released
Wanna Be Startin Something - 1978 Dirty Diana - 1983 Liberian Girl - 1983 Another Part of Me - 1985 Stranger in Moscow - 1993 Black or White - 1986/87 They Don't Care About Us - Recorded as early as 1990 Earth Song - 1989/90

He'd sit on tracks and keep working on them until the right time
Michael and the brothers were writing songs back in 1973-75 at Hayvenhurst but Motown wasn't letting them release anything, so who knows how long he sat on a song like Blues Away or Do What You Wanna
He wrote Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' back in 1978-79 but held it from Quincy because it wasn't quite right. He finally played it for Q, Rod, and Greg Philliganes when Thriller came
Dirty Diana and Liberian Girl were probably concieved around the time he came up with State Of Shock back in '83.
Little Susie and Be Not Always were written in 1979 while he was recording Off The Wall, on the Destiny Tour AND planning and doing demos for Triumph. They were in the same notebook as You Not Me (the original version of This Had To Be) and Lovely One
The Way You Make Me Feel (then Hot Fever), Speed Demon, and Smooth Criminal were all demoed in 1985 (Roger Troutman worked on these sessions along with John Barnes)
Another Part Of Me was recorded in 1985 with John Barnes coproducing, but as we know, remixed for Bad. Matter of fact, John doesn't even get a production credit on the Bad version, even though all the 1987 mix is just a remix
Earth Song goes as far back as June 1988
Heal The World, Black Or White, Who Is It, Will You Be There, Keep The Faith, andDangerous were all concieved in 1988-89
Superfly Sister and They Don't Care About Us were conceived in 1990
Blood On The Dancefloor and Ghost are from 1990-91
I wrote all this without looking at reference notes or books. Just off the top of the brain "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yeah I was just about to ask how on earth you remember all this? people say that to me about MJ all the time, but you have me beat...and I thought Who Is It and Black or White were written right after the Bad album was completed

Lord knows The Jacksons (as a group) are sitting on so many records written by them that are unreleased. I wonder if they sing them daily .. Imagine them grocery shopping or chillin while humming "Slipped Away" or "That Girl"
I think State of Shock goes as far back as 1981. I read that he wanted to put that on the Thriller album but due to MJ and Freddie's schedules, they rejected the idea

Let's get serious (no pun intended) those brothers don't give a shit about music and haven't in decades. I highly doubt they are humming or writing anything. And don't bring up that mock reality show to defend them. They don't need a reality show to entertain us with their drama and freakshow.

Well "Who Is It" was written after the Bad album was complete since Bad was released in 87 but "Black or White" was
This is what Michael said about creating new songs and not releasing them. He said this during his 1984 Chicago Deposition when they played unreleased records like "Thank You For Life" and "Why Can't I Be?"
I write all the time. I have so many songs, and another song will come along and beat it out; not that those aren't good enough to release because I am going to do those in the future but it's just I get more excited about the next one and then the next one.
That goes for the songs Bboy and myself mentioned.
MJ also mentioned songs he recorded that he felt were "stronger" than the records on Thriller
Quincy wanted me to write a song for the movie with Richard Pryor, "The Toy" and it got too close to my doing Thriller. So I canned it, but I did write the song and I did a demo for "The Toy"

And then there's Buffalo Bill that was written and recorded in 1983. MJ said it was going to be a hit. Frank Dileo said in Rolling Stone it was going to be another dance floor hit. It was meant for Victory. Then reworked for BAD. And then it never gets released. How could a song be so hyped up and never be released?!?! Proof it was one thing to the next.
And how many times has Don't Be Messin' been reworked on? That's another...

As part of my current travels I'm doing Disney for a few days, and you know the first thing I did was Captain EO. Was great to see it again after so long. Was great to see so many people in EO t-shirts. Took me back to when I saw first time as a kid and I still have the original t-shirt and poster from its first release. INVESTING | 11/14/2011 @ 6:24PM |1,330 views Sony-EMI Deal Reunites Jackson 5 Songs With Michael Jackson In the years after Michael Jackson became an international superstar, the song “I Want You Back” took on a new, reflexive sort of meaning for him. Flush with cash from the stratospheric success of his solo career, Jackson thought seriously about buying the publishing rights to some of the songs he’d recorded years earlier as a member of the Jackson 5–including “I Want You Back,” one of hundreds in Motown’s Jobete catalog, then owned by the legendary Berry Gordy and his sister. Despite serious interest from Jackson, who was “like a son” to Gordy, the music mogul sold a 50% stake in the catalog to EMI for $132 million in 1997. But dreams often take a lifetime to achieve, and the King of Pop seems to have realized this one posthumously. On Friday, a Sony-led team of investors purchased EMI’s entire publishing catalog for $2.2 billion. The group includes billionaire David Geffen, the Blackstone Group’s GSO Capital Partners LP, and none other than the estate of Michael Jackson (its stake is nested within Sony’s 38% share of EMI, according to sources close to deal. The move makes sense for reasons beyond just the sentimental. Michael Jackson’s estate still co-owns the separate Sony/ATV publishing catalog in a joint venture with Sony; that company, headed by former EMI chief Marty Bandier, will administer the newly-acquired EMI assets on behalf of the investors. Still, the reunion is little more than a drop in the financial bucket. Because Sony/ATV will soon begin receiving administrative fees from the EMI catalog’s new owners, its own value is likely north of $2 billion as well. As for Jackson, his estate has raked in half a billion dollars since his death two and a half years ago. And though the King of Pop’s posthumous concert flick was called This Is It, he’s just getting started from a posthumous earnings perspective. Jackson’s Immortal World Tour, a partnership with Cirque du Soleil, is grossing $2.4 million a night; plans call for over 100 shows a year for each of the next three years. Buffalo Bill really needs to be released in it's original 1983 form and so does Don't Be Messin Around (which was recorded in 1982 for Thriller). The estate is sitting on a shit load of hits and they just don't know it.

Forget them being hits, just put them on a CD and give 'em to us
Shit they could put the songs on cassette tapes and hand them over in a musty ass box for all I care "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
