This quote from composer John Cage might provide some inspiration:

"If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience."

Now this is not to say that this particular genre is not musical (because it is), just musical in a different way than you may be used to.
