It is a great album, but all those tracks were produced on a major label while he was still TTD. He released it independently as Sananda, but thiose were major label tracks.

The new stuff (under Sandanda) sucks and I hate that he is surrounded by a bunch of sycophants who have helped him become the musical joke he now is. Soo much talent, wasted.

They were produced on a major label, but he already had changed his name for a long time already then. But please don't let us talk about the name change, but about the music . Wildcard is a great album. Non album tracks he released online like amoeba were also great from this period. It was after that when he lost me. I haven't really felt like checking his other new projects out since what little i did hear from them was a total non event for me. But wildcard is excellent. Still miffed that they deleted "paradise postponed" at the last minute, that song is an absolute classic. Listeb to that on headphones and tell me it's not brilliant. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Like George Michael & Michael Jackson, TTD had problems with Sony/Tommy Motolla. Terence said when Sony bought out CBS, the people who hired him were fired and the new people didn't really get behind him or know what to do with him. The Sony suits were like he's black, so R&B, and TTD didn't want to be marketed like that. They didn't want him to do the rock & pop tunes, so didn't put a lot of effort into promoting his records. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I loved his TTD albums, and I liked Wildcard a lot, but I kind of tuned out after that. Anyone got recommendations about what's worth seeking out amongst the material that followed? "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

Don't forget, MJ had issue with the label promoting him out of fear he would still his own thunder. Space for sale...

Terence did imply that people working for Michael (maybe Frank Dileo) talked Sony into not promoting the 2nd album. I don't think he said any names though, Michael or anyone else. I think he said something like "big star at the label". You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. wildcard is interesting in that there are 3 different versions of it
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

IIRC, Wildcard has different track listings/configurations/album art. I have the "Wildcard: Jokers Edition".
As for the MJ/Sananda stuff, I read that MJ's lawyer John Branca represented Sananda at the time too, and both were signed to Sony, or CBS as it was then. Apparently in the Taraborrelli book, it mentions about them possibly working together so I don't think MJ would have had any say in whether or not Sananda's music was promoted or not.
As for the promotion for Sananda's 2nd album, it would have been difficult to promote correctly due to the fact that it's eclectic compared to 'Introducing the Hardline....' which is a great Pop/Soul/R&B record. I personally like 'NFNF' and it has some very good songs on it. As for Sananda's new music, I think he could make another great R&B record like 'Introducing the Hardline...' or do a great R&B covers album which he proved he can do with To Be Loved, Wonderful World, A Change is Gonna Come and Who's Loving You.

Love TTD/Sananda. His TTD work is brilliant and even the Angels & Vampires albums have some gems on it. Losing Becomes Too Easy, from part I:

I just did a quick google search. "sananda paradise postponed" and it comes up with a lot of info, so where did you look? Anyway, it was on the original download version on his site and later taken off for the cd version. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Damn, this thread should be retitled the TTD/SM haters thread...
That Sgt. Pepper comment was over 20 years ago when he was a 20 something year old kid trying to make a name for himself... What, you've never said something stupid and regretted it? Oh wait, my bad, you guys like tearing people down on the org, it makes you feel good.
His last 3 releases ("Angels & Vampires," "Nigor Mortis," and "The Sphinx") are fucking classic.... Dude hasn't lost anything, he's gotten better, but you got people on this thread who don't appreciate the Beatles, so what the fuck do you expect? And we got some people on here who I won't mention who are gonna look at the Italian musicians (who are great musicians) and automatically dis them .... Fuckin' haters, get a life! If any of these songs were on his first four albums you would have a different opinion.... Musical joke? (as some genius up there said)... Dude you fools are too concerned with billboard charts, videos, singles, awards, and all that other BULLSHIT.... The fucking man is in control of all his music and his life.... Many of you are warped into thinking that everyone wants to be as famous as humanly possible, so that then you guys could complain about how fucked up their personal lives are because they are so famous (i.e. Prince, M.J.)... Like I said, some of you guys just wanna hate... Dude probably has plenty of money and just wants to lead a quieter life and play whatever the fuck kind of music he feels like. And record whatever the fuck he feels like. He's mentioned many times of the grueling battle he has had to face with the record company and Tommy Mattolla.... Don't you think all that bullshit could make you hate the industry and want to have nothing to do with it? He already experienced being super famous in the 80's, isn't possible that he realized all that bullshit isn't all it's cracked up to be? There is more to life than hit singles and videos and being famous.... He seems real happy. He's been married for about a decade now and has a one year old son... Appreciate his music and stop hating... If you haven't heard the new stuff, I highly recommend it, it's awesome... If you prefer the old stuff, just listen to the old stuff and move on.... Every few weeks it's the same bullshit thread on here... I try to ignore it but then I'm like, fuck it.....
Check it out:
From "Nigor Mortis" (great pop tune):
From "Angels & Vampires":
From "Nigor Mortis":
From "The Sphinx"... a beautiful ballad....

I guarantee this cat works for Sananda. Eventually we'll get other folks from his website, that will troll in here and attempt to tell us are ears are lying to us and we are stoopid to appreciate the great genius Sananda.

Cheers for the recommendations, BT11 and emilio319. Will have to pick up the albums they're from.

I am nearly a 100% sure he does not work for him. He always loved Sananda's current music. Would you say that everybody who likes an album like NPS is working for Prince? Ha!!!! Trust me, I don't work for SM... Just a hardcore, long time fan that really appreciates his music... My apologies to some of the cool people here if my post was a little harsh but I get annoyed with some of the comments on here.... Thanks Serious!.... And DeeBee... Great song!

I haven't noticed all that many haters in the thread. Need to try to learn to ignore it, like I have learned to ignore all of the pathetic Jacko Wackos around who seem to have conveniently forgotten what a washed up mess he was by the time he finally overdosed himself to death...
As I said in my OP, I absolutely adore TTD, but have always had a hard time warming up to Angels and Vampires. I put it on my iPod today to give it another try, because I really have loved ALL of the guys music. Are Nigor Mortis and Sphynx better than A&V? Would love a mini review from you, being that it seems you're one of the few here who have heard them.
I agree with you, in that I also admire that the guy has definined what is really important in life. I'm sure he is making a comfortable living off of making his music and touring in Europe, enjoying his family, etc. If you can support yourself with your art and enjoy your life, that is the true measue or artistic success. It seems to me that in doing so, he's living a more authenticly spiritual existance than some of the folks he gets compared to.
I wish he would play here in the States again, as he put on one of the most memorable shows I've ever seen.

Yeah I always tell myself to ignore it but then I go and give in.... Well, it's hard for me to give you a review because I truly love all three albums and honestly find them all to be fantastic.... What I would suggest is going to his website (www.sanandamaitreya.com)... There is a music player that launches on the bottom and allows you to hear a song from each album... Right now you can hear "Christine" (from "The Sphinx" album) and "Because You've Changed" (from "Nigor Mortis")... You should check them out... I don't know but to me, the thread that ties the greatness of his old stuff and his new stuff is readily apparent to me... Also, he has put up quite a few concerts in their entirety from the last 5 or 6 years up on youtube where you can check out a lot of his latest work... Just look up some of the song titles on youtube.... And I saw him live in '95 and it was phenomenal... Best concert I've ever seen...

I'd say Madonna, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Janet Jackson, and even Prince get a lot worse comments. Why get so upset about it? Negative people are always going to exist. Ignore them. Responding doesn't accomplish anything but the other person saying more things to rile you up and it never ends like revenge. I also saw him in '95 I think. He was blond and promoting Vibrator, so it must have been '95. Were we at the same show? Even though it was over 15 years ago, I still can picture it like yesterday. I remember that lead guitarist with the dreads was a MONSTER!

Yeah, Vibrator tour...The London show from that tour is up on youtube in it's entirety and it's awesome.... I saw him in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on that tour... Yeah the lead guitar player, Louis Metoyer, is awesome... I had the pleasure of meeting him and hanging out with him just a few months ago because he was playing in Orlando, FL. Super nice guy, really down to earth, could not have been nicer... And killer guitar player!

No, what you need to do is accept the fact that people are going to have a different opinion than you. Here we are, adults, enjoying a conversation and you storm in like your freaken Darth Vadar defending The Empire and spewing sh*t about people like there's no tomorrow. And now your gonna be all passive and say, "golly gee, I should just ignore people"? Bullsh*t! Just accept the fact that a lot of TTD's fans think his current music is crap. That doesn't take away your enjoyment of his music one bit so stop acting like it does.
There, I've spoken my mind. Space for sale...

I'm totally okay with people having different opinions but there's a difference between having a difference of opinion and saying ignorant shit like he's a musical joke or some b.s. like that... That's just showing how ignorant you are.... Dude you have over 30,000 posts on this forum, you really need to get a life! Maybe then you would not be spewing so much ignorance... But like I said, that's what a lot of you guys come here for..... There, I've spoken my mind, once again! Is that non-passive enough for you?
