No, what you need to do is accept the fact that people are going to have a different opinion than you. Here we are, adults, enjoying a conversation and you storm in like your freaken Darth Vadar defending The Empire and spewing sh*t about people like there's no tomorrow. And now your gonna be all passive and say, "golly gee, I should just ignore people"? Bullsh*t! Just accept the fact that a lot of TTD's fans think his current music is crap. That doesn't take away your enjoyment of his music one bit so stop acting like it does.

There, I've spoken my mind. lol

I'm totally okay with people having different opinions but there's a difference between having a difference of opinion and saying ignorant shit like he's a musical joke or some b.s. like that... That's just showing how ignorant you are.... Dude you have over 30,000 posts on this forum, you really need to get a life! Maybe then you would not be spewing so much ignorance... But like I said, that's what a lot of you guys come here for..... There, I've spoken my mind, once again! Is that non-passive enough for you?

I need to get a life? falloff

Whose the person who always pops up to defend a musical artist like he's your sweet sixteen? lol

Look, it's called a personal opinion. To the majority of us here who are pretty savy and knowledgable musical lovers here, TTD's current music does suck and it is a joke. Don't get your panties in a bunch because we feel that way. Disagree all you want. Share why you love it but get off your high horse and accept the majority here think your boyfriend's music now sucks! razz

And for the record, the fact that someone like TheAudience respects my personal musical taste is all the validation I need to dismiss your ill-informed "ingorance" claim. I'm sorry if all this hurts your feelings. We all know how much space TTD occupies in your heart. peace

ps..dont hate that my career choice allows me to surf the internet and the org and make awesome friends who I get to meet in person and hang out with. This place is a community. Something you obviously don't get by your pathetic research in my profile. OMG: 30K posts in 15 years! OMG! And in the interum, I got a man elected into US Congress, started an LGBT Pride Center non-profit for my community and have wonderful friends and family. But yeah, I need a life. lol

Regarding the boyfriend comment, Nah bro, I don't swing that way at all, I'm sorry to disappoint you..... I simply love SM's music and I think he's one of the greatest artist of our time and I hate to see ignorant fools bashing away at the man and his work, possibly discouraging others from searching out his latest albums, all while they cowardly hide behind their online aliases. And I'm glad you feel special because another orger gave you a gold star of approval... No disrespect to The Audience cuz from what I've seen online he seems like a real cool guy but I don't need anyone else to validate my opinion to make me feel worthy....

So why the baby fit all up in this thread?

And for the record, I'd take a gander that everyone here, within this thread, feels that TTD is of the greatest artist of all time. I won a kids talent show lipsyncing to the dude and was forever called Trent Darby for it. Yet, I still have ears and the right to say his current music sounds and smells like ass.

Deal with it! lol

I think that the "problem" with Sananda is that for a lot of people he completely disappeared. The name change didn't do him any favours either. It's great that he's independent and doing what he wants to do but he makes it kind of hard/expensive to hear his new music, at least on cd.

The average person thinks TTD is a 1 or 2 hit wonder. So to them he wasn't really there to disappear.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Sure but even for people who were between a casual and a hardcore fan he has kept an extremely low profile. If I could get his new albums for a reasonable price with a minimum of hassle I would probably own some of them.

It's true. I was a bigger fan than most, still WAY into him during Vibrator, but it took me a while to even know Wildcard existed. Same is true for Angels & Vampires.

I purchased A&V through his own website, so you think I would have been alerted via email that there have been SEVEN releases since then for me to purchase. But I don't think I have ever gotten a single email from him.

Also annoying that he doesn't seem to offer his music in a lossless digital format.

Still love the guy and listening to Angels & Vampires now. Maybe this time, it will finally start to grow on me.

Adorecream

I say it in every TTD, Sananda thread and I will say it again, I think the guy is great, his voice is one of a kind and some of his songs are truly unforgettable. Hes a bit like Prince but his own style has more soul and pure rock behind it, TTD can sing circles around Prince (Except Adore). People need to stop comparing them just because they are both light skinned black men who are real musicians and are quite flamboyant. TTD is not that flamboyant now anyway.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

IIRC, Wildcard has different track listings/configurations/album art. I have the "Wildcard: Jokers Edition".

As for the MJ/Sananda stuff, I read that MJ's lawyer John Branca represented Sananda at the time too, and both were signed to Sony, or CBS as it was then. Apparently in the Taraborrelli book, it mentions about them possibly working together so I don't think MJ would have had any say in whether or not Sananda's music was promoted or not.

As for the promotion for Sananda's 2nd album, it would have been difficult to promote correctly due to the fact that it's eclectic compared to 'Introducing the Hardline....' which is a great Pop/Soul/R&B record. I personally like 'NFNF' and it has some very good songs on it. As for Sananda's new music, I think he could make another great R&B record like 'Introducing the Hardline...' or do a great R&B covers album which he proved he can do with To Be Loved, Wonderful World, A Change is Gonna Come and Who's Loving You.

The book actually says that MJ wasn't happy with John Branca representing Terence aswell as him (he wanted lawyers, managers etc.. just to work for him and nobody else - to concentrate on his career) but he called Terence to say that he was ok with it and made sure he was polite just in case they ended up working together lol

Would have been good to hear something from them. Just Good Friends part 2 lol

Prints

Just listening to Angels & Vampires, a lot of songs, the recording sound is not anything great, but there are plenty of good melodies and lyrics here to release a good 3,5-4 star (Allmusic) pop album.

Wildcard is an excellent album - better than most of the stuff that Prince has released recently IMO.

Unfortunately Sananda doesn't care about the public and record deals anymore. At least Prince is touring and still releasing quite good albums (TRC, 3121, Musicology, Lotusflower) with excellent 1-2 songs on them.

Actually average today's music listeners (from radio, MTV, VH1, youtube) don't know much about Prince either. So these 80s legends are quite forgotten.

As much as wanted to like them, listening was somewhat laborious. Next time I listen, I'll rate as I go along, and try to come up with a decent post-Wildcard playlist/compilation.

Great thread biggrin!

He is my favourite artist and like I just said on the other thread before I found this one I love his albums from The Hardline until Wildcard, especially Vibrator, Symphony and Wildcard. After Wildcard I pretty much stopped listening to the newer stuff I must confess even though I have most of it. There are some personal reasons for that too, but mainly that I just don't feel that music as much as I feel his older music.

"Holding On To You" is my favourite song ever and "Vibrator" is my favourite album ever, I love it from start to finish.

I saw him live quite some times over the years and his Vibrator show I went to was the best concert I have ever been to in my whole life and I have seen tons of great concerts including about 50 Prince shows.

Definitely one of my Top Five all time.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Just wanted to draw attention to this underrated gem. It was the b-side to "Wishing Well," but they thankfully put it on his hits collection.

I'm obsessed with this man right now!, Neither Fish Nor Flesh, Symphony Or Damn & Vibrator are amazing records, some of the most unique i have ever listened to!

I know i know Terence has the ego the size of the world. But the man is so talented he play's 13 or 14 instruments, sings, writes his own songs and now produces. His vocal range is amazing, i think his vocal range from the albums i listened to are just as good as Michael Jackson or Prince. He's got very different styles and performances. I Think he should have been have been even bigger but oh well! there is still these fine albums.

I am currently getting his Sananda albums

You're a brave man. Why potentially mess up a good thing? Get Wildcard and then you'll have all 5 records TTD released, albums that all contain some truly excellent material. I wouldn't dream of messing that up by getting into the Sananda stuff... at least not so quickly. Bask in the beauty while you can!
