Happy belated birthday to Brooklyn's own Lil Kim who celebrated her 36th birthday yesterday.

The Queen Bee has been making her rounds lately hitting a number of clubs including Atlanta's famed Velvet Room on Sunday nights where the venue held a welcome home party for recently freed rapper Gucci Mane and celebrities including boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The Michael Antonio photo was released along with the news that Kim is on the verge of releasing a new single "Looks Like Money" produced by Rockwilder off her upcoming album.

Black Friday was my guilty pleasure song this year. If she can make another album as good as hardcore, I would be one happy little gay!

That will only happen if she can raise biggie from the dead since he wrote most of her rhymes and gave her her style.

I watched a pro-Lil Kim video (against Faith Evans and Voletta Wallace) that said that Kim usually lists BIG as an executive producer to help put money in the late rapper's estate, for Ms. Wallace and for his children. As for songwriting, I think she does do her own writing and was coached by BIG.

Anyways, this is quite interesting. Rockwilder hasn't produced anything in years, has he?

She writes most her stuff NOW but back then it was pretty well known that he ghosted most of that album just like Jay wrote Foxy's debut. To me the biggest proof is how they both fell off drastically since then. I also remember hearing a tape that came out of Big in the studio with Kim telling her what to say and how to say it.

She has up to one hundred songs listed under her name on BMI....I think she is getting paid those royalties..all the public has to do is look that up

They are still talking about the first album..even though she is 4 albums twenty somethin' unreleased tracks and two mixtapes deep in now...it's like....alright are the rumors going to stop now?

Yeah it was just one album where BIG was a co-writer. But Kim did write on that album despite people trying to say she didn't.

Kim did write it but BIG was showing her HOW to rap it. Much like when Puff (and Pac) taught BIG how to rap the songs he did. Same thing really. Don't know if this was the same for Foxy and Jay-Z but I know that's how it was with Kim and BIG.

Ghostwriters aren't always credited especially if the song is sold to the artist for a fee. It's a way to keep the writer's identity a secret. So I'm not buying that she wrote most of Hardcore. Like I said why would her lyrical skills diminish from her first album when compared to all that followed? Don't people usually get better as they develop their skills over time?

Also, that demo isn't the tape I heard. The one I heard was circulating among industry folks soon after the album dropped and a friend at Jive played it for me. Regardless, I still love Lil Kim

Besides, since when is the info in BMI or the credits irrefutable proof that someone did or did not write a song? I bet Beyonce and Puff are all up an' thru BMI credited for shit they didn't do. So why is it so hard to believe that LK didn't write as much of her debut?

I agree, she coulda had more success but I think she was her own worst enemy in that regard. She fucked up her face and turned herself into a joke. Plus the jail stint pretty much brought her career to a screeching halt and record companies weren't gonna seriously fuck with her again. Then she fucked around and got old.
