Good job! I hope this means we see more releases from the album. I would still like to see Behind the Mask come out, or possibly Another Day, the original leaked version.

[Edited 5/31/11 20:09pm]

Behind the Mask is scheduled for release.

As for Another Day, it deserves to get a release - one of the stand out tracks on the album.

It would be awesome if Another Day coincided with Lenny Kravitz's new album and was promoted at the same time smile It would definitely be a hit. Though I like the album version, the leaked one did it for me more.

I do remember Behind the Mask being mentioned as a release at some point, did they also mention working on a video for it?

Hooray For 'Hollywood': Michael Jackson Tops Dance/Club Play Songs

The King reigns again.

Michael Jackson leads Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart for the first time in almost 16 years, as "Hollywood Tonight," from his posthumous album "Michael," rises 2-1.

With the coronation, the late King of Pop collects his eighth solo No. 1 on the survey, tying him with Enrique Iglesias for most leaders among men in the chart's 35-year history. Prince follows with seven toppers.

Madonna leads all artists with 40 Dance/Club Play Songs No. 1s, followed by Jackson's sister Janet (19). Jackson, who passed away June 25, 2009, had last ruled with Janet when their duet "Scream" led the weeks of July 15 and 22, 1995.

(Iglesias had claimed a solo share for most Dance/Club Play Songs among solo males when "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)," featuring Ludacris and DJ Frank E, topped the Feb. 5, 2011, tally. "I am such a big fan of both Prince and Jackson, and to be included in this elite group of artists is such an honor," Iglesias told Billboard at the time. "I've been reading Billboard since I was a child and I'm very proud to be part of music history").

Jackson's 15-year, 11-month break between No. 1s marks the chart's longest since Cyndi Lauper ended a 24-year, three-month gap between "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (March 24, 1984) and "Same Ol' Story" (June 28, 2008). (Lauper didn't have to wait long for her next No. 1; "Into the Nightlife" followed "Story" to the summit the week of Aug. 30, 2008).

Here is a recap of Jackson's eight solo Dance/Club Play Songs No. 1s; he first dominated as a member of the Jacksons, with "Forever Came Today" (four weeks, 1975) and "Lovely One"/"Can You Feel It"/"Walk Right Now" (one week, 1980). (Previously, combinations of album cuts were eligible to chart as one entry).

Title, Date reached No. 1, Weeks at No. 1
"Thriller (all cuts)," Jan. 22, 1983, 11 weeks
"Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' (Too Good to Be True)" (Jermaine Jackson& Michael Jackson), June 9, 1984, three weeks
"Bad (Remix)," Nov. 7, 1987, two weeks
"The Way You Make Me Feel," Jan. 30, 1988, one week
"In the Closet," June 13, 1992, one week
"Who Is It," May 22, 1993, one week
"Scream" (Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson), July 15, 1995, two weeks
"Hollywood Tonight," June 11, 2011, one week (to-date)

That is awesome Swa! Did you rock the $300 or the $600 one? Can't wait to see it. Post some pics if you display it!

Just the $300 one. I highly recommend the book if they sell it as a stand alone - as it is very descriptive about the whole piece and takes you through every element - many I hadn't noticed - and there is a nice touch in it that there are 50 visual metaphors in the painting to represent Michael - the obvious ones like Peter Pan and the shooting star - but also an empty throne and all the bubbles that contain images as they approach This Is It - there is a collection that begin to burst signifying his sudden death. There are also nice touches such as 3 fruit on a velvet pillow to represent his children and his care for them.

I'll post more details when I get a chance. I hope to have it framed at the end of the month.

Oh and it is number 50/1000 - kinda fitting

^^ Oh and for the curious it doesn't include the prince symbol - shame really as it was the artist's original intent to include it - but we know how that played out.

Oh, I know that already.

I also believe that one day it'll be proven that it's really MJ on at least some of the Malachi songs, including "Let Me Let Go".

It's at that point I fully expect every last one of the fans saying this stuff to backtrack completely, rave about how wonderful they think those same songs are, and about how his performances on them are so perfect he brought them to tears. lol

I'm not new to this shit; I've been in the online MJ fan-world for years...God help me lmao.

And by "God", no I don't mean Michael, you guys. biggrin

omfg

confused neutral

Let me Let go is a garbage , A mess , MJ didn't touch that shit....he simply didn't!

Yeah that tune came out for the fake "7" album that never happened. Then I remember Jason Malachi came out and said that tune was his.

And then, Michael Jackson died in June 2009. And, as the world mourned the King of Pop, things took a strange, but fortuitous turn.

“People will see me and hear music on my Facebook and MySpace, and they think it’s a conspiracy, that I don’t exist and Michael didn’t die," Malachi says. "They talk about how 'Malachi' backwards is 'Michael', it’s crazy. They write these long things..."

Indeed, the Web is filled with strange rants about Malachi and Michael. One fan writes, under the Facebook topic "Jason Malachi is Michael ...ce is HERE": "Trust me, if there was someone out there who sounded identical to Michael Jackson the way that "Jason Malachi" does, he'd definitely have 15 or 30 minutes of fame. And somehow, the ONLY information you can dig up on Jason Malachi is from his myspace page. This whole thing is WAY to quiet."

Those MJ fans who believe that Malachi does indeed exist seem to be more open to his music now that the real MJ is gone. In missing Michael, some seem to be embracing Malachi. "Before [Jackson died], reaction was about 50/50, of people that liked it or didn't like it," Malachi says. "I was getting threats from people saying, 'You're trying to be like Michael, he's our king, leave him alone.' And then other people were like, 'Oh this is a new chapter.' After he passed it seemed like a total [positive] transition. "

The singer was even invited to perform at a special event at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in June, to honor Jackson, performing with established artists such as Angie Stone.

Malachi says that despite having to cram in rehearsals between sheriff duties, he killed it. He brought dancers with him, and even moved the crowd after the CD of music brought started skipping and he had to sing a capella."

“I let crowd pick, I said, 'Y’all wanna hear a Michael Jackson song?' One lady wanted 'Gone Too Soon,' and when I started doing it, I saw people crying," he says. "I did 'Wanna Be Startin' Somethin',' which is a hard song to do, and nailed the vocals. But I didn’t want to do Michael's choreography. I didn’t want to be a copycat, I wanted to differentiate."

Malachi also put a couple of his own songs in the set, he says, and passed out CDs, but the Michael songs were the highlight.

"Even my wife sometimes is like, 'Honey, I gotta be honest with you, you sometimes sing Michael's songs better than your songs,'" Malachi says.

Malachi is figuring out exactly how to capitalize on the Jackson-driven interest in his music without venturing into impersonation.

On his latest album, Malachi reworked the track "A Hero Fell," which was originally created for USA Cares, as a song for the troops, into a Jacko tribute. He also says that three of his songs turned up on a Michael Jackson ultimate collection release in China, "I'm just riding in the Honda with my wife, and we're listening to the set ,and there are songs on there listed as new Michael songs, but they're my songs," Malachi says.

Although Malachi's attorney is on the case, trying to figure out why Malachi's music is on a Jackson comp, the singer says that he can understand the interest in his music from Jacko fans.

"I'm mentioned a lot on Michael Jackson fan websites," he says. "People will say, 'now that Michael's gone, he's the closest thing we've got vocally.'"

Natural Selection and Ready For The World might as well had been Prince..thank god they actually released an album to prove that it was not.

I think Behind The Mask is already out in some countries. From what I heard, it didn't do well in France. It's also the current single in Japan. the US was supposed to get it but instead they released Hollywood Tonight first. We'll get BTM next

I always felt that the leaked version of LNFSG was too high pitched. I think Michael recorded the song at a different key than it is shown here (F I believe). It sounded more like F-minor or even B-major...
