I dismissed Gov Hooker as a bad shit-hop/shit-dance hybrid (you know, like the "Ke$ha" song off the album, or sumthing) but I was wronng, it's HOT stuff . I just prefer Judas before Gov Hooker, it's too slow for a number 3 song... and Judas, sorry but IT'S THE JAM OF THE YEAR. A wet dream for 2011: pure electronic sound AGAIN (not that fake shit-dance shit), fast tempo, catchy chorus, badass attitude, hell I can't wait to dance to this jam in a dark club with hot gogo's and semi-stoned people Ah-ah-ahhh-ow uh uh o Ah-ah-ahhh-ow uh uh o I'll bring him down, bring him down, down!! A king with no crown, king with no crown

I wonder when I pick it up this week, will they have both editions or the standard one with the motorbike. Either or I'll still get it anyways. I don't even give a fuck anymore...

Don't judge on the title lol
I actually was expecting it to be real decent and it was but now I know I'll play it to death and I disagree I don't think it's slow at all. Sure it's not the remixed version but it'll do.

I’m glad it wasn’t that far from the remixed version I was going to have a heartattack if it was different

Yeah I was about to say "if this shit is a ballad or something... "
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
why don't you just buy your fav songs via iTunes or something? lol
I mean, do you really need to hear Hair or Unicorn again??
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Get the special edition and the booklet is nice. It doesn't matter though you can just download the bonus track you like.

You ever heard of fast -forward
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yep, get the special edition. Black Jesus is worth the price of admission.

THANK YOU! I'll hit skip faster than you can say GA-GA OOH LA LA!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I might check Black Jesus out later and The Queen. I'm having a feeling I may like Black Jesus over The Queen though, dnw...

iTunes clogs up my RAM so naw lol [Edited 5/30/11 15:26pm]

ok then: do you really need Hair or Unicorn in your house, on your shelve?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I must say even though it’s not solid like the fame monster because there is some filler I am satisfied with the album. I hope with the next one she takes time to really put out more quality songs she's at a point she doesn’t need to rush and less hype.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don’t play those songs at all so it’s okay
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The Queen is so bad it's good. At least you will laugh
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'll take your word over it. Hell Americano gave me some comic relief.

I'm a bit late hearing the album, I just got it today and only managed two listens so far. Initial impression is that it's good but not quite as good as The Fame. That could change as I get more familiar with it.
I am slightly disappointed that there aren't really any tracks that use organic instrumentation (ok, maybe "You and I"). I'd like to hear her do some simple piano based ballads.
No one is talking about the remix disc. I'm not crazy about any of the remixes but I do like "Born This Way (Country Road Version)." It's not really a remix, more an alternate take.
Also a little surprised that the issue of censored lyrics hasn't come up. I'm guessing that in "Government Hooker" the censoring was done on purpose and as a part of the song but I don't really like the other censored bits. She did the same thing with The Fame Monster.
Oh, and why is she wearing mom jeans in the booklet? I'm guessing it's some kind of nod to the '80s but couldn't she have found a nicer pair?
I know this was already posted but I don't think anyone will mind a bigger version: [img:$uid]http://ladygaganow.net/gallery/albums/Studio%20Photoshoots/2011/Nick%20Knight%20Photo%20Shoot%20BTW/NewNK.jpg[/img:$uid]
Here's another recent pic I like:

You people with the ass picture lol and I think this album was meant to have a parental advisory sticker I think in the future she will put out an album with a sticker. Americano honestly was meant to be humorous I do listen to it because it’s so bad it’s good.

Hell, I ain't ashamed to say I got BOTH! In love with all of it, including the bonus disc in the deluxe package. The Country Road BTW is a jam, and the 10-minute Mugler remix of Scheibe is SICK! "Get up off that grey line"

The title track effectively samples Madonna's Express Yourself. I know there's often imitation in pop music, but I knew from first listen that it sounded like a Madonna song.

That's been the topic at hand ever since the song first came out, and I still don't think it does. "Get up off that grey line"

I forgot to mention when I listened to the album the first time I sat down with the booklet and read the lyrics like I used to do obsessively and I have to say the lyrics are very weak. It's pop music so I don't think it takes anything away from the enjoyment of the music but these are some mediocre lyrics.
I did notice that the lyrics to "Bad Kids" include quite a few lines that are not featured in the album version. I wonder if there will be a 12" version?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think it's so obvious that it should be referenced as source material in the liner notes, at least nobody could take issue with her about it then.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think comparing it to EY is disrespectful to Madonna herself. It really don't need comparisons. That said, BTW does sound 1980s-ish, which was probably part of the concept of this album any-fuckin-ways lol
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
yep, some of the lyrics are so bad that they actually RUIN certain songs... this is PURE pop I guess, but still nowhere as bad as Abba, lol the kings & queens of bad lyrics...
and thank you for the bigger ass picture, definitely in my personal desktop for the next couple of weeks
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
If that was the case, why not ALL of them? Gaga's far from the only one to have their music compared to some older song.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You saying the GaGa song ain't worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence or what?
I'm bemused anybody could fail to notice the similarities, it's like a verifiable fact.
DJ White Shadow? for fucks sake
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
This subject is beyond tired at this point, but the only similarity I hear is in a bit of the chorus melody. That's it. Pat Leonard's EY beat is horn and percussion driven. The BTW beat is techno and gritty. Hell, "Hair" is closer to Pat Benatar's "We Belong" than BTW is to EY, in my opinion. Doesn't detract from the fact that "Hair" is a fuckin' awesome battle cry for misunderstood youth. "Get up off that grey line"

Well I've only heard a few songs off the album, and Born This Way seems overtly influenced by a single song. so y'know.
