Lupe Fiasco spits the ugly truth in Words I Never Said Lyrics here:
He may not win points with some people but he spoke the truth on this song. Its so rare to hear a real message in today's pop music that you would almost miss it. I'm glad to see an ARTIST making ART in the mainstream instead of just babbling about cash, cars and girls or spitting platitudes. This is reminiscent of M.I.A.'s "Born Free" video. I like it.

Its a great lyric and things that have been said but almost never in the music industry, he needs to also throw some truth on his rap genre, like LL did on "Dear Hip Hop" which was the first time i heard someone that was in rap mainstream speak truth to the game, LL also hit people like Flo-rida and others hard on "This is ringtone Murder", props to Lupe for taking rap there on this one, but as always will the "ears" be open from the public "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

That comes later. Right now, we're staying on topic with this shit right here. Its too good to sidestep.
"I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit
That shit is HOT! | |

Everything is on point, that 9/11 thing though is played out, and was exposed as nothing more as internet rumour. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Good song. I would love to talk to Lupe about his views on President Obama. We'd probably be locked away for days

More people need to listen to Lupe I see so many on here complain about shit hop w/e lol he’s far from it. Unfortunately his latest album had to be watered down for his label but lupe is still good.

I've heard his shit and it's good, next time I see the album, I'll buy it for real. But yeah I've noticed that: most people talk about hip-hop reducing itself to shit-hop but this is proof hip-hop ain't dead.

That's right. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I like old stuff from more established artists, but Lupe Fiasco is the only (relatively) new rap artist whose music I still buy. He's nearly the only mainstream rapper who has something serious to say. time flies.

ah! i'm so happy people are FINALLY getting up on lupe! this man deserves all the props he's been getting as of late and THEN SOME! he's really amazing guys, seriously delve into his back catalog. i've been riding with wasalu since the farenheit 1st & 15th mixtape days! and even tho he went thru all that shit with his label he STILL delivered. lyricall imo lasers is probably his best work even though i'm not really digging the music. eh concessions i guess. o well. its all good. he's a very passionate brother. Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

This guy can't even stand up to the record company that he is signed to and I'm supposed to believe that he is going to lead the revolution?
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

Good stuff. The 9/11 thing was absurd, but aside from that it's infinitely better than most hip-hop.

Dude spit undeniable truth. No matter what your opinion is of the messenger, the message is strong. Who else at his level is talking about this?

if our govt. wasn't so screwed up, nobody would be talking about a 9/11 conspiracy
nice to see a rapper talk about how people in the ghetto blame their problems on stuff instead of trying to fix problems Prince - not black, not white........just COOL

Ive always loved Lupe and been a fan... For the most part, out of all the popular rappers of today he makes pretty descent music and a pretty damn good rapper but never gets props.. like with most things that are not generic..true ish on the song.

I don't agree with everything he says, but I respect a man speaking his mind without being a dick.
I respect a man trying to do good. I respect a man using his art for something other than denigration, boasting and all the easy tasteless BS in music today.
But most importantly, the song is hot!

He covered a lot more than the Sept. 11, 2001 attack. I think you oversimplified and overgeneralized what he said about "people in the ghetto", too. Not everyone sits back idley and plays armchair complainer but I think he was speaking specifically to those who do.

What in the hell are you talking about?!? Lupe put up a fight against the label execs for 5 years before THIS latest album was release. Granted, the exces got the last laugh only because Lupe is still under contract. But at least Lupe put up a fight. In the end, the controversial compromise was made in order for the execs to prevent Lupe from suing them in direct violation to The Teena Marie law.

Lupe has always been about talking his mind and not focusing on things that other mainstream rappers rap about. "When I want to hear good music, I write it myself"

Lupe was born and raised a muslim his real name is Wasalu Muhammad, he also has a black belt in Karate 7, but what comes to mind is would all the comments still be "This shit is fire!" or "Lupe is the truth" if it they had come out of the mouth of some arab/muslim rapper with a beard or even ur african american rapper like Freeway or Brother Ali???, or does he have to be a hippy with swag like Lupe (No hate btw fan since F&L), Im just curious.

I knew Lupe was a Muslim when I started this thread. His religion is not relevant when it comes to his rap skills and his message. Many people feel the way he does and have said some of the same things as he did in the song, including myself. Its a common sentiment among some people. I'm glad to see him maturing into who he is today. I had gripes with dude when he was so disrespectful to Tribe Called Quest after their tribute and was wondering if he was a "fiasco" himself because the messages in his music conflicted with the attitude he was displaying at the time. He's finally growing up and his music is growing, too. Its always good to see progress.

this man is sexy, too bad he stop practicing his Islamic religion.
I still don't trust him, cause he is in the idustry and has occult symbols in some of his videos.
