Janet-You Aint Right appreciation

This track is so underrated. When I first heard it, it sounded like an MJ-Prince-Timbaland type of style to me. I love the lyrics, and can sort of relate to the betrayal she was singing about. I already know where this topic is going based on comments by Janet and the kids over the years, but I guess I was in a partner and friends type of situation with backstabbing going on recently and feel sick thinking about it, so I feel Janet's pain in it lol Bitch, you aint right!

My girlfriend had my back just to stab oh yea

I love this song. Wish there were more personal dance tunes on this album (and later albums). She shines when she tells the truth about her life...or politics...it is her greatest achievement in her music.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

love this song, why didn't she make a video and release it.

I always felt like she could have done more for the All for you Era. It seemed so rushed. That album sold a lot but i still think its underrated forreal.

"You Ain't Right" would have been a WAY BETTER 3rd single choice than that AWFUL "Son Of A Gun" crap. Y.A.R. is BANGIN'-ASS Funk! Plus, it had great potential to be remixed all OVAH the place! What were they THINKING? Never mind. They WEREN'T. sad

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I was so sure it would have been released cause of including it in the MTV Icon performance of All For You, but I'm glad we at least got the tour version of it, I LOVE it live with the two dancers by her sides, awesome! I think Virgin was probably broke cause of the Mariah issue that year, my theory on it, cause Come On Get Up got cancelled as a single, and I know Janet wanted Trust a Try to be the second single so badly and told MTV it will be, but then I expected it to come out in 2002 and nothing. Had the promo continued into 2002, it would have been 5 times platinum in the US for sure instead of at 3.1 million copies (was following soundscan at the time, the 2 times platinum figure is outdated)

Hell yeah, this is one dope Rockwilder-produced track, and the perfect opener for the All For You album. It's been speculated that it's either about Tina Landon or Tish Oliver, a backup dancer during the janet. era, but no one knows for sure. The choreography created for it is sick.

From Janet's MTV ICON special. Beginning at 4:55, they perform a bit of the YAR choreography.

I always loved this song but one of my favorites on the CD is the Japanese bonus cut Who. What do you guys think of that one??

"Who" is the business.

A lot of the unreleased/b-sides from the All For You and the Damita Jo sessions are hot, and could have easily replaced what made it to those albums. Another fave, from the Damita Jo sessions...

I LOVE Could This Be Love. They made a mistake not putting that on the album. Was this on any imports or did it leak online? It's in such good quality that I thought it was ripped from a CD.

Why Virgin didn't release "You Ain't Right" as a single I'll never get to this day. "Son of a Gun" was the wrong song to release too.

I see you one "Put Your Hands On Me" and I raise you one, "Clap Your Hands".....

Put Your Hands On is so smooth. Clap Your Hands and What Can I Say were both produced by Rich Harrison I believe. Has he fell off the map or something? The last thing I remember hearing from him was his girl group Richgirl. But that didn't go nowhere. What up Rich? razz

Rich produced some songs off Marsha Ambrosius' debut album.

Word? I'll have to them out. I like Marsha anyway, I just haven't copped her joint yet. She can make some sexy shit. Do you know the songs he produced for her debut?

Yeah, "Put Your Hands On" is pure silk. As for the third All For You single, I think it should've been either "Trust a Try" or "You Ain't Right" too. Hell, that whole era was too short, and Virgin dropped the ball completely. I think those two singles, along with a ballad ("China Love" could have had a kick-ass video) would have closed that era nicely.

Both All for You and Damita Jo had potential. With AFY, it depended on song choice (which was an ultimate fail on Virgin's part), with Damita Jo, some of the best songs were NOT even on the album.
