We all have our issues with Justin Bieber being the real deal in the music scene but there is another young singer who made the scene and is getting good popularity.

He is pretty good. but his songs are annoying.

I don't think music historians will view him as an important figure. His cliched songwriting is what passes for clever wordplay today.

He's another talented tool who will be misused by his label.

I agree. Loving someone "just the way they are" may be nice but it's nothing but cliches. I do love his vocals though...

Exactly my point.

He will most likely remain "in his lane" and not branch out musically. I hope he proves me wrong, because he is a talented dude but nothing in his writing suggests that he will go beyond his audience.

I like him a lot but I'm hoping he starts coming out with some better songs.

This guy is so night and day!! His studio stuff is just bleah! but his live versions are excellent! Like that version the OP posted of "gernade" it's 10 times better then the studio version!!!

I have a feeling he doesn't like those verison much either. Cause everytime i see this guy perform it's not the studio version. And it's always better the studio version. My guess is the label is forcing him to make a certain sound. Like they just did w/ Lupe Fiasco...It's sad

Most of his stuff is highly over-rated (especially "Grenade" which is really bland) , but "Marry You" is really good. That's the strongest songwriting I've hearfd from him.

Grenade is such a stupid song, as i said i doubt he would catch a Grenade for ANYONE lord he act's like he is in a war zone

He's not bad, but not good. I do like 2 of his songs but in 5 years he won't be around. He's very overrated.

I'm tired of the MJ comparison he has though. He doesn't sound like him, he doesn't sing the same music (with the exception of the covers). The only comparison is that Bruno is trying to look like Michael during Off The Wall/Thriller.

I agree. He's not bad at all, but I don't know how to place his songs. They are simple pop songs that anyone can write or conceptualize in their sleep. Better yet, they sound like commercial jingles. Maybe I'll take a listen to the new album, but based on his live performances and singles, I'm not moved. Vocally, he needs to get it together too because last time I heard him, he made me cringe.

Bruno Mars has plenty of potential to do great things musically. But I'm also not sure that the major label execs are going to allow the young man to take great risks in future albums.

And I must say that Grenade is freaking corny!

I can't say I am an avid Bruno Mars listener/fan. But he's good though. He's a good singer.

That's easy to say when you're not trying to sell records. Until she gets her "Purple Rain", she'll be known as a talented chick with good ideas instead of a talened woman with good SONGS. Sometimes the masses get it but they just don't LIKE it. She doesn't have that one song that makes people relate to her yet. I'm sure its coming but its not there yet...but...back to Bruno...

I really really thought you guys would find him incredible and pretty much the closest thing to the next MJ.

Guess I was wrong.

I like his singles a lot, but right now I really hate the fact he is overplayed and makes me bitter about my ex who would quote Grenade and piss me off.
