Oh lol

I love the org and I still enjoy it despite the accurate issue you guys have against it, the key is mental blocking. The primary reason why I'm here is escapism and generating different musical knowledge, if I keep reminding myself that,,,,all the petty bullshit gets slammed against the wall.

There're still more reasons for me to stay here, thankfully.

You better park your ass up in the org and don't you even think about going anywhere. It has been dead up in here lately, hell just look at page one over in this Music: Non-Prince section lol ....but it would be even deader if you left.

Break it down Andy nod Cuz I can find you, I have GPS. call

There is no way he won't contribute to the 60s org poll.

I was fortunate enough to hang out with him once too. VERY cool dude. cool

I miss him too! I'm sure he'll contribute to the 60s poll. Maybe that will get him posting again?

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

So, is there anything that can be done to jazz up this forum? I think the random choices by mods on which artist are forced on one thread is kind of a symbolic deathkill for the forum IMHO.

A lot of very nice, knowledgeable orgers seem to have vanished over the years, which is quite unfortunate. Not that I can blame them though, since my own interest in the org has been on the wane for a long time, and these days I barely bother posting at all. I guess the org has just... lost its appeal.

(I admit, though, that I still do a bit of semi-regular lurking -ing around these parts)

On the Org since 2005.

I am wondering if people are losing interest in Prince. When I found this place it was great to discuss Lovesexy for the first time with people who understood, who knew what The Rainbow Children meant.

Eventually I gravitated towards this forum for more general music discussions.

Then on to General Discussion once I ran out of ways to praise the Beatles and P-Funk.

And even GD seems kind of quiet noawdays. The number of posts simply is not what it was, and that leads to fewer interesting discussions.

I have to wonder if that can be traced to most of us having run out of things to say about Prince. That is the original reason we are all here. And when someone new does come along and ask if "Prince ever used drugs" or mentions "not really liking the Darth Vadar voice" they have been shot down for not reading the similar thread from last week.

So in part I think Prince's lack of interesting music for the past 10 years might be to blame for not bringing new people in constantly, and we as jaded assholes might be partly to blame.

So that's not really a solution, is it? lol

not to mention the music industry seems like nothing to talk about at the moment. It is not just this forum, it's radio, it's MTV.

I know the music is out there, but we are not really hearing it.

It might be easier if some folks didn't walk around with sticks far ever so firmly up their anuses,,,,there're many great Prince fans I see in other sites who don't join this one because of know-it-all allergic to newbies assholes who can't engage in a simple conversation without a snide remark.

And the ones who decided to stick around, resorted to the lurk mode when I'm sure that 1/2 of them can contribute to as many if not more interesting discussions had it not been for the misreble maniacs in Prince & Music.

Hell, I have a tough skin and I don't go there anymore,,,,I posted a thread today for the first time since 6 months, just goes to show you lol

true, and true

i think you GET a thicker skin from posting, though. I was so scared the first time I posted, and of course nobody even responded. Now I post all the time and if someone says something mean I might get mad, but I am not in fear of the humiliation of it!

I think it may be a mixture of all of these things. My interest in current Prince music has waned a bit, so I don't feel the urge to discuss him as much as I do many of the other artists who are exciting me now. Also, the older I get, the less obsessed I become with ravenously checking this forum (and others) for tidbits- that may be part of it as well.

When I first got "into" the org, it was all about talking music. Now that does not seem to happen nearly as often. Even on this thread I'm just gossiping!

Goes hand in hand with the state of the industry. Possibly.

I come here less and less. I've not much positive to say about 'new' music.. I'm a geek so i spend a lot of time at Digitalspy.com, superherohype or AICN and other *ahem* 'entertainment' forums.

Here's my question about that. I used to rely on this forum to find out about new artist but since this place has slowed down, I now rely on starting FB status updates asking people to share their new discoveries. And then I read a top twenty list like this one: http://www.pastemagazine....-2010.html and I realize, damn, there's a lot of new music acts I haven't a clue about.

So, my question is this, are these artist to whack or are we just not talking about them here?

I think the other thing is... even though we all like to listen to music that is under the radar, it can be hard to get everyone on board during the two days the thread is active when they've never heard of the artist.

I agree, it would be nice to have a sticky where people share what they like or have discovered. I for one thoroughly enjoyed the org mix-tapes, I was introduced to a lot of music I never heard before. cool

I don't know who he is.

Even so we have great posters. I like Identity stuff and we have a couple of jazz fans hear but those threads don't take off as much. So maybe it's a question of people would share a lil' more if they thought we'd pay attention or a least check it out.

Sounds to me like we need a way to highlight adult threads. Like a different color boarder listing or just calling it The Adult Series in the title heading. lol

And maybe having an adult mod with comprehension skills who could encourage adult conversation too by sticking a random thread here or there lol

Well I have been here 3 years. I am a die hard Prince lover, but never post on the prince only site, because people have been quite nasty to me there. Associated Artists I stay out of. I really only stay on the non-prince forum and GD.

I miss Paligap! He was a die hard Slave fan like me and it is only now when someone mentioned he has not been here as much that I realized he has AWOL. I vaguely remember The Audience.

I think it is slow because it is the holidays. People don't usually act up around then and life slows down.

Harle, you better not go anywhere. Timmy, you need to stay, cause I love your knowledge and you love Debarge, too and Andy, honey, no one can talk more shit than you!!!

When it comes to knowledge of the wide world of music, tA...theAudience...Neal is a motherfucking BOSS! kiss2 hug

He's that real deal and needs intellectual musical stimulation. Unfortunately, he hasn't been able to get that from around here, for quite some time. This I KNOW to be FACT because I've witnessed the very sad decline of Prince.org - Music: Non-Prince! wink

Y'all want him back? Then give him some damn good reasons to come back! nod

I always said the org should charge a subscription fee for tA's posts. I never came away from a thread he posted on without learning something. I'd like to see him back sometime. Same goes for paligap.

Those two also really helped make rounds 1 aand 2 of the Org Mixtape Project worthwhile.
