Just for the record...I can't stand these Michael Jackson catch all threads. While I do understand their necessity...they still suck like hell and I can't stand 'em!
Anyhoo!
It's official! This is my favorite Michael Jackson video!
Yes, I know it's a video of him and his brothers, of which there are many. Duh! But in this particular video, which I never saw before his death. I see Michael...then and there...letting it be KNOWN...in no uncertain terms...that HE would be the SUPERSTAR that HE became because he KNEW it! His every single move, gesture, expression and vocal...stands him outside the pack! He even had a sequined, lone star on his chest! HELLO!
.

Very true, but that was the case since the very beginning of the J5
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I absolutely ADORE the perpetual smile on his face! He looked like he was having so much fun.
Don't have it to hand, but I'm sure it was detailed in "The Magic & The Madness".
You mean the taraborrelli crap? That thing is known for being half fiction.
Oh, I know that. But I'm fairly sure I've heard the same story from other sources. Something about Branca being set to take on TTD as a client and Michael insisting that he not do so.

Please. Like Michael would do that shit.
Terence was the cause of why his career went down the tubes when it did.

I wholeheartedly agree! Of all the videos I've seen with him and his brothers, this one says to me the he was just about to come into his own...finally...and he KNEW it! That's why to me...he was enjoying it SO MUCH and it showed!

nah F all that i wouldnt put it past mike. thats part of being the shrewd businessman that he was known to be. He wanted sony to ALWAYS remember who their breadwinner was. its ugly yes- but thats BUSINESS.

I really don't know what to think, I don't think Michael would take his shrewdness to that level, I really don't but I don't have all the facts. How would a record company benefit though from sabotaging any of their artists? I happen to love Terence a great deal and expected bigger things from him, I do consider him near the Michael/Prince/Springsteen level of artistry, I always believed his timing was fucked though, his second album was a misguided, pseudo-psychedelic album which ruined the goodwill of his first album. And I think his symphony or damn, as brilliant as it was came when grunge and hip hop were wiping out all the traditional american pop music. If Michael would have went after anyone to help his sales it would have been gangsta rappers and Nirvana, overnight Prince, Michael, Bruce were all playing second fiddle to these upstarts.

Well that's true, but still even with that, I doubt he was that cunning. Besides though Terence had a good year, I doubt he was ever gonna be a threat to Michael's popularity. Like I said earlier his comments also had something with killing his own career. He sure didn't need Michael's help in that regard.

yeah, he was a fan of the Muhammad Ali school of promotion, what he was too dumb to realize was that music isn't boxing, people would pay to see if Ali would fail/lose, in music if they hate you, they just won't buy your album. Mainly though, terence's second album was too far out and inaccesible to go over it's that simple.

Not that I wouldn't put it beyond MJ to do what needed to be done to get his way, but I would like to know if there is any proof of this? Anyone have a source to this information or anything specific like some more instances of this happening? I mean...I know of a few instances of people whispering about MJ being handed around like a $2 whore to some really important men in the business, or so, when he was younger from some of those in the industry. Is it true or not? I don't know, but at the end of the day, rumors are still just that. Rumors.

oh god oh god oh god that is one rumor i nevver want to hear about ever! oh nooooo shoot whoever is telling you that in the face. that would be depressing to me.
I cut the third gen some slack. You know, it can't be easy to follow in those footsteps.
I heard a Genevieve song, I think she has talent. She needs some good production and professional vocal training, but hopefully she has some drive.
That's the problem with these kids. They need drive and motivation. With the J5, the motivation of course was to get out of poverty, and that was enough.
Dreams and ambitions are one thing, but you need drive to make it a reality.
They need some Joe Jackson to motivate them....
