He's been promising a new album since 2004. The way he was talking a few months ago you think he was gonna put his album out now.

He needs to sit down too, I been hearing about Austin since I was in High School I’m going to be 24 next year what’s taking so long. lol

lol Exactly! Another Jackson that makes promises they can't keep. lol

Ah I see. Yeah, I've only been hearing about him in the last few months (via Twitter).

And thing is he's actually been working on "establishing" himself since like 2001 with failed results. I think he posted some videos of his music on YouTube from years before he worked with Rodney. Him being signed with Universal, I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to make him a soulless pop tart much like the so-called "R&B" singers of today. I just wish a Jackson from this generation not fall into trends like that. I'm looking at you Marlon, Jr., Dealz and 'em. rolleyes lol

Yeah, the song and video for Target Practice is all Michael. If that's the route they take, they'll never be successful in the long run. I read he signed on to a new label in 2009 and that his album "85" will release next year (supposedly).

Yeah I take that news with a grain of salt. The album was originally gonna be out in 2006 lol

I'm actually surprised at the new generation. I thought SOMEONE would at least be the new usher/chris brown. I think the European success of 3T was as far as it went. Most of the new generation are musically inclined or at least striving to be. I figure with their family connections, they could at least get an easy ticket and take it from there in the industry

How are things going with Austin? I know he collaborated with Rodney Jerkins.

You thought wrong lol just because they are related to Michael and Janet doesn’t mean people want to hear them.

Not referring to whether people want to hear them or not. That's a test of their music. Considering the connections they have, it could've served as a headstart. And then they could've worked from here. The keyword here is worked.. which none of them are doing.

I think that's technically what babybugz is saying. If you can't put in the work and you try to aim for Michael and Janet-type fame, you're not gonna get it. That's why I rather a Jackson came out with a folk album, a traditional soul album, or a rock album, or hell maybe metal, jazz, funk, trance, etc. ANYTHING besides the basic pop and R&B that the Jacksons have been known for about 40 years now.

I didn’t say you did I’m speaking in general like you are and just said just because they are a Jackson doesn’t mean people are interested in their projects. And yes I agree since they practically are legends in the music business they would have more access to things but this wasn’t the case. And the keyword is being Lazy lol

Seems like their uncle and aunt failed to teach them, "in order to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk". I know they at least tried (Michael with 3T and Janet with Rebbie's daughters - the X Girls) but it didn't work out with the latter while 3T was the only other Jackson members to find some success but it seems they caught the lazy bug too with the exception of Tarryl.

You can’t go a year without hearing about the Jackson’s doing something even when Michael was alive. They were either on a reality show or something. It was never music related though. lol

I cut the third gen some slack. You know, it can't be easy to follow in those footsteps.

I heard a Genevieve song, I think she has talent. She needs some good production and professional vocal training, but hopefully she has some drive.

That's the problem with these kids. They need drive and motivation. With the J5, the motivation of course was to get out of poverty, and that was enough.

Dreams and ambitions are one thing, but you need drive to make it a reality.

HAPPYPERSON

26-12-2010) Despite lagging behind Susan Boyle's 'The Gift' and Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now,' Michael Jackson's 'Michael' has done well even though it trails short of last year's soundtrack of 'This Is It,' which sold 373,000 on its first week. And over the past year Michael's legacy has earned some $275 million, more than any other entertainer, including Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna and Jay-Z combined. And although 'Michael' comes in behind both Swift and Boyle on the charts, many feel that the new album is performing much better than many industry insiders had expected.

This bodes very well for the long-term earnings prospects as 'Michael' was the first of many planned albums scheduled to be released over the next seven years as part of the Jackson estate's deal with Sony Music. This should result in between $200 million to $250 million over the course of the contract.

The estate also received an additional $60 million advance for the film 'This Is It,' sales of the MJ video game 'Experience,' memorabilia and a re-released autobiography. The estate owns the rights to Michael's music, which took in almost another $50 million with heavy readio play and album sales over the past year and should continue to produce income.

Then add in Jackson estate's 50% interest in the Sony/ATV catalog, which contains half a million songs including titles from Elvis, Eminem, Bob Dylon, Beyonce and not to forget The Beatles. Insiders estimate that the catalog generates yet another $50 million to $100 million per year, producing a total in the neighborhood of $1.5 billion. This brings in an annual $25 million to $50 million for the estate on top of the large sums coming from Michael's own music and merchandise.

That's not the case. He was on Interscope and you know how labels are. If they don't feel it's not commercially satisfactory, they're not putting it out. I think his contract expired.

I was just listening to some early Terence Trent D'arby and stumbled across some conjecure that Mike sabotaged Terence's progress. Anyone know anything about that? I know that Militant knows something about it, but it just seems way out of character for Michael and have a hard time believing it. I honestly don't think Terence's second album needed any sabotaging, it was a mistaken concept album, even though i always liked it, thought he was reaching with it and then I thought his mouth sabotaged him more than anything, that's always been my belief, anyone know anything about it please let me know with factual info. Just can't believe Mike would try to hold anyone back.

That's what I always thought too. I know the British press didn't take too kindly to his ego when Hardline was released

In fact, when I read what Terrence wrote on the matter, I thought he was talking about George Michael lol

I do recall George saying that "I was worried for a minute" after the hardline hit, but pretty much laughed at the flop that came next. I just don't know if MJ could order anyone to do anything like that, just seems farfetched and meanspirited which wasn't Mike.

Just for the record...I can't stand these Michael Jackson catch all threads. While I do understand their necessity...they still suck like hell and I can't stand 'em! hmph!

Anyhoo! batting eyes

It's official! This is my favorite Michael Jackson video!

Yes, I know it's a video of him and his brothers, of which there are many. Duh! But in this particular video, which I never saw before his death. I see Michael...then and there...letting it be KNOWN...in no uncertain terms...that HE would be the SUPERSTAR that HE became because he KNEW it! His every single move, gesture, expression and vocal...stands him outside the pack! He even had a sequined, lone star on his chest! HELLO! lol

.
