It may have been worked on for a while but when you add in those four and the way it went, I still think it went rushed as far as trying to make the PR as hot as their music was supposed to have been. The tour was all about Michael anyway.

For the Victory ones? I have the date to some of them
Doing Dirty- 1982
here's some I'm not sure about Can I Be With You Tonight? (written by Tito in 1983) Fragile (written by tito in 1983) Satisfy You (written by Tito in 1983) One Magical Night (written by Tito in 1982)
One thing I just found out: All 5 brothers wrote "Brand New Thing" that's included on the "Live At The Forum" set. Are they credited?
Looking at Jermaine's copyrights: his music's been sampled by Flo Rida on "Go Ahead" DJ Khaled on "Fed Up" Danity Kane on "Fantasy" Young Jeezy and R. Kelly on "Halloween"
there's a couple of more. He should be getting royalties from those "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

What? Their 1973 recording or what? I always thought Norman Whitfield wrote it if in fact that's the song you're talking about.

I think the reason Jermaine hasn't been getting royalties from those songs you mentioned is because most of them weren't even featured on those artist's albums hence why he's not paid. I don't know if he wrote "Castles of Sand" but of course you can hear it in a sped-up sample on Jay-Z's "Some How, Some Way".
Just checked, he didn't write "Castles" so he didn't get money off that sample. Should've become a full-fledged composer/writer, he wouldn't have to worry about that stuff. Not sure if he even produce "There'll Never Be" for Switch (I think there were other producers on Switch's first album though Jermaine did produce a portion of the album, especially "I Wanna Be Closer", he's all over that one with his background vocals). Jay, add these to your list:
All In Your Name (2002) Carry On (2007) Eaten Alive (1984) Pray For Peace (year unknown)
All of these were co-writes between Michael and Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees.
A snippet of a fake Cascio song labeled "Carry On" leaked with the other snippets from Tak, but it's mislabeled. The real "Carry On" is a different (and obviously, real) song.

Ahh okay, I was wondering what those songs were. The brothers were really active during 1979-87 but then.....I don't know what happened "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

This is one of those Tito produced tracks.
Oh, and what happened to the brothers after 1987, Michael happened. It's gotta be some kind of pressure on you to be the brother of the biggest start in the whole wide world. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Hmm I think I got a good assumption WHY... it starts with m and ends with y and they were spending that word too lavishly... and forgot what it had took to GET THERE.

I was gonna say Michael too but that was too obvious.

When your brother is Michael Jackson you don’t have a chance unless you're Janet Jackson . Randy could have did well in the New Jack Swing department if he was focused. [Edited 12/25/10 20:10pm]

Randy was as unfocused as his other brothers. It's like what the hell were they trying to prove after 1987? I always imagined had Michael (and Jermaine and Marlon) left the group in 1984 and Jackie, Tito and Randy were left, they could've made the most of it like the Osmonds did when Donny, Marie and Jimmy left them.

I think Jackie , Marlon (yes Marlon) and Randy could have made a hot group.

Where would Tito go?
I can see Jackie, Marlon and Randy...if Marlon was up to it. He's been estranged from his family for several years (despite him being around them a lot of times).

...and have the best jheri curl in history Jermaine still tryin' to catch up "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Tito could have started a band , Marlon is my favorite brother after Michael , he seemed like one of the sane ones to me.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I wished Tito started his blues career sooner than he did or like you said, started a band. You think a family with that talent (like Tito and Randy) you'd think one or two of them would've benefitted more than they did. Jackie had settled for background vocal work in the mid-1980s but then he stopped. It's like the bigger their kid brother got the more they tried to match it and they just didn't have that. It's a tragedy that some of them were consumed with greed wanting to get Michael-type money so they can afford an expensive ranch like Michael's.

It is sad like I said about Randy he could have did something if he was focus. I could easily see him with the Bobby Brown’s and Al B sure’s at that time lol. They should all have continued writing and helping other artists they didn't have to be Michael. I'm sure they felt worthless because they couldn't match his success smh. They got lazy at the end of the day though. [Edited 12/25/10 20:25pm]

All the brothers have talent (all of them.) I don't know if it was being scared to fail or being lazy. They've been part of a successful act since the late 60s'. One of the biggest best selling bands in the world, and they thought they were huge ... then here comes lil brother Mike even bigger that that.
In their mind, they're thinking "even if this shit is jammin (and some of it was), it's goin nowhere." PRINCE: Always and Forever

Plus they had outsiders in their ears talking about "what you gonna settle for less when you can be competing with Michael?" I think that's what spooked most of them so instead of continuing their careers, they all just stopped.
The way I see it when they were growing up, they were always together. Michael had plans but he feared telling his brothers would jeopardize whatever they were building. But once he made that decision to become a full-fledged solo artist, it seemed that he made his own decisions on how he wanted his career to go and once he was able to achieve what he achieved, it threw the brothers in for a loop.

It was fear, intimidation and fright. They couldn't imagine having to fight to be heard, then JANET comes out of nowhere and well...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yes I watched the reality show like really why you guys want to come back now, the timing did not look right at all. I think that was more Jermaine insecurities , trying to prove something since he was gone.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah it's all about Jermaine and Jackie, Tito and Marlon saw that right away even as filming went on. You could tell their hearts were at other places while Jermaine concentrated solely on the spotlight. It was never about family or loyalty, if it was, why did he leave his brothers in 1975 for trying to be the new "Prince of Motown" while Marvin was still in the label!? Now he wants to replace Michael and Janet as the Jackson family's breadwinners, give me a fucking break.

I know they was like Well Damn
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I actually think that's what really scared them. All of a sudden THEIR BABY SISTER, the one they called Dunk, all of a sudden is having number-one hits and becomes an MTV darling whose only competition was Madonna, Whitney Houston (and briefly) Paula Abdul. And it's like "well, they REALLY ain't gonna wanna hear from us!" I think Rebbie and La Toya sensed the same thing because their careers, while not as successful, didn't fully recover after that and their attempts to come back have been laughable.
