Anyone who has to call down another artist at the betterment of their own, only exposes their own fear - to act as though they feel threatened by another's talent.

It would be easy to snipe that those Prince fans feel threatened that even dead Michael's album is still getting more talk and sales than Prince's latest offering. (And some MJ fans also act this way towards other artists as well) but it shouldn't be about who is better, best etc.

Like I've always said, having been a lifelong fan of both you get to appreciate the art both bring to the table.. Being so one-sided in your attitude robs you of hearing some great music that the other has produced.

Orrr....That person generally just believes that about MJ with no involvement of her Prince fandom....you know, most people think as she does. It actually could be that simple.

This is the only MJ thread allowed on the Org, you have to accept all opinions, agree or not. It ain't a praise MJ thread...It's MJ discussion.

I disagree with her, but this had to be said. I HUGELY doubt it's fear of another artists talents, as my view is that MJ is no way near the heights of Prince and that's a common view around here, so that view alone would disable that notion. Mostly, though, opinions aside...it ain't a sport....which ironically, most MJ deciples see it as......We talking sales figures yet?

Add that to the fact that everybody's personal music preferences are completely unique, and obviously there's going to be people who may like one and not the other, and you realize that this "debate" is completely fucking pointless. Sorry, my post was not directed at you at all. Just adding to what you said.

That said, I still do think there needs to be a separate sticky/thread for all things Prince vs MJ.

The problem is that this MJ thread is the ONLY place to talk about any aspect of Michael Jackson's life and career.

Really what's the point in that discussion. The PRINCE is the be all fans will not sway in their position, likewise the staunch MJ fans will not be swayed in their position. Everyone who has picked a side is already too well invested in their point of view to change it.

Plus there isn't a need to compare them in the first place.

Instead, just celebrate the music you love in the way you want - either talk Prince in the prince forums or discuss MJ's work in the MJ thread.
