With all the sellout bullshit he's been releasing for the last two decades, how the hell is this his first solo album ever? Was he releasing that sellout bullshit under the name "The Isley Brothers"?

Yes he did the Spend The Night album by himself under the guise of the
Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley. O'Kelly had already passed and
Rudolph got into the minsitry so i guess to fulfill the contract with Warner
Bros. he did the album by himself which was really his first solo album.
I think a few years later Ernie and Marvin rejoined him for Tracks Of Life.
He and Ernie did the last few Isley Brother albums or so. I only found
Eternal to be excellent.
Like Timmy i will pass.

Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint
I know there are going to be 2 midtempo songs on it and the rest slow jams..predictable....I know its not going to be funky...
The only funk he's known since 1983 is the crack of his ass.
MMM..part of the reason why I never got into the Isley Brothers was because everything I heard and seen from them growing up was something slow...boring.

From left to right: O'Kelly, Chris (Jasper), Ernie, Rudolph, Marvin & Ron.
Mmm...back in their hey day I would have been all about Marvin and Rudolph..
Ernie Isley and Chris Jasper are the only ones I would have....and I would have them both at the same time....although it might be sexy to have Marvin also since he's actually Ernie's brother....to compare and see how different or similar their dicks are.
I always wondered is that Rudolph in the front? Man i always thought he was the best looking one..mmm
Yep that's Rudolph. You can always identify his trademark beard and his cool
stick and i'm not talking bout his pecker Vainandy.

Oh, he don't turn me on at all.
I just bought a "Best Of Soul Train" (Volume 1) DVD in Fred's last week. Apparently, they must be selling them separately in stores....that's the only one they had though. Anyway, The Isley Brothers performed several songs...live, not lip synced...and Rudolph looked like he was high as a damned kite. He kept looking down and swaying from side to side. All he did was holler "Wooooo" all the way through every song.

I wouldn't be surprised if he and the Isleys did get into drug life. Maybe that's not the reason he went into the ministry in later life so who knows? They're so private. Only thing that has come out about them besides from that incident with Wilson Pickett is they have had money troubles.

Spill the beans on the incident with Wilson Pickett. Orgnot me if you have to.

Yep,they're selling a few volumes separately now.I have the entire set from Time-Life.I know the performance you're talking about,it's on Volume 1.Rudolph is dressed in red and during "That Lady",he keeps swaying from side to side it looks kinda funny, lol.

Exactly I've pretty much given up on new music from Old School artists who used to be funky. They're not interested in making that type of music anymore Charlie Wilson,Ron Isley, even Teena Marie doesn't throwdown the way she used to.They stick with midtempo beats and ballads.

They probably wouldn't have a recording contract if they were doing funk or uptempo tunes (at least not with a major), because it doesn't sell much. They still sing the old stuff in concert. The "adult R&B" stations mostly play Maze style midtempo music and slow jams, and that is where the record labels are mainly marketing the older acts to. The ones that get some airplay on the regular youth hip hop R&B have some type of gimmick (Mr. Biggs), do duets with current popular acts, or sing hooks on rap tunes.
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
Wilson Pickett incident? Oh shit, I better read this
Apparently Wilson and the Isleys were hunting at the Catskills in New York. Later one night, Wilson was so drunk he started shooting everywhere. When two of the brothers (the elders O'Kelly and Rudy) and two others tried to calm him down, Wilson started to fight with them, then he was locked in the Isleys' door. He shot through the door. Wilson was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession. He would've been in jail for seven years for the incident but charges were dropped.
